Story
Hello, my name is Frankie! I'm a 10-month-old, spayed Border Collie/Lab mix that currently weighs about 43lbs. I'm a high energy girl that loves to run and play! I'm still working on my impulse control and general manners so I'm hoping for a family that's prepared to continue my training. I prefer to live with older, dog savvy children because I get so excited to see my people that I forget my size. If you're looking for a happy-go-lucky adventure buddy, I could be the pup for you! Just ask Customer Service about Frankie! ID# A950091 Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.  You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by. Drop-In hours for Same Day Adoptions are 11 am – 5 pm, 7 days a week (closed major holidays). We do our best to update our listings regularly, but we can’t guarantee every animal you see is still available. It’s also typical for us to have animals who haven’t had their photos taken yet, so you are welcome to visit our adoption center and have a look around! To check on an animal's adoption status, please call 650-340-7022 during normal business hours to speak with an adoption counselor. Emails will be returned as soon as possible, but please allow up to 48 hours during busy adoption periods like weekends.September 14, 2024, 8:54 pm

Story
Basil is an intelligent, happy-go-lucky dog who is curious about the world around him. He has bursty stamina and is always happy to go exploring out in the world. He Is super nice and sweet 98% of the time. He excels in consistent environments and will mirror the energy that you put into him. He has an innate sense of bodily autonomy and does not like to be grabbed or restricted, and will firmly tell you no if being physically forced. He is not always cuddly, but he will make it very obvious if he wants it. When he does want it, Basil loves being roughly pet and having his head and belly scratched for hours. Basil is well socialized and had consistent and extensive training using positive reinforcement and clicker training growing up. He has great house manner, super smart, potty trained, crate trained, loves agility, walk on leash nicely and can be offleashed. He enjoys hiking, city walk or just hanging out on the couch.

Story
Hua Juan is ready to find her forever home! She's appx 1.5yrs old, weights about 28lbs, medium size! She has beatiful interesting markings throughout her coat. She's a sweet pup but still a bit timid to start. She has made great progress and plays well with other dogs. She walks pretty well on leash but loud/sudden noises do spook her still. She will need more time to build up the confidence. She would do well with another dog at home to help her learn quickly and adjusts quicker. She is healthy, spayed, microchipped and vaccinated.

Sunflower was rescued from the shelter when they reached out for assistance due to overcrowding. We happily took her in and it’s been sunshine ever since. This gorgeous gal weighs 39 pounds and has an absolutely gorgeous coat. She is ready for a lifetime of nature hikes and adventures with her lucky forever people! If you’re ready for some fall blooms, adopt sweet Sunflower today!      Sunflower is a loving, playful, joyful gal who is as smart as she is adorable! This girl was shy at first but quickly blossomed into a fun-loving, happy dog! She is super smart and alert, always loyally following her people around. She loves her toys, eagerly learning new tricks while keeping an eye on her favorite toy. Sunflower would be a fabulous addition to an active home looking for an adventure companion. If you have a bucket list of dog-friendly activities, Sunflower is the perfect pup to bring along! Sunflower is the perfect Border Collie, she will faithfully follow her people anywhere they want to go, but she is also content to keep herself occupied when she needs to. What a dream girl! She also has a bright smile and a personality that brightens any room she enters. Sunflower also has a joyous playful bark that she lets out when her tail wags and she gets ready for a game of catch. You’ll want to spend all your time playing with her! Sunflower can’t wait to bring a lifetime of love to her new people!  Sunflower starts her morning at 8 AM with breakfast and a snuggle. She then either spends some time playing in the backyard or heads out on a walk. As her foster people get ready for the day, she plays some more with her toys and checks out the nature tv (the window). After a morning nap, she spends some more time in the yard and playing inside the house. She snoozes some more until her foster parents come home. She heads out on a sunset walk around 6 PM and then comes home for dinner. She hangs out on the couch as she unwinds from the day, loving on her people. After one last potty break, she settles in for the night at 10 PM.  Sunflower gets along with other dogs and is figuring out this whole “playtime” thing. She loves people and can befriend anyone she meets. Sunflower is well trained already, she picked up “sit”, “down”, and “stay” quickly with her foster people. She walks well on a leash and loves her walks. Sunflower is ready to find the forever home that will show her all the love she deserves. If you’re looking for your new best friend, you’ve found her with Sunflower!      Sunflower is an option for homes with prior dog owning experience. Kids in the home should be over the age of 9.September 15, 2024, 3:29 am

