Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog H:5Daphne – The Playful Ball-Loving Sweetheart Meet Daphne, a 1-year-old Border Collie / Husky mix weighing 47 pounds, with a playful spirit, and a big soft spot for affection. She’s the kind of girl who can happily switch between action and cuddles without missing a beat. Fetch enthusiast: Daphne loves balls, happily bringing one back in exchange for the next throw. Affection seeker: Once she settles, Daphne leans right in for love — offering face kisses, licking hands, and pressing close for connection. Smart and treat-motivated: She responds well to “sit” and is very treat motivated, though she’s still polishing her treat-taking manners. Active walking buddy: Daphne sniffs enthusiastically on walks and may pull moderately at times, but remains manageable. Dog-social: She attends doggie playgroup and enjoys playful chase with other dogs. Daphne is a joyful mix of playful athlete and loving companion. She’d do well with a well-matched canine friend or as a solo dog with social doggie pals.         View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Oakland Animal Services (OAS) (@oaklandanimalservices) January 9, 2026, 7:47 pm

Story
Lily is an awesome Dog. She was born from working dogs lines in Modesto. She couldnt stay on Farm because she was not a breeder. She loves looooong walks, weve spent days out in the Mountains, and shes the perfect wilderness companion. She is ridiculous smart like all Collies. Very sweet, loves people, kids, cats and little dogs. Has a slight trust issue with dogs her own size and bigger. She is very much a pack animal, not solitary. I have to part ways with my Princess as I have to move for work. Im super sad. Want her to go to a good home that will take her into the wilderness and looong adventures She is not a stay at home dog at all...

Story
Frida would do best in a home with low activity. She loves her adventures outside.. going on walks and hikes, but while in her home Frida would like it to be peaceful and low energy. She would do best with another dog in the home and no with no small children or small animals. Frida is a sweetheart, but she scares easily. A more mellow home with less traffic would help her feel safer. If you have any questions or if you would like to set up an appointment to meet Frida please call 707-459-4900.

Story
Maybe is the kind of dog who seems to read your mind & know exactly when you need a nudge, a paw, or a snuggle. She’s incredibly loyal & affectionate w/her people & great w/dogs. She’s a very loved dog whose story took a heartbreaking turn w/the arrival of her person’s newborn baby, who triggered her sensitivity & reactivity in a way no one could've anticipated. For everyone's safety, her family had to make the very painful decision to find her a new home. It's a decision made out of love, not convenience & her persons heart is breaking. She shines around dogs & would likely do best in a home w/a canine friend who can help her feel confident & secure but it's not a dealbreaker. She'll take patience to warm up & trust you but when she does, she'll be completely devoted. She's housebroken, good when you’re gone, does not resource guard & knows potty bells & dog doors. Age 4, 55lbs. Vibe: clever, playful, chill, average energy, PicVids: https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B22JtdOXmJ80eB7

Story
Courtesy Posting Ozzie is a 4-year-old cattle dog mix. He weighs 80 pounds and is fully vaccinated, house trained, and crate trained. Ozzie has lived in a loving home his whole life. Sadly, his owner became ill and can no longer care for him. Since Ozzie has been going to daycare for years, they agreed to foster him until a new foster or better yet, a new home could be found. He is very sweet and enjoys cuddling with his humans. Ozzie gets along great with dogs of all sizes as well as cats! He loves going on walks and hikes but is down for hanging out at home and snuggling on the couch. Ozzie has been going on pack walks with other dogs and attending doggy daycare and does wonderful and enjoys playing with other dogs. Good with kids ages 10+
