She loses proteins from her bloodstream into her GI tract faster than her body can replenish them and her medical management helps regulate this condition.Cleo’s daily life is unaffected by this and she does your everyday dog things. The only addition is giving her medication (pills) with her morning and evening meals which she takes without problem.Still interested? Then you’re ready to hear our secret..—--Cleo is a GEM. A truly one-of-a-kind companion. So without further ado, here’s what you need to know about Cleo!Extremely smart. Eats her own poop. In a glass-half-full kind of world, you could consider her a self-poop picker-upper. (But really, you are going to have to go out in those subzero temps and pick up her poop before she does.)She is well potty trained but her medications/condition cause some accidents if she is unable to be let out after a certain amount of time. She understands cues quickly and even knows sit, shake, high five, and can catch her food mid-air!Farts can clear a room. They just get stronger. Rootin’ Tootin’ Cleo should be in the Guinness Book of Records or something.Teeters on being the fun police. Still fun.Cleo coexists with dogs big and small but can sometimes be a playtime hall monitor. That said, if she finds the right dog with the right playstyle, she has a good time playing chase and wrestling!Loves tug o’ war. Hates fetch. If you throw her toy, she’s going to look at you like what are you even doing.On a scale of one to barky, she’s about a five. While Cleo doesn’t bark all day long, she is going to warn you about car doors slamming, people talking, the general goings on of the world. Cleo’s favorite times of the day are, hands down, breakfast and dinner. And she’s got that only child syndrome (I can say that, I’m an only child) where everything is hers. Her food. Her toys. Your food. All hers. And she will tell anyone who needs to know.Supposedly a Chihuahua/Pug mix. Definitely just as needy. Pug parents, am I right? Cleo will climb on your lap, push her way to your hands, and really doesn’t care if she’s stepping on another dog to get to the top. We mean that figuratively. Well.. except for those times when she’s literally walking over a dog to get to you.Likes to give kisses. Licks everything. Literally everything.. the couch, the floor, the carpet, the coffee table, your clothes, and your face.Cleo is great with kids of all ages but it’s probably best that she live in a home with teens or no kids on account of how much she loves food. Because she has PLE, Cleo needs to be on a restricted diet and can’t be catching scraps or snagging food from those little hands. Because she would. She totally would.This girl’s personality is a great balance of play and chill, and she walks so well on a leash.. when it’s actually warm out.. A lap dog through and through, Cleo wants to be snuggled in with you, often under a blanket (Chihuahua parents, you get it). Benjamin is very sweet, cuddly, very snuggly and will follow you everywhere, he does have arthritis setting in in his hind legs and his hind legs are partially deformed which doctor has said as long as he stays at 13 pounds requires controlled feeding and doesn't jump meaning he needs stairs for sofa and bed.... Doesnt ike his legs messed with and can be slightly aggressive with other animals. Has had one knee surgery with his knee cap banded in place has crooked front paw as well is also trained to wear doggie diapers inside when left alone. Would be a wonderful only dog with a lot of love to offer his new parent......

Elliot is a special dog. While he is small in stature, he is large in personality. Elliot loves to play and bounce around, but after a few minutes, he really wants a lap to snuggle on. Elliot has a small cleft lip that is purely cosmetic. He eats well and has no complaints. We think it makes him even more beautiful. Elliot also has hydrocephalus. This does not slow him down a bit. He runs and plays and does not know there is anything different about him. At this time no treatment is ongoing. Surgery has not been recommended by his vet, and he is not on any medications. Elliot is estimated to be 1 year old and 5 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested. Hydrocephalus is a buildup of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the brain. Life expectancy for dogs with hydrocephalus depends on several factors, including how severe symptoms are. Elliot tilts his head slightly to the right and intermittently holds up his back legs or hops while he's running. Although these symptoms don't slow this boy down - he still loves to play, prance, and run around. What we don't know is if these symptoms will remain the same or become more severe as he grows. Right now, he is a happy, playful puppy who enjoys everything a typical puppy enjoys. Meet Charlie! He's a spitfire Chihuahua ready for his golden years! He's been doing great with us so far, and is warming up quickly to people. He was likely mishandled by young children in the home, so teenagers and adults are a much better fit. Due to this, he's a little unsure of new folks handling him. He loves other dogs and cats and has really enjoys his 4-legged friends. He also LOVES rope toys, which is super funny for his little size! Charlie wants to do the right thing, but sometimes gets a little confused. If he's too unsure of something he may react out of fear- once he knows you, he's eager to please. For example, to get picked up or held he knows "up" and will line right up IF he's in the mood. If he doesn't want to be picked up, he will promptly go in the other direction. Charlie is SMART- but is still learning that new people are safe- he does have some puppy-like mouthy behaviors and is doing great redirecting that onto a toy- he loves to play tug! There's a lot of spunk left to discover, but he really enjoys relaxing and coexisting with folks. He's not afraid to take a nap on someone he just met! Charlie is a chihuahua through and through! He's just a senior looking to spend his golden years in comfort. He's food motivated and curious. Medical stuff: Charlie has patellar luxation in both rear legs, meaning the kneecap can move out of its normal position. Patellar luxation is a common disorder of small or toy breeds and is usually hereditary, although it can be caused by an injury. This dog has a grade 2 out of 4 patellar luxation in both the right and left rear legs, with grade 4 being a kneecap that is permanently out of position. Many dogs with patellar luxation will occasionally hold up the affected leg or limp when the patella luxates, but will recover quickly once the patella moves back into place. He has not had active symptoms since in the care of is foster in Mid-October. Charlie was noted to have a right-sided apical systolic heart murmur with the grade 3 out of 6, with grade 6 being the most severe. Medication has not been deemed necessary for him at this time. Charlie will need a dental cleaning with extractions in the future. Given he has a heart murmur, a cardiac work up will likely be recommended prior to a dental procedure to evaluate for anesthetic risks. *We only adopt and foster our animals within a 60 mile radius from New Brighton, MN* All of our adoptable animals can be seen by appointment.
