Mousse is as sweet as they come! He can be insecure at times, but with a little encouragement, he comes right out of his shell! He will appreciate a guardian that supports him during his transition into a new home and helps him feel his best. At this time, HSBV is recommending a home with older or no children.

Story
Greetings and salutations, Colorado, it’s me, Gonzo! I like to fancy myself a courteous and honorable gent, and my mom always told me begging is bad manners, but the Underdogs assured me that begging for a hero to help save you is the exception to that rule. Allow me to properly introduce myself. My name is Gonzo and I’m a 2-3 year-old gentle giant Boxer/American Bulldog mix buddy and I'm crossing all my paws for a hero foster or adopter. My Underdogs foster folks can only surmise that I was once somebody’s well-loved guy before I ended up in the dog clink.  I have impeccable bathroom manners, walk politely on leash and lounge quietly on my dog bed.  I’ll never know why my previous peoples stopped loving me and why they left me to wander the cold winter streets alone. What I do know, though, is that I’ve never stopped loving the peoples, ALL the peoples. Because man alive, do I love them! I could sweetly lean into them for pets and cuddles all day long. And if they gave me proper permission, I’d also happily cover them in my signature Gonzo smooches. It’s also my sole mission in life to make them laugh with my hilarious antics and sweet demeanor. I'm a calm dude in the home, but I also love to go for runs, walks and hikes. Basically, I'm down for all the Colorado adventuring.  I do well around other good fit dog friends, but my best fit home may be one where I'm your only four-legged best bud. Believe me, I've got so much love to give, one Gonzo guy is all you'll ever need. I truly am such an easy well-mannered giant lover, I just know you'll love me once you meet me.  I'm neutered, vaccinated  If you’re interested in learning more about me and hopefully set up a meeting, please fill out an adoption application at https://underdogsrescue.org/adopt-form/  and if you're interested in helping spring me from this sad and lonely dog clink by helping to foster me, I would be soo sooo grateful, please fill out a foster application at https://underdogsrescue.org/foster-form/ .  ##1906137##

Story
Maddie, cane corso, spayed female, 4 yoMaddie is so adorable, comical and lots of love. Only Maddie can bark at the picture of a dog on a dog food bag. With time gets deeply attached and you can have almost human connection with her. Maddie was abandoned in a trailer with no heat, food or water, her puppies taken to be sold. We can only imagine the despair she must have felt. When she got to the rescue, she was skin and bones. But she was still giving kisses and wagging her tail when we got her at the rescue. Now Maddie is healthy, playful and energetic. Bonded with the boxer Odie, but apprehensive with the new dogs. Good with calm friendly dogs she knows.   Needs a yard with 6' fence. Adoption fee $325. If adopted with Odie, the fee will be reduced for both. If interested, please submit an adoption or foster application at https://www.sanNicolaDogRescue.comApril 22, 2024, 2:44 pm

Hello, I'm Posie. I'm super bouncy and love to twirl in circles when I'm excited. I love chew toys and running fast! Children 8 and older would be best, so I don't knock them down. I pay no attention to the cats in my foster home. I have a funny tail and I'm smaller than I look in my photos.  ##1953751##

Story
Eva is such a sweetheart. She does good with the kids, and will be 2 years old in May. She is mostly up to date on her shots just missing a couple boosters. She is energetic because she is still young but wears out easily with a walk a day. We have two young kids and it has just been too much for us as we are going through some life stuff. She is a very affectionate dog so we would love for her to go to someone who just wants to cuddle her and be around her as much as possible. We have two cats and she does very well around them with the occasional desire to chase, but she would never harm them. She does very well around other dogs and is overall very friendly. She has never been aggressive towards anyone or any other animal. She has basic training such as sit, stay, come and does well on walks although we do still use a nose lead (which we will provide). She is also kennel trained and does well with that. We truly want the best home for her.

Story
Hi There! My name is Maggie and I am a two year old Boxer mix with the most wiggly butt and nub tail you could possibly imagine. I love my adult and teenage foster humans, but will need a home with kids ages 15+. Little kids are just so cute, but man they make me super nervous so my next home needs to be kiddo free–including visiting grandchildren. In my spare time, I am an avid TV watcher. My favorite shows are the NatGeo documentaries, Disney movies with animals, Netflix documentaries that feature older people, and the Amazing Race. I was captivated for almost an hour on Thanksgiving watching the National Dog show. I was really rooting for the boxer to win! My perfect home is one with with a strong routine as that is when I thrive! My day is like clockwork and that makes me super happy. I always know what to expect! I quietly lie on my dog bed with the four resident dogs in my foster humans’ home office during the day. I also love chewing on my Benebone. I get up to use my dog door, then go lie back down. Sometimes I play with my foster brother, then we snuggle together. The older lady dogs in the house don’t really want to play, so I 100% respect them and always leave them alone. When the work day is over, I have my dinner and then later that evening it is time to hang out on the couch and guess what…watch TV! I am crate trained and housebroken. I also attended a three week board and train with Colorado K9 in Castle Rock where I learned lots of commands and a strong recall skill! I also attended doggie day care there and found my favorite dogs to play with. I love my foster humans and give them love, but I am not needy at all. New people can frighten me some, so I will need a home who is ok with me taking time to get comfortable around new people. My foster mom can tell you exactly how to do that! I will also need a home with a playful dog companion. I really love one of my foster brothers and look to him for guidance in new situations and new people. And we play all the time!! I’d love a new dog sibling like this. My home will need to be small animal free as I have a high prey drive (cats, squirrels, fox, etc.). Speaking of that drive, my new home will need a six foot fence or shorter fence paired with an invisible fence cause I got hops! I cleared a four foot fence easily in hot pursuit of a squirrel and climbed out of a five foot one to chase deer. But if my new home doesn’t have a yard and we just go on walks and such, that is totally ok too! I walk beautifully on with my harness and love that time with my peeps exploring the neighborhood! Do you hike? I do and would love a family that goes on adventures like that! I know I have some quirks, but I am a very good girl and low maintenance dog that would love to finally find my forever home. Maggie is in foster in Castle Rock, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/maggie/. Meet Barley, our resident goofball! His playful spirit is infectious, and he's always ready for a game or a cuddle. His sweetness will melt your heart, and his friendly nature makes him a joy to be around. If you're looking for a loyal friend who will keep you laughing, Barley is your guy! He is required to have an introduction at the shelter if considering a multidog home, and he might feel most comfortable as the only pet. At this time, HSBV will only rehome him to a family with children over the age of 10.
