Story
Rocco is a 7 years old healthy, happy and strong dog. He's 50 lbs mixed breed, very fit, all vaccines up to date. We adopted him in 2017 from a shelter in Santa Cruz when he was a puppy. Now, after we got our second kid we are a bit overwhelmed and Rocco does not get the attention he was used to. This makes him and us unhappy. We are therefore looking for a person or family willing to adopt him. He's very friendly with people, not with other dogs, so he should be the only pet in the house. The ideal adopter should be someone who has already experience owning other dogs before. Rocco can stay at home alone the whole day, or in the car waiting for you doing grocery without any issue. He follows a few basic cues/prompts; he loves to travel by car; VERY food motivated, he loves cuddles, fetching balls and playing tug of war. He gets very affectionate with the owner and the whole family. We are not asking for money, we'd like to find the right fit for him. Let us know if you are interested.

Story
Hua Juan is ready to find her forever home! She's appx 1.5yrs old, weights about 28lbs, medium size! She has beatiful interesting markings throughout her coat. She's a sweet pup but still a bit timid to start. She has made great progress and plays well with other dogs. She walks pretty well on leash but loud/sudden noises do spook her still. She will need more time to build up the confidence. She would do well with another dog at home to help her learn quickly and adjusts quicker. She is healthy, spayed, microchipped and vaccinated.

Story
I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereMeet Prescott, a charming 1-year-old, 37-pound mixed breed dog who’s ready to find his forever home! Prescott is a very lovable and friendly companion. He loves to snuggle up next to his foster family anywhere soft, and will pile all of his stuffed animals up on his bed before laying down. During the day he likes to go on the terrace and nap in the sun. He also loves to walk, run, and bike. He can keep up with his foster family on 6+ mile bike rides! Prescott is fully house trained. At night he sleeps well in his crate. About Prescott: Friendly and Upbeat: Prescott will give you the biggest smile and tail wags every time you return home. Trainable and Treat Motivated: He is a fast learner and eager to please, especially with a treat or two to motivate him. Gentle: Prescott is gentle with kids and knows how to take food and treats gently. A Couple Things to Note: Prescott can be protective of his space and may bark when new people arrive. With patience and a slow introduction when new people enter his home, he might do better. He sleeps well and is content in his crate, but he struggles when left alone and may whine or chew when left alone in the crate. Prescott’s foster family has enjoyed watching him come out of his shell and become the happy, loving dog he is today. He’s a fantastic and devoted companion for the right family! Story
Meet Captain! He is a sweet boy who loves adventures and being with his people! He would do best in a home that can provide both mental and physical stimulation. He would love a home where there aren't many dogs around. We recommend someone who has experience with dogs as he will not be a good fit for first time dog owners. Ideally home would be in a more tranquil setting....all he wants to do is please you and snuggle up next to you while also getting some training.

Story
Loki is a happy boy, playing with friends, running about, and giving hugs! He does better being outdoors in a fenced space, he likes most dogs after an introduction and chooses his playmates, typically other males it seems (that can be situational.) He and an old male Aussie and a young Great Pyr have a love triangle, wrestling, humping and chasing each other, they are super cute and silly, he has a strong bond to his buddies, both two-legged and four!! Loki takes his time to warm up to some, and is particular about handling and restraint, not taking it well from people he doesn't know. Loki has a healthy sense of adventure and not the best recall though when he has a runabout here at the Milo Sanctuary he comes back before long. A country life is definitely in order for him! He can be affectionate and gives great hugs. Loki has had physical and other forms of trauma in his life, Loki came to us with a badly broken tail/spinal injury, he's healed and happy guy given his own freedom of movement. He deserves a chance. A country home with adults. He is fine being a predominantly outdoor dog with a buddy. He does not like a harness. Come meet him at our sanctuary!

Story
Trixter is a good solid dog who looks to you for direction. He craves attention and affection. He is dog selective (gets along with some, but not all, dogs) and interacts well with people once he gets to know them. Trixter has "Stranger Danger" with many (but not all) people at first. But with a little time and treats, he is a lover. He would love to go hiking or running, and has good recall. He will require an experienced dog owner without children. He is a true "diamond in the rough." With the time and love he deserves, he will be your best friend.

Since Obsidian has been at The Milo Foundation Sanctuary he has been able to learn some manners. He still shows sighs of being shy and nervous around strangers, but once he knows he can trust you Obsidian is a sweet loving boy. He does need to learn more manners along with some structure. Obsidian needs someone who will have time to spend with him and teach him. He would so best in a home with no children. Please call us at 707-459-4900 if you would like to know more or set up an appointment to meet Obsidian.

He is an affectionate fellow who loves to be pet, especially on the neck. He is a smart and treat-motivated boy who already knows sit and some other basic cues. Story
Ozzie is an energetic, intelligent and strong four-year old Australian Cattle dog mixed with Red Heeler. He is about 65 pounds (not sure) and would love to be part of a family with a large back yard or farm as he loves running off leash in open space. He has taken Puppy Kindergarten, Basic Obedience, Loose Leash, ReCall, Achieving Adolescent, Agility and other dog skills classes. He has is comfortable with doggy daycare and has boarded for periods of about two or three weeks. He's friendly with people and dogs but doesn't like bikes or skateboarders or things that come upon him suddenly and seem threatening, in which case he can bark reactively. He is crate-trained. My friend the owner has experienced a series of health challenges and can no longer keep up caring for Ozzie. We'd like to find him a happy new home. Note: these photos are from three years ago when he was one. More up-to-date photos will be posted in about a week. He comes with his crate and many toys.
