Story
Meet Jasper! A soulful three-and-a-half-year-old Border Collie/Rottweiler mix currently in Colorado Springs, CO, whose calm, loving heart is wrapped in a stunning 70-pound merle coat. With the gentle spirit of a wise old friend and the quiet loyalty of a true companion, Jasper is the kind of dog who will melt into your side on a cozy evening and follow you room to room just to be close. Jasper thrives in peaceful surroundings and forms deep, meaningful bonds with his people. He does well around children and enjoys their company, but he would do best with calm or older kids who understand boundaries and know how to treat him gently. Loud or high-energy play can make him uneasy, so a respectful home environment will help him feel safe and content. He’s a mellow guy who doesn’t need much to be happy: a soft spot to relax, the comforting presence of his caregiver, and maybe a treat puzzle or two to keep his brain engaged. Food-motivated and clever, Jasper knows a delightful list of commands like sit, stay, paw, spin, and even “middle”, a trick that’s as cute as it sounds! He’s fully house-trained, crate-trained, and perfectly content when left alone, making him a great match for someone who works from home or has a flexible schedule. While Jasper doesn’t require intense exercise, he does enjoy slow, sniffy walks where he can take in the world at his own pace. His favorite pastime? Being in the same room as you, soaking up your presence like sunshine! After being involved in two traumatic incidents with unfamiliar dogs, one when he was a puppy and another more recently, Jasper has developed a strong reactivity to dogs he doesn't know. He may bark or lunge when he sees them, especially near fences or in close proximity, and he continues to work through that with training and patient support. That said, he’s done well with familiar dogs in controlled settings, showing that he can feel safe with the right structure and trust. He’s happiest in a home with a fenced-in yard and a caregiver who values companionship, consistency, and quiet. Loud noises can startle him, but with reassurance, he settles easily. Jasper isn’t just a dog, he’s a constant companion, a quiet presence, and a gentle soul waiting for someone to see the beauty in his sensitive heart. If you’re seeking a loyal, low-key friend who will return your care with quiet affection and soulful eyes, Jasper may just be the one waiting to share your next chapter! However, once we review the application and contact you, we MEET TO ADOPT, so please let us know if you are ONLY APPLYING TO STAY ON FILE or THAT YOU ARE READY TO ADOPT, for the consideration of our puppies and dogs and families who know the time is right! Thank you!  APPLICATION REQUIRED from www.dashdog.org  Adoption Fee $450 - the fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE and is not specific for any dog or puppy; it goes to the expenses of the organization as a whole* OUR APPLICATION IS ON www.dashdog.org and must be completed in order to set up a meeting. Our listed dogs ARE READY IMMEDIATELY; we only meet with families WHO ARE READY TO ADOPT! IF YOU APPLY and if WE APPROVE YOU it means we are assuming when you meet any of our dogs and fall in love you're ready to ADOPT AND HIM OR HER HOME!   Oakley and Indy are beautiful Aussie mixes who have grown up together and make a well-synced pair. Oakley is more of an Aussie-Border Collie mix and Indy looks like an Aussie and a Collie We are considering them a “bonded pair”because they haven’t experienced life without each other. Indy is the male - he is goofball who always wants to play. He’s a perfect energy level ranging from 4-7 depending on what’s going on. If you want to play Indy will be there! He can get up and on the go at your discretion and enjoys walks, being off-leash, hiking and all outdoor adventures. Oakley is the female; she is a very loving, affectionate girl. She LOVES to cuddle and even more, belly rubs! Her overall energy is about a 4-5. Oakley can get the zoomies but she prefers to chill most of the day. Oakley likes to keep Indy in check; she’s a typical female personality in the female-male relationship. Oakley is a cautious girl; she growls a little at Indy if he’s getting too close or bothering her. When she’s getting attention and Indy “snuggle-bombs” the moment she’s very vocal about it! When it comes to humans Indy is more outgoing. But like his sister he will hunker down next to you to snuggle. Indy loves to play with all other dogs whereas Oakley is more independent. She decides for herself whether or not to play. They both get along with other dogs in general. The reason Oakley and Indy need a new home is because their beloved owner has developed severe allergies to dogs. She is heartbroken having to rehome them but she’s been on vaccine regimens, has tried several prescribed medications and has even had sinus surgery. Nothing is working. We are looking for a home with a yard where Oakley and Indy can continue to be the indoor-outdoor spirited and loyal dogs they’ve always been. If this darling duo sounds like the one you’ve been looking for please complete the application on our website below, THEN: Text Sara: 214-549-9905 so I can check you app and get back to you. UPDATE 9/11/23. TILLIE HAS JUST GRADUATED FROM BOARD AND TRAIN! She played with at least 5 dogs there, knows her commands, and is ready for her forever home! Tillie is VERY active and would be best suited with another doggie playmate in her new home. OR perhaps someone who would like to train with her for agility or some other event. Tillie is exceptionally smart! PRECIOUS TILLIE!! LOOK AT THOSE EARS!!!!! Tillie is a medium sized dog and weighs approximately 37 pounds. She is an Australian cattle dog mix, 9 months old, spayed, current on vaccinations and on heartworm preventative. She is also microchipped. Tillie was out of time at a local shelter and we just HAD to get her! SMART!! SMART!! And LOVES to play fetch with you. Here is a video of her with her "big stick" which she alternates with her "Tillie Ball". She has a lot of playing to do and a lot of love to learn about. Tillie will need an active family that will make her a real part of their family and take her with them where they are able. For more information, please email Gail at can.adoptions@yahoo.com.
