Due to the shelters limited resources we have not performed diagnostic testing, so we do not know the underlying cause. Because we cannot determine the reason for his increased thirst and urination in the shelter, we recommend that adopters have him evaluated by their regular veterinarian soon after adoption. Balthazar needs experienced guardians who understand that wisdom comes slowly; who can provide the calm, predictable environment where an undersocialized cat like him can gradually unfold; and who won't mistake his quietness for disinterest. He would flourish with a feline companion from his former household or a gentle resident cat who can show him that domestic life is worth embracing.
