Charlotte was born last August to a family that didn’t give her much attention. Then she was brought to a local shelter where she was very scared. Since coming to The Cottage she has begun to feel comfortable. She likes her kitty friends and loves to be able to hang out in the catio. She has begun to trust people and likes pets. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Callie is super friendly and easy going, purring easily and eager for pets and cuddles.  She is a companion cat and likes to be around people.  She consistently purrs any time she is near humans. She is not shy at all and adapts easily to new people.  She is interested in dogs and is not afraid of them, but she is not fond of having another cat around. For this reason, she should be in a one-cat home.   If you are looking for a cat that will greet you excitedly and wants to be your best friend, Callie is your girl.    Callie is from a stray surrender. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 26, 2025, 11:28 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Louise — the gentle, shy sweetheart who’s learning how wonderful the indoor life can be! Louise spent the first 5–6 weeks of her life in a feral colony, and because of that, she’s still finding her confidence with people. She may be timid at first, but she’s also curious, observant, and quietly playful. Pull out a wand toy or a teaser, and you’ll see her little personality sparkle—she absolutely comes alive during playtime, and it’s one of the fastest ways to warm her heart. Louise has made steady progress in the short time she’s been inside. She allows petting, tolerates being picked up, and feels especially secure when she’s in her safe space. She does sometimes run and hide when approached, but with patience and gentle encouragement, she’s showing more and more trust each day. This sweet girl loves treats—especially salmon or tuna puree—and will happily take them right from your hand. She’s also wonderful with other cats and enjoys snuggling up with them or joining in on their games. Louise is also a litter box superstar and has never had an accident. Here’s a cute video of Louise playing and another video for your viewing enjoyment. With a patient, loving home that lets her grow at her own pace, she’ll blossom into a loyal, affectionate companion. She’s a precious little soul who just needs someone willing to help her confidence bloom. Louise is from a stray surrender with one sibling. We highly recommend you consider bringing home two instead of one! Adopting kittens in pairs has been proven to be beneficial for cats’ emotional and behavioral well-being and greatly improves the likelihood of long-term adopter happiness as a result. Adopting more than one kitten also reduces the risk of “Single Kitten Syndrome” (also known as Tarzan Syndrome), a symptom of under-socialization during a kitten’s most formative weeks. Kittens who are under-socialized may develop aggressive tendencies toward both other animals and humans as they grow, creating lifelong behavioral issues for owners.Click here to watch a video of Louise.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 26, 2025, 12:12 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Bonded to ZaraMeet Masala! Masala is a beautiful calico estimated to be around 1–2 years old. She came into rescue alongside her kitty friend, Zara. While Zara is the chatty social butterfly, Masala is the gentle soul of the pair — calm, observant, and quietly affectionate once she feels comfortable. Masala isn’t too fond of the hustle and bustle of “office life” — all that commotion just isn’t her cup of tea! She would prefer a peaceful, steady home where she can relax, settle into a routine, and enjoy her favorite pastime: quietly watching the world go by from a cozy perch. She has been around other cats and dogs, though she appreciates slow, gentle introductions as she adjusts. Once she trusts you, Masala’s sweet and loving nature truly shines — a perfect companion for someone who values a calm and loyal feline friend. Masala is from an owner surrender with sister Zara, and they must be adopted together   To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Ginny! Ginny is a playful little sweetheart who brings sunshine and sparkle everywhere she goes. She adjusted to indoor life like a pro and is truly a joy to have around! While she hasn’t been introduced to dogs or other cats yet, she absolutely adores playing with her siblings. Ginny is an independent girl with a spunky streak, but she’ll happily come find you for affection when she’s ready—usually right after an epic play session. She LOVES her toys, especially bouncy balls, springs, and anything she can zoom through or pounce on. Watching her rocket in and out of the tunnel is entertainment all on its own!  Here’s a cute video of Ginny playing with her siblings. Her days are filled with sunny naps, playful adventures, plenty of treats, and all the attention she decides she wants. With her bright personality and silly antics, Ginny brings energy, smiles, and so much joy to any room she enters. Life is good for this little lady—and it’s even better with her in it! Ginny is from an owner surrender with 2 sisters. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application.
