Grizzly and his siblings were born in early March, 2025. The family of four were yet more victims of someone’s ignorance to get their cats spayed and neutered. We were fortunate to rescue them from a situation that was not ideal. The family took a little time to adjust to new surroundings but all became very sweet, and all with the loudest purrs. Grizzly is a handsome mackerel tabby buff boy. He is the alpha of the family and can be a little untrusting. That is until you bring out the food! Then he realizes “you’re not so bad” and even lets you pick him up. And the purring never stops. Please consider adopting Grizzly with one of his litter mates, as a companion would definitely benefit him and you. Grizzly is vaccinated, altered, FeLV/FIV tested negative and microchipped. START was called to a local yard where a mother cat had given birth to six little ones. A very wise mom had made herself comfortable in a screened in porch. We brought the family in to safety and watched the kittens thrive. Born on March 7, 2023, Doyle is a beautiful brown tiger girl. Though still a youngster, Doyle has a very calming nature. She gets along well with other cats but just loves to relax in her cat tower. She would do great in a quiet home with a feline friend. Nico is a beautiful black and white tuxedo girl. Born in mid July, 2022, her “half moustache” is only part of her cuteness. She loves to look at you with her soulful eyes and will even talk to you. She is full of life and full of personality. You could say that this little one wants to be your best friend. The perfect companion for those lazy nights on the couch. At first glance, Nico looks like any ordinary cat, but in fact she has something very special about her. Nico is paralyzed. Nico was found in the street, crying out for someone to come to her aid. A young girl picked her up and reached out to S.T.A.R.T. for guidance. We brought Nico in and immediately rushed her to the vet. The heart of a rescuer is strong but seeing any animal in a helpless state can break you. After an exam and x-rays, we received both good news and bad news. The good news was that nothing was broken. The bad news was ………. that nothing was broken. Nothing broken means there is nothing to repair. She most likely has suffered from a ruptured disk which has left her with no mobility or feeling in her back end. You may think that a cat in her condition will never live a full life. All you have to do is meet Nico and you realize just how full of life she is. She loves to play, she loves to eat, and she absolutely loves to be loved! Of course, her maintenance is a little more involved than a regular house cat. Her bladder needs to be expressed 3-4 times daily. A fairly easy task but keeping her on a schedule is key. We are looking to find her a forever home with someone who has experience in paralysis and what Nico’s limitations and capabilities may be. She has truly opened our eyes to what is important in life. Nico is vaccinated, altered, FeLV/FIV tested negative and microchipped. Catalina or "Lina" for short is an extremely loving and playful American Short Hair. Born in early February, 2024, Lina is so beautiful with her long legs, mostly white body and all black tail. Watching her prance around and run back and forth from you to her bowl when it's time for a meal is the cutest thing to see. She is extremely loving and playful and you will find her snuggled up with you in bed in the middle of the night. She is the perfect companion for another younger kitty or kitties and would do great with kids who want a playful, loyal friend. She loves rough housing with her 6 year old foster sister, chasing lasers and her other toys. Her favorite thing to do is to eat Churu's Cat Treats. She will run and jump on anyone's lap who has one and says, "Time for a lollipop?" When you see her face scrunch up and little tongue licking up every little bit, it will surely melt your heart as it has ours.