Story
Rocco is a 7 years old healthy, happy and strong dog. He's 50 lbs mixed breed, very fit, all vaccines up to date. We adopted him in 2017 from a shelter in Santa Cruz when he was a puppy. Now, after we got our second kid we are a bit overwhelmed and Rocco does not get the attention he was used to. This makes him and us unhappy. We are therefore looking for a person or family willing to adopt him. He's very friendly with people, not with other dogs, so he should be the only pet in the house. The ideal adopter should be someone who has already experience owning other dogs before. Rocco can stay at home alone the whole day, or in the car waiting for you doing grocery without any issue. He follows a few basic cues/prompts; he loves to travel by car; VERY food motivated, he loves cuddles, fetching balls and playing tug of war. He gets very affectionate with the owner and the whole family. We are not asking for money, we'd like to find the right fit for him. Let us know if you are interested.

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:7Meet Prescott, a charming 1-year-old, 37-pound mixed breed dog who’s ready to find his forever home! Prescott is a very lovable and friendly companion. He loves to snuggle up next to his foster family anywhere soft, and will pile all of his stuffed animals up on his bed before laying down. During the day he likes to go on the terrace and nap in the sun. He also loves to walk, run, and bike. He can keep up with his foster family on 6+ mile bike rides! Prescott is fully house trained. At night he sleeps well in his crate. About Prescott: Friendly and Upbeat: Prescott will give you the biggest smile and tail wags every time you return home. Trainable and Treat Motivated: He is a fast learner and eager to please, especially with a treat or two to motivate him. Gentle: Prescott is gentle with kids and knows how to take food and treats gently. A Couple Things to Note: Prescott can be protective of his space and may bark when new people arrive. With patience and a slow introduction when new people enter his home, he might do better. He sleeps well and is content in his crate, but he struggles when left alone and may whine or chew when left alone in the crate. Prescott’s foster family has enjoyed watching him come out of his shell and become the happy, loving dog he is today. He’s a fantastic and devoted companion for the right family!September 15, 2024, 12:56 am

Story
Bobby, neutered male, 13-months old, 42-lbs If you would like to give BOBBY a forever home, please contact abetterchancerescue@gmail.com OR log onto abetterchancerescue.org to fill out online application Bobby is a lively, playful, and happy pup when around familiar environment. He is super mellow and well behaved by nature. He gets along well with other dogs and cats. Bobby adapted and thrived quickly in foster care. He is potty trained and crate trained to sleep overnight. His favorite pastime is his daily walks and hanging out with play pals in the park. Bobby is calm and docile compared to young pups his age. He would be a great candidate for family looking for a companion pet. About Bobby’s rescue: Bobby was deserted at the park, he was around six months old at the time. Volunteer posted his story on social media asking for help, but didn’t get any response. He was friendly to the park visitors and sometimes played with their dogs. During the time the volunteer was looking for foster opportunity for him. Before an organized fair held at the park, Bobby was picked up by the local shelter. Fortunately, the volunteer landed a foster family for Bobby and got him out of the shelter shortly. Bobby got out of the shell and became his old and friendly self soon afterwards. Hero, neutered male, 10-months-old, 37-lbs If you would like to give Hero a forever home, please contact abetterchancerescue@gmail.com OR log onto abetterchancerescue.org to fill out online application Hero is social by nature, very mellow and enjoys being around people. Hero is friendly around adults and kids, also good with other dogs and cats; he would share his toy and food without getting into fight. He is house trained and crate trained to sleep overnight; a good rider in the car; no barking or chewing behaviors. Hero will make a great family companion pet and a good walking partner in the park or hikes! Hero’s rescue story: Hero and two siblings had been wandering in the suburban mountain area for quite a while. The chance for these young puppies to survive in the wilderness during winter time is slim. Luckily, all three fragile lives were rescued in time and then got settled in foster homes. The puppies received loving care and medical attention under foster care. Hero thrived to be a healthy and happy pup!
