I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Cat Adoption:37 Dax is a 12 year old male cat looking for someone with time to pet and love him, which is quite an easy task. He especially loves cheek rubs. Dax came to the shelter very dirty, underweight, and missing many teeth (and in need of dental cleaning). He also has an upper respiratory infection which is being treated which we would expect to be resolved. Dax has gained weight and will be/has been bathed since coming to OAS. Medical information from the OAS veterinary staff about Dax will be provided to all who meet Dax so they you can make an informed adoption decision about this sweet 'ol guy. Before you know it, her sweet side emerges and the purrs turn on. Trixie has already been through a lot for such a young kitten. She arrived at OAS with a dislocated right hip, and X-rays also showed an old, healed fracture in her left hind leg. After rest and pain medication, she's doing well, walking without a limp, and appears comfortable. Her adopter should know that her hip may need veterinary attention in the future if she begins limping again. I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Visiting Room:3Pixel came to the shelter after a stretch of living wild in a regional park, and at two years old he still runs at full brightness. He lights up when he spots you through the door, with a few words for you if you've kept him waiting, then makes his rounds from lap to bench to window, rubbing on everything along the way and rarely holding still long enough to come into focus. Play works best when it lets him hunt. Tuck a toy behind something and his sharp eyes will lock right on. Affection he prefers in small servings. Too much petting can tip him into using his teeth, so he needs experienced adopters who can read his signals and go at his speed, ideally in a home with cat trees, high perches, and room to burn off energy. One health note to know going in: Pixel had a seizure on his first day at the shelter. There have been none since, but the cause was never determined, so his adopters should plan on a vet evaluation and keep an eye out for any recurrence.
