Meet Zuzu! This beautiful gal has aged like fine wine and has mastered the art of being a cat: she knows exactly how to get comfortable on a lap, she appreciates the finer things in life (like treats and belly rubs), and she has plenty of love left to give! 💕 While she enjoys the quiet life of a lap cat, Zuzu is far from "old and boring." She still has her playful bursts of energy! She’s the best of both worlds: she’ll keep you entertained with her playful antics, then settle down for a warm cuddle session. She is looking for a comfy home where she can retire in style, making biscuits on a warm lap, and sharing her loud, happy purr. She is also looking for someone who understands that sometimes she just wants her own space. Though starting with a good Churu treat is one way to work yourself into her heart. ❤️ Zuzu's original owner surrendered her to Chicago Animal Care and Control in hopes of her finding a better home. She is sweet and Sassy in all the best ways, but we know that home is out there! Zuzu is currently staying in a lovely foster home. While Richie jumped right into the spotlight, Ralphie is taking a little more time to come out of his shell — but trust us, he’s worth the wait. Gentle , a little shy and observant, Ralphie is the kind of kitten who’ll melt your heart with quiet cuddles and soft purrs once he feels safe and loved. He's already neutered, FeLV/FIV negative, and up-to-date on his FVRCP and Rabies vaccines, so he’s all set to start the next chapter of his life with you! Bernie is the BEST! He recently came to Heartland so that he could retire from street life. He was found outside by our Executive Director, Jenny, when she was helping TNR a big group of cats in the Lawndale are of Chicago. This guy is so mellow and chill and he would love nothing more than to be able to hang out and watch movies with the lucky person or family who decides to adopt him! Bernie has a great appetite and he loves and appreciates his wet food meals. One of his favorite things to do (besides taking a nice snooze) is to look out of the Cat Room window into the Cat Lounge waiting for someone, anyone to lock eyes with. This is his way of getting you to stop in to say hi. When you see his adorable face, it's really hard not to give in. Bernie is neutered, up-to-date on his FVRCP and Rabies vaccines and he is FeLV negative. He is FIV positive. This just means that there are some extra steps to keeping him healthy. FIV can weaken the cat's immune system. While FIV-positive cats can enjoy long, healthy lives, they can be hit harder by secondary infections. Please feel free to ask our Heartland Team for a more in-depth overview. He is currently staying at our Heartland Facility!
