Story
Hi, I’m Avery. I’m an orange gentleman with a soft heart, good manners, and a lot of love to give. I used to have a home, and my person loved me very much. They were heartbroken when they had to let me go because they could no longer support me. It wasn’t anybody’s fault — sometimes life changes in hard ways. Even though it made us both sad, I’m still hopeful there’s another loving home out there for me. I’m a relaxed, friendly boy when meeting new people. I’ll usually come greet you and then maybe perch somewhere up high so I can observe you for a bit — or supervise, depending on the mood. Once I feel comfortable, I absolutely melt for gentle pets. My favorite scratches are soft strokes from my forehead, between my ears, and down my head and neck. If I’m really relaxed, I love having my ears gently rubbed too. And when I trust you? You’ll get headbutts. Lots of them. I’m what some people call a “snuggle bug.” I like being close to my humans and often sleep with a paw or two touching you just so we stay connected. I’m very polite about affection and good at respecting boundaries, but I do love companionship and being near my people. I can be chatty sometimes too — usually if I need something important or if I want you to follow me somewhere. I just like communicating with my humans. I think it’s part of being a thoughtful roommate. Playtime is one of my favorite things, especially interactive play. Wand toys with crinkly ribbons? Amazing. Wand toys with bells? Not really my style. I love pouncing on toys hidden under blankets and “digging” them out like a tiny orange hunter. Cat tunnels are excellent for zoomies, and I’m a big fan of a good cat tower where I can climb, perch, and birdwatch like a professional. I do have a sensitive tummy, so I’m on a GI diet that helps me feel my best. I’m looking for someone who understands that and can support my little stomach needs so I can stay healthy and happy. Mostly, I just want a calm, loving home where I can be your sweet companion — someone to greet you at the door, curl up beside you at night, and make your days a little warmer and brighter. Love, Avery 🧡

Hi, I’m Pickles — yes, like the snack. I may be mostly white, but I’ve got one little black spot on my head that makes me extra special. Think of it as my signature garnish. I came to the shelter through a TNR partner, and while shelter life can be a little loud for my taste, I’m learning that people are actually pretty great. Sudden noises still make me nervous, but give me a calm voice, gentle pets, and a cozy lap, and I turn into a happy little purr machine. I LOVE cheek scritches and those magical pets from head to tail. At first I didn’t know what a brush was, but now? Ohhh, now I get it. Spa day approved. I’m a playful guy with a serious passion for mouse wand toys, tunnel adventures, and trying to escape the catio so I can explore the world beyond. I’ve got curiosity, zoomies, and a healthy appetite all rolled into one adorable pickle package. If you’re looking for a sweet, playful companion who wants lap time, snack time, and adventure time, I’m your Pickles.

Story
Hi, I’m Gaia — a 6-year-old white and gray tabby with a gentle spirit, a soft heart, and a surprisingly playful side. My life hasn’t always been easy. I came in as a stray kitten through Skokie Animal Control and have been adopted and returned twice, never because of anything I did wrong, but because life threw some hard situations at the people who loved me. Through it all, I’ve stayed sweet, calm, and hopeful that my real forever home is still out there. Right now, I’m on a positive health journey. I’m working on losing weight and getting stronger, and I’m doing great with the extra TLC I’m receiving. I’m on a prescription diet to help prevent bladder stones, and with consistency and care, I’m feeling better every day. I can be a little shy at first and do best with calm, deliberate movements, sudden surprises aren’t really my thing. But once I trust you? Oh, I trust you. I love pets, brushing, being picked up, and yes… I am absolutely a lap cat. I’m also famous in my foster home for dramatically flopping over and rolling onto my back for belly rubs, sometimes directly in your path, just to make sure you don’t miss the opportunity. I’m playful and engaged, especially when it comes to wand toys, laser toys (the kind with fun shapes!), glitter balls, and anything involving catnip. Interactive play is my favorite, and I’ll happily chase, pounce, and then settle in close for some quiet companionship. I’m looking for a peaceful, loving home with someone patient and kind. A person who understands that a shy hello can turn into deep affection and a whole lot of belly rub requests. If you’re looking for a low-key, loving companion with a playful streak and a heart of gold, I’d really love to meet you. With love, Gaia 💛

