Spayed or Neutered,

Story

Meet Rambo! She and her four siblings got a heroic start in life when some wonderful Heartland supporters spotted them outside and gave them a safe place to land. After getting some love and pampering in their finder's care, they made their way to us, spent time blossoming in a fantastic foster home, and are now officially back at the shelter! They’ve had quite the journey, but these beautiful babies are ready for a quiet home that will allow them to come out of their shells at their own pace. Here is what their foster mom has to say about her: "She came in as a stray to Heartland and she was very scared at first. You couldn't touch her or be close to her without hissing and she was always hiding. The good news is that in foster care, she has made a little progress. Rambo gets along with all of her siblings -- plays with every toy! Springs, ping pong balls, cat wands and feathers, laser light and any other toy she can get her paws on. She has enjoyed the cat trees, scratchers and tunnels! She has just started to come join her siblings in making biscuits -- while she is doing this, she welcomes being pet. All over body pets and will give you her belly for some extra. She has been enjoying the community fluffy, furry cat bed. Rambo does not like to be picked up. She is still very shy when she is approached. She hisses a lot - but it is just her 'talking' -- if you get her to lay down and pet her, she will give in and begin to enjoy. She will come right up to you with a churro treat in your hand -- she will lick it off of your finger -- she doesn't bite when she is doing this. She is used to having videos on or music. She will need time to trust her person -- strongly suggest to start her in a small room and spend time with her. She will begin to trust you before you give her the whole house." Rambo is spayed and up-to-date on her FVRCP and Rabies vaccines. She is currently staying at our Heartland Facility! We are open Thursday 4pm-7pm, Friday 4pm-7pm, Saturday Noon-6pm and Sunday Noon-6pm. Feel free to stop by to meet her! No appointment necessary.

Spayed or Neutered,

Story

Meet Maxine! Maxine the Queen, that is. Originally adopted when she was a little over a year old, she unfortunately found herself back in our care a year later when her previous family could no longer look after her. Through no fault of her own, she’s ready to turn the page and start a fresh chapter. While Maxine has a big personality, she also values her peace and quiet. Maxine would do best in a calm, low-stress household where she can decompress at her own pace. She is a independent lady who would be perfectly happy as your one-and-only queen, but she could also potentially coexist with another laid-back feline friend. If you have a quiet home, a cozy cat bed and a patient heart for a gorgeous girl who just needs someone to understand her boundaries, Maxine might just be your perfect match! Maxine is spayed, up-to-date on FVRCP and Rabies vaccinations, and FIV and FeLV negative. Maxine is currently staying in a lovely foster home. Email cats@heartlandanimalshelter.org to set up a time to meet her!

Spayed or Neutered,

Story

Meet Tia! This beautiful tortie girl has a gentle soul and a heart that's just waiting to bloom. Tia came to Heartland alongside her friend, Christy, after they were surrendered to Chicago Animal Care and Control when their family had to move to housing that didn't allow cats. Through all the changes, Tia has remained a quiet, sweet companion who simply needs a little time and patience to feel safe. While she may be shy when meeting new people, Tia is the kind of cat who will reward your kindness with quiet companionship as she gains confidence. She enjoys peaceful surroundings where she can observe the world at her own pace and would love a family that understands that the best friendships are sometimes the ones that grow slowly. If you're looking for a gentle, loving cat to share your home with, Tia may be the perfect match. And if you have room for two, consider adopting Tia and her dear friend Christy together—they've already helped each other through so much and would love to start their next chapter side by side. Tia is spayed, up-to-date on her FVRCP and Rabies vaccines and she is FIV and FeLV negative. She is currently staying at our Heartland Facility! We are open Thursday 4 pm-7 pm, Friday 4 pm-7 pm, Saturday Noon-6 pm, and Sunday Noon-6 pm. Feel free to stop by to meet her! No appointment necessary.
