Story
Red was first spotted on a trail camera by a Merced County rescuer while she was trying to secure another abandoned dog. Thin and shy at first, Red kept returning for food and slowly began to trust. After weeks of patience, she was finally safely secured and has been thriving in foster care since October 2025. Red is a beautiful Border Collie mix (likely with retriever) and an exceptional dog. She loves other dogs, is curious about birds and squirrels, and enjoys having her nose to the ground. Her foster says she’s one of the easiest dogs she’s ever integrated into her home. About Red: • ~1.5 years old (born October 2024) • Spayed, 64 lbs • Up to date on vaccines, microchipped, dewormed, and on flea prevention • Dog, cat, and livestock friendly • Leash trained, house trained, and great in the car • Shy with new people but deeply loyal once she bonds—she’s a true velcro dog Red would do best in a home with another similar-sized dog to play with. She’s a big, smart puppy who will thrive with structure, exercise, and continued socialization. Red is fostered in Merced, but can be shown in the bay area. If you’re interested in adopting, please apply at 1luckydogrescue.org or email Nancy at nancymoore016@gmail.com and tell us about the home you’d offer Red. 🐶💕

Story
Polly is a happy, loyal girl who’s always eager to please her people. With her irresistibly soft fur and affectionate nature, she’s happiest soaking up all the pets and attention she can get. She’s wonderful with other dogs and loves a good play session—whether it’s wrestling or a spirited game of tug-of-war. She’s also quite content curling up in your arms, relaxing into belly rubs and enjoying quiet snuggles. Polly has great house manners. She’s potty trained, crate trained, and uses the doggy door like a pro. She settles in easily and sleeps peacefully through the night, as long as she has a cozy, safe spot to call her own. This clever girl enjoys showing off fun, natural talents like spinning and balancing on her hind legs. She’s very treat-motivated, which makes training both easy and enjoyable. Polly adores everyone—kids, adults, and dogs alike. She’ll thrive in an active home where she can explore, play, and be part of the family’s adventures. To learn more about Polly, email her foster mom Ash at asukumar86@gmail.com. If you’re ready to give Polly the loving home she deserves, please fill out an adoption application at https://www.1luckydogrescue.org/adoption-application/.

Zoey (GA)

Border Collie Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)

Story
Zoey is an enthusiastically friendly four year old medium sized dog who is likely some kind of terrier mix. She's not shy at all with new people and is very energetic- she doesn't necessarily need someone very experienced with dogs but does need someone who can regularly exercise her more strenuously than simple walks. She seems to understand the concept of fetch and loves playing with toys. She gets along with the two dogs she currently lives with but it is unknown how well she would interact with cats. She's very cuddly and loves attention! Her human passed away and had no known relatives so she needs a new forever home. She's very attentive to the humans around her and seems to be constantly looking for a job to do so she would probably do well with agility training or as a running buddy or farm/ranch companion. We are helping Zoey's current guardian to rehome her. Please fill out our online application and we will forward to them. Adoption fee would be minimum $100 donation to Furry Friends Rescue. If you have specific questions please send them through and we will put you in touch with her current guardian.May 12, 2026, 12:42 am

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
With a gaze that melts hearts and a spirit that fills every room, Ursus is far more than just a handsome face. He possesses a genuine, expansive heart and a personality so vibrant it's impossible to ignore. Though he carries himself with a certain natural beauty, he also has a sensitive side; he tends to be a bit cautious and endearingly eccentric when navigating new environments. This "delightfully weird" phase is simply his way of processing the world before he feels comfortable enough to let his true colors shine.Once that initial shell thaws, you are rewarded with a companion who is remarkably quirky and unapologetically goofy. He is the kind of dog who turns every mundane moment into a playful memory. While Ursus prefers the company of adults over the high energy of young children, his social life truly flourishes when other canines are involved. He is a social butterfly in the dog park, always eager to make new four-legged friends and engage in a good romp. For a patient owner who appreciates a touch of character and a lot of soul, Ursus is the perfect match. Primary Color: Grey Secondary Color: White Weight: 47.8 Age: 2yrs 5mths 0wks

Story
Opal is a 5-year-old Border Collie who has been a loyal and gentle companion. She has a calm, slightly shy personality at home, but becomes happy and curious when out on walks, where she enjoys exploring and sniffing her surroundings. She is well-behaved, non-aggressive, and does not have any behavioral issues. Opal is comfortable spending time on her own at home and does not show signs of anxiety or destructive behavior. She is affectionate in a quiet way and will relax and trust you once she feels safe. Due to changes in my personal life, I am looking for a responsible and loving home that can give her the time, stability, and care she deserves. Ideally, her new home would be with someone who enjoys taking walks and can provide a calm and patient environment. Opal would do best with someone who understands that she may take a little time to warm up, but will become a very loyal and trusting companion. She currently has mild cataracts, which has reduced her activity level

Story
Meet Kismet – A Resilient and Loving Companion Looking for Her Forever Home Kismet is a stunning 1-2-year-old Australian Cattle Dog with a heart as big as her beautiful personality. She also happens to be deaf, but that doesn’t slow her down one bit! This sweet girl found herself in a crowded Central Valley shelter, on the verge of giving birth. Perhaps being deaf was a small blessing in such a loud and overwhelming place—but it was still a frightening experience for her. Thankfully, Lucky Dog Rescue stepped in, and Kismet was whisked away to a loving foster home where she could safely raise her newborn puppies. Kismet was a wonderful, devoted mom, and now that all her puppies have found their forever homes, it’s finally her turn. Kismet is great with other dogs. She enjoys playing with the younger dogs in her foster home and is respectful of the senior dog. She’s housebroken, has mastered the dog door, and sleeps quietly in her crate at night. Like many young dogs, she can be a bit mischievous—she’s been known to chew on things she shouldn’t—but she’s learning to redirect her energy toward appropriate chew toys. On leash, Kismet walks well but can be a little cautious in new environments. She’s shy when meeting new people and needs time to warm up, but with patience and kindness, she blossoms into a loving, affectionate companion. Once she trusts you, she’ll shower you with cuddles—yes, Kismet is a snuggler! Highly food-motivated, Kismet knows “sit” and is learning additional hand-signal commands. With continued training and love, she’ll thrive in a patient and understanding home. Are you the one who will give Kismet the forever home she deserves? If you’re interested in adopting Kismet, please complete our adoption application at 1luckydogrescue.org or email Sue, dogs@s2springer.com.