Story
Hi. I’m Tony. I'm only two years old. Ruggedly handsome. Ears that tell a story. A heart that’s still learning how to trust again. Let’s get this out of the way: I’m not your instant best-friend, in-your-face, “love me!!!” kind of cat. I’m more of a slow-burn, “watch from across the room and decide if you’re cool” type. But once I decide you’re good people? I melt. Completely. I arrived at my current foster home back in early November, and I wouldn’t even sit near my foster mom. Now I climb onto the couch, curl up next to her, and fall asleep on her hand because it makes me feel safe. I even sit on her lap sometimes, but only because I chose it. (It’s all about the choices.) Sudden movements still spook me a bit, but I’m working on it. I want to trust, you can see it in the way I peek around corners, inch forward, and eventually flop next to you for chin rubs and those magical head scratches. Strangers? I’ll hide at first. But give me some time and a little quiet, and I’ll come out to say hello. I even let them give me pets, which is a big deal. For me, at least. Let’s talk likes and dislikes: ✔ Love: chin scratches, head pets, brushing, cozy naps, food, curling up right against my human ✖ Nope: being picked up, fast hands, loud chaos, and anyone expecting me to be brave on day one or even after week one. I’m a simple guy, feed me morning and night, give me a scratch pad, provide me with a space I can claim as my personal property, and I’m golden. I’ll even tell you when I’m hungry. (I’m polite, but not silent.) What I want most? A calm, gentle home with one or two humans who understand that trust takes time… and that a shy cat choosing you is one of the greatest compliments in the world. No small kids, no pets, just me and you learning each other at our own pace. I promise you this: once I feel safe, once I believe you’re mine, I’ll be the sweetest, softest, most endearing boy you’ve ever met. If you’re patient, I’ll give you my whole heart. Love, Tony

Story
Hi, I’m Quest — and I come with my brother Quinley! 🐾 I’m a playful, outgoing little explorer with a soft spot for cuddles and a heart that purrs the moment you pick me up. My brother Quinley and I are a bonded pair, which means we’re a built-in friendship team. Wherever I go, he’s my co-pilot, my wrestling partner, and my nap buddy. We’d really love to find a home together. 💛 I’m friendly when visitors stop by, though sometimes I take a moment to size things up. Once I decide you’re a friend, I’m all in. I love sitting on laps, being picked up, and soaking up pets. Brushing? Yes please. Cuddling? Absolutely. If you’re holding me, there’s a very good chance you’ll hear my happy little motor start up. One thing that makes me extra special is my adorable wobbly walk. It just adds to my charm and doesn’t slow me down one bit. I still zoom after toys and tumble around with Quinley like any curious kitten. My favorite toys include pointer lights, bell balls, and feather wands. Basically, if it moves, sparkles, or jingles, I’m ready for adventure. ✨ I use the litterbox like a pro (I prefer clumping litter), and I’m not picky about scratching posts. Sisal rope, carpet, horizontal… I like to keep my options open. I get along well with other cats, and while I haven’t met many kids yet, I’m gentle and affectionate. I’m still learning kitten manners and sometimes get a little nippy when I’m excited, but I’m working on it every day. After all, I’m still a baby figuring out the world. If you’re looking for double the love, double the purrs, and double the fun, Quinley and I might be your perfect match. We’re ready to bring laughter, cuddles, and tiny adventures into your home. Come meet us… we’re saving a cuddle spot just for you. 🐱💕

Story
Stormy and Zack are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. Hi, I’m Stormy, the soft-hearted cuddlebug of the duo. Zack may be the loud purr machine, but I’m the expert in cozy nap sessions. My favorite activities include snuggling with humans, curling up with Zac, and finding the warmest lap in the house for an afternoon snooze. I’m sweet, gentle, and very much a “go with the flow” kitten. I love attention, brushing, pets, and quiet companionship. I’m friendly with visitors and great with kids, though loud noises can make me a little cautious at first. Once I feel safe, though, I become a full-time snuggle assistant. Zack and I love all kinds of toys, especially springs and crinkly things we can chase across the floor. We also take our responsibilities as household entertainment very seriously. One minute we’re zooming around after toys, the next we’re asleep together in a fluffy cuddle puddle. We use the litterbox perfectly, enjoy every kind of scratching post imaginable, and truly adore each other. We’re looking for a home where we can stay together forever because life is simply better as Team Zack & Stormy.
