Story
Firu is a sweet boy who loves his snuggles and his people. He is a 7 year old border collie mix. We found him on the side of the road in Austin when he was around 11 months old, and we could not locate his previous owners. He can get along with other dogs after a very slow introduction but displays food aggression, so he would be better suited as an only pet. He is extremely food motivated and smart. He can figure out all the lever door handles. He likes to run in the yard and hang out with his people. We are so sad to have to rehome our pup after 7 years, but unfortunately, he needs a family without children as he has bite history when they have gotten in his face. While he can still see, Firu does have some visual impairment especially in low light or dark spaces. He would be great company for a calm, child-free home as he is a people dog that listens well and likes to be in close proximity to his owners.

Story
Meet Luna (aka Lu!) She is 47 lbs of personality, zoomies, and sweetness. Luna is the total package! She is smart, playful, loyal, and endlessly entertaining. She’s the kind of dog that keeps you laughing daily with her goofy antics, then sneaks in for a surprise kiss when you least expect it. The basics: Crate trained Potty trained Knows a few commands & is a SUPER quick learner Dog friendly with medium/large dogs (loves her heeler foster brother!). Hasn’t been tested with small dogs or cats! Her vibe: Luna is a high-energy, athletic girl who LOVES to play, run, and stay busy. She’s independent enough to entertain herself, but always happy to check in for pets and affection, on her terms, of course. She’s not a full-time cuddle bug, but when she chooses you? It hits different Her dream home: • A house with room to run (no apartments for this girl) • An active family who can keep up with her energy • A playful dog sibling would be a huge bonus! • Older kids preferred (best without littles) • Someone patient and committed to continued training (leash manners + jumping) Luna is incredibly smart and eager, she just needs someone willing to guide her and help her channel all that brilliance into being the best girl she can be. Luna has shown no aggression or behavioral concerns, she is just a happy, curious girl ready for her next chapter. If you’re looking for a fun, loyal, slightly chaotic best friend who will keep life exciting and full of love… Luna is your girl. 🐾 Ready to meet Luna? Story
Kiwi is a super playful and smart girl. She even plays gently with smaller creatures like cats and rabbits. She is potty trained and has caught on quickly to simple commands like Sit and Stay. Kiwi is shy at first but quickly warms up. She was born 6/29/2019We got Kiwi & Peaches from the shelter as itty bitty pups, and soon found out that both of them had CHV (Canine Herpesvirus). Most puppies die at 2 weeks from this, however these two were fighters and besides runny noses here and there, are doing really well. They can have it the rest of their lifes and will be sick from time to time and because there is just not a lot documented on situations like this we have no idea what their future health could be. They should never be around puppies or attend public places or events.Included with adoption: Age-appropriate vaccinations, up to date heart-worm preventative, heart-worm test if over 6 months, microchip with registration, and spayed or neutered- if not already, a voucher is provided. Story
Sweet Opal was found in February 2021 with her babies. She was completely feral and seemed like she had never had human contact. She went to a foster home where she got to spend time with her babies until they were ready to be adopted. As soon as she was ready, she was brought to our facility where she would be in contact with more people and start socializing and trusting people. It has taken several months but the staff and volunteers can walk her on a leash a little bit more each day. Her friend Huey gives her more confidence. She would do good in a home where she can come and have her space and take her time to warm up. She will shy away and but does not get aggressive at all. That`s the reason we want her to make a smooth transition when finding her forever home. Opal would do great with a doggie sibling that could teach her to accept love and learn to be a happy trusting dog. We love her at the rescue and hope she finds that family to love and trust. Opal is believed to be between 2 and 3 years old. She is spayed and up to date on shots.Included with adoption: Age-appropriate vaccinations, up to date heart-worm preventative, heart-worm test if over 6 months, microchip with registration, and spayed or neutered- if not already, a voucher is provided. If you are interested in adopting, please complete our Pre-application: https://form.jotform.us/asr628/ShortAdoptionInquiry

Story
Chili is a 7-month-old Red Heeler/Dachshund mix weighing around 20–25 pounds of pure puppy chaos and love. He’s playful, spunky, loud, hilarious, and absolutely full of personality. His spicy name sure matches his personality. This boy LOVES toys — the more squeaky toys, bones, and things to carry around the better. He’s happiest when he has another dog to wrestle and play with nonstop. He would do great with another dog in the home! Chili does well with other dogs, is okay with cats (though he thinks chasing them is a fun game), and would do best with no kids, or dog savvy older kids who understand that sometimes he likes his personal space and doesn’t always want to be picked up. Chili is crate trained and keeps a clean crate, but fair warning: he strongly disagrees with being left in it and will be vocal. Because of this, no apartments please! He’s still working on potty training out and about, but has been doing well using a doggy door. He’s not exactly a spa-day kind of guy — baths are NOT his favorite — and car rides require him to be in your lap unless you want a full concert the entire drive. Chili’s ideal home would be with someone who is home most of the time or works from home. He bonds deeply with his people and struggles with separation, so he’s looking for a family committed to helping him feel safe, secure, and loved. If you’re looking for a goofy, energetic, Velcro-style best friend who will keep you laughing and never let you feel alone, Chili might just be your perfect match! He is truly a special guy who is going to make someone so happy. Apply to adopt Chili on our website: https://www.acesplacerescue.org/adoptionprocess 📍 Located in DFW, available anywhere if transport arranged by adopter.
