Story
Meet Jasper! A soulful three-and-a-half-year-old Border Collie/Rottweiler mix currently in Colorado Springs, CO, whose calm, loving heart is wrapped in a stunning 70-pound merle coat. With the gentle spirit of a wise old friend and the quiet loyalty of a true companion, Jasper is the kind of dog who will melt into your side on a cozy evening and follow you room to room just to be close. Jasper thrives in peaceful surroundings and forms deep, meaningful bonds with his people. He does well around children and enjoys their company, but he would do best with calm or older kids who understand boundaries and know how to treat him gently. Loud or high-energy play can make him uneasy, so a respectful home environment will help him feel safe and content. He’s a mellow guy who doesn’t need much to be happy: a soft spot to relax, the comforting presence of his caregiver, and maybe a treat puzzle or two to keep his brain engaged. Food-motivated and clever, Jasper knows a delightful list of commands like sit, stay, paw, spin, and even “middle”, a trick that’s as cute as it sounds! He’s fully house-trained, crate-trained, and perfectly content when left alone, making him a great match for someone who works from home or has a flexible schedule. While Jasper doesn’t require intense exercise, he does enjoy slow, sniffy walks where he can take in the world at his own pace. His favorite pastime? Being in the same room as you, soaking up your presence like sunshine! After being involved in two traumatic incidents with unfamiliar dogs, one when he was a puppy and another more recently, Jasper has developed a strong reactivity to dogs he doesn't know. He may bark or lunge when he sees them, especially near fences or in close proximity, and he continues to work through that with training and patient support. That said, he’s done well with familiar dogs in controlled settings, showing that he can feel safe with the right structure and trust. He’s happiest in a home with a fenced-in yard and a caregiver who values companionship, consistency, and quiet. Loud noises can startle him, but with reassurance, he settles easily. Jasper isn’t just a dog, he’s a constant companion, a quiet presence, and a gentle soul waiting for someone to see the beauty in his sensitive heart. If you’re seeking a loyal, low-key friend who will return your care with quiet affection and soulful eyes, Jasper may just be the one waiting to share your next chapter! Story
Maggie may have spent time on her own, but sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s off to a great start getting to know all her new friends. Sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s met both big dogs and little dogs, and even when her curiosity gets the best of her, she takes a cue from her new friends. Cats will keep her amused, even if they are uninterested in her. She knows how to walk on her leash, sleep in her crate, and take care of business outside. Sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s played well with young children, but she can benefit from the loving guidance of adults to help her become more confident. Sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ll learn from a family who wants to help her become her best self. In her eyes, youâ&#194&#128&#194&#153re everything! Maggie has plenty of energy and will enjoy getting out for a run in addition to her walks. She loves toys, catching a ball, and playing tug. For a family with lots of love to offer to her, sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ll steal your heart, and youâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ll love her anyway! Story
UPDATE 9/11/23. TILLIE HAS JUST GRADUATED FROM BOARD AND TRAIN! She played with at least 5 dogs there, knows her commands, and is ready for her forever home! Tillie is VERY active and would be best suited with another doggie playmate in her new home. OR perhaps someone who would like to train with her for agility or some other event. Tillie is exceptionally smart! PRECIOUS TILLIE!! LOOK AT THOSE EARS!!!!! Tillie is a medium sized dog and weighs approximately 37 pounds. She is an Australian cattle dog mix, 9 months old, spayed, current on vaccinations and on heartworm preventative. She is also microchipped. Tillie was out of time at a local shelter and we just HAD to get her! SMART!! SMART!! And LOVES to play fetch with you. Here is a video of her with her "big stick" which she alternates with her "Tillie Ball". She has a lot of playing to do and a lot of love to learn about. Tillie will need an active family that will make her a real part of their family and take her with them where they are able. For more information, please email Gail at can.adoptions@yahoo.com.

Story
Mickey is looking for a loving foster home to help him recover while he is receiving medical treatment. Foster Reason: Upper Respiratory Infection (URI) Foster Time Frame: 1 week(The foster time frame could be longer depending on future medical results and needs.) Foster Care Plan: Mickey is currently being treated for an upper respiratory infection, which is similar to a common cold. Since he may be contagious to other pets, we strongly recommend keeping him in a separate, dedicated space such as a spare bathroom or bedroom until he has fully recovered. He will go to his foster home with medication (Doxycycline), and once his treatment is complete, he`ll be ready for surgery/adoption. Foster to Adopt: Mickey is available through our Foster to Adopt program, which allows pets awaiting or undergoing medical treatment to be placed with prospective adopters before they are made available for adoption. If you are interested in becoming a foster, please visit https://www.operationkindness.org/foster/ or email us at foster@operationkindness.org to learn more.
