Story
Shadow was adopted from the shelter at estimated 3 years old. He is now estimated 6 years old. He shows signs of previous abuse and prefers a quiet home (preferably without kids). He does well with adults and is very fond of women. He is high anxiety and likes access to his crate or a closet for safety. He has always done well with new dogs outside of our home. At home he can be territorial unless he knows the other dog. We think he is part Basenji, and he extremely rarely barks. He is a lower energy dog and would be good in an apartment or smaller space.  Shadow is housebroken and uses bells to let you know when he needs to go outside. He knows basic commands, but they best demonstrated when he is not anxious. He loves a good bone but rarely plays with any toys.

Story
Bowie is incredibly sweet and loving, always happy to see you with a wiggle of his tail (butt wiggle included). He is almost 5, and was born sometime in October of 2020. He is great with other animals, has had two dog siblings, and a cat sibling. Wonderful with kids, absolutely adored my niece. He loves walks and car rides, but knows the words so be careful when you say them! He&#39ll get those little feet tippy-tapping and then you&#39re basically committed because who can say no. He is not super food motivated, but does enjoy treats and can sit and stay (but that&#39s the extent of his command training). Honestly, the best thing I can say about Bowie is that he is Just Happy to Be Included. Whether it&#39s with other dogs, or with his people. Very social and chill, no storm or separation anxiety. Will absolutely do a flop and let you rub his belly until your hand cramps and falls off. Seriously, it&#39s his favorite. The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $300.00 and that includes their vaccinations, spay or neuter, rabies and microchip. Our dogs are also heartworm negative (or we will cover their treatment). To start the process please visit our website and fill out the adoption application (www.dfwrescueme.org) and from there the foster family can answer any questions and arrange a time to meet. Bowie is participating in the DFW Rescue Me Guest Dog Program, so custody and ongoing care are provided by the foster, not by DFWRMJune 22, 2025, 12:59 pm

Story
Luna is 9 years old, born around Halloween 2015. She has been with our family since a puppy and is a wonderful dog. She is gentle, cuddly and so well mannered. She is fully house trained and kennel trained. She has free roam of the house, but still prefers having a kennel to sleep in. She does ok around other animals, but I would like her in a home where she is the only dog as another dog would give her anxiety. A friendly cat would do better. She has battled with anxiety for the last few years and has a problem with chewing herself. It was under control, but we recently had a baby and it has caused her to be distraught all of the time. She is fine with my teens, but very uncomfortable around my baby and her chewing has become more than I can handle. She has been seen in the past by a vet for this, but I am no longer in a position to afford treatment. She needs someone who is home most of the day that she can just lay by and a CALM environment. She has no history of biting.

Story
Hi, I’m Misha! I’m a 1-year-old Border Collie mix weighing about 30 pounds. I’m a sweet girl with a gentle soul, just a little shy at first, but once I warm up, I’m a total ray of sunshine. I get along great with other dogs, cats, and kids, and I walk nicely beside you on a leash. I’m affectionate, curious, and treat-motivated, which makes me a fun and easy pup to bond with. I might need a minute to feel comfortable, but once I do, you’ll see my confident, playful side shine through.

Story
Casper IS A GORGEOUS Heeler-Aussie mix. The perfect blend of loving, smart, and loyal; Casper is a great size and would be an excellent playmate or single dog. Casper is lovable and gentle but he’s still a herding mix so he has incredible energy. He is very intelligent, playful and loving and eager to please his people. Casper will be as energetic as you need when outdoors to walk, run, play and hike but when home he will also happily snuggle on the sofa, binge TV or just lie at your feet while you’re working. Casper is very loving and smart but deserving of more attention than owners can give with baby on the way; he would enjoy continued training and a lot of playtime and exercise. Casper has been around female dogs and various cats. He knows basic commands and is completely housebroken and crate-trained. We really want to find Casper a home with a yard and an active human companion. Casper is a great walking, jogging and running partner. He is smart & a quick learner
