Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:6Ginkgo – The Bright, Bouncy Brainiac with Double Dew Claws Meet Ginkgo, a 2-year-old Border Collie mix with double dew claws, a brilliant mind, and a whole lot of joyful enthusiasm packed into his 66-pound frame. He’s energetic, playful, and entertaining, bringing fun wherever he goes. Lively and curious: Ginkgo starts off bouncy and eager. He loves sniffing, and happily trots over for treats, which he takes gently. Playful and silly: He entertains himself by sprinting around with a toy, tossing in joyful hops. Smart and trainable: He responds well to ‘sit’ and is perfecting ‘down’.  Affectionate: As he settles, he leans in for pets, and even weaves between legs in his goofy, loving way. Still learning manners: He’s honing his leash manners and “four on the floor”, which he’s proud of his amazing progress. Ginkgo has attended doggie playgroup and would thrive with a well-matched canine buddy or as a solo dog. He’s ready for someone who appreciates both his spark and his sweetness.December 8, 2025, 1:41 pm

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog I:4Lakeshore is a 1-year-old, 35-pound border collie mix with the best windswept rabbit ears you’ve ever seen—always perked, always listening, and always ready for fun. This sweet, friendly puppy is curious, affectionate, and happiest when he’s right by your side giving kisses or bouncing up for attention. This high-energy, enthusiastic youngster arrived with very little training, but thanks to those giant ears and his naturally responsive nature, he learns quickly. Lakeshore already knows a great “sit,” and even an impressive sit-and-wait! He’s still working through typical puppy habits like jumping up and getting a little mouthy during treat time, so he’ll thrive with adopters ready to guide him through his teen-pup manners. Lakeshore is playful and vocal with other dogs, and enjoys chase games. He’d do best with well-matched dog friends or as a solo dog with dog buddies to meet. With his big personality, Lakeshore is ready to be someone’s joyful, goofy, love-soaked companion.November 26, 2025, 2:46 pm

Story
Frida would do best in a home with low activity. She loves her adventures outside.. going on walks and hikes, but while in her home Frida would like it to be peaceful and low energy. She would do best with another dog in the home and no with no small children or small animals. Frida is a sweetheart, but she scares easily. A more mellow home with less traffic would help her feel safer. If you have any questions or if you would like to set up an appointment to meet Frida please call 707-459-4900.

Story
Maybe is the kind of dog who seems to read your mind & know exactly when you need a nudge, a paw, or a snuggle. She’s incredibly loyal & affectionate w/her people & great w/dogs. She’s a very loved dog whose story took a heartbreaking turn w/the arrival of her person’s newborn baby, who triggered her sensitivity & reactivity in a way no one could've anticipated. For everyone's safety, her family had to make the very painful decision to find her a new home. It's a decision made out of love, not convenience & her persons heart is breaking. She shines around dogs & would likely do best in a home w/a canine friend who can help her feel confident & secure but it's not a dealbreaker. She'll take patience to warm up & trust you but when she does, she'll be completely devoted. She's housebroken, good when you’re gone, does not resource guard & knows potty bells & dog doors. Age 4, 55lbs. Vibe: clever, playful, chill, average energy, PicVids: https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B22JtdOXmJ80eB7

Story
Meet Rosie 🐾 6-year-old Australian Cattle Dog with a loyal heart, a brilliant mind, & energy that never runs out. She’s been deeply loved for the past five years and is now looking for her next chapter — a calm, adult-only home that understands and appreciates the herding breed spirit. Rosie is incredibly athletic — she can play fetch for hours and has yet to lose a race! Her absolute favorite things in the world are balls, balloons, walks, puzzle toys, and sunbathing. She’s calm & mellow inside home — fully crate trained, quiet, never destructive. Let’s you know when she needs to go out. She’s wonderfully trained, knows sit, shake, other paw, lay down, spin, roll, kisses, stay, and leave it. Rosie would thrive with space to run, a fenced yard, or an active person who loves long walks, hikes, or runs. She’s sweet, silly, incredibly loyal, and even “talks back” when you talk to her — it’s the cutest thing you’ll ever see. She sheds a LOT year round! She loves In n Out as a treat!
