Age: Approximately 10 years old Weight: 10 lbs Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: TBD more than likely yes Kid friendly: Yes. Older/considerate kids would be best Potty trained: Yes Crate trained: Does well being left loose in the house alone Meet Pumba, an adorable chocolate chihuahua looking for his forever home! Pumba walks well on a leash, enjoys strolls, and loves a large fenced yard. This resilient little guy is looking for a loving home where he can feel secure and cherished.    He may come on your lap periodically but he prefers to watch his environment in his open crate & is not a cuddler. Pumba is very independent, loves food and needs to be fed separately to prevent resource guarding. He's fine with humans around his food but prefers not to share with other dogs. He currently lives with two small dogs and one large dog but pays no attention to them as he perfectly happy just coexisting. He would love more one-on-one attention. Pumba loves to burrowing under blankets at the foot of the bed at bedtime. So cute!   Pumba is best with older, considerate children. He’s potty trained and doesn't need a crate, doing well when left loose in the house. He can be vocal if crated and left alone, so a single dwelling is ideal.   Despite a tough past, Pumba's spirit is unbroken. Found malnourished and flea-infested in a Texas shelter, his previous owners never came for him, but he's ready for a brighter future. Could you be the perfect match for Pumba? Apply on our website ( https://www.healingheartsrescue.org/adopt )  to  set up a private meeting or check below for my adoption event schedule.   Age: Approximately 3 years old Weight: 12 lbs Dog friendly: Yes, with slow introductions Cat friendly: Yes Kid friendly: Yes, with older kids Potty trained: Yes, good on a schedule Crate trained: Working on it!   Seeking an energetic and devoted snuggle buddy with massive potential? Asia is a nimble, perceptive, and loving 12-15 pound chihuahua mix, with maybe some Jack Russell or dachshund. She came to foster care quite shut down, with no interest in toys or skills beyond potty training (potty habits are excellent, by the way—she has remarkable bladder control, so sleeping in is no problem). She’s since learned a half dozen commands and plays fetch with her beloved ducky toy; her personality evolves every day, so we’re sure there are even more delightful developments in her future! It’s all about avoiding surprises and channeling energy for this girl. She will need either a fenced yard or an active adopter! Asia lives with and tolerates cats and other dogs with thoughtful introductions. She’s still learning that new people aren’t scary, and needs a family without small children or heavy visitor traffic. Asia will crate for transport and handles car rides well, and is making great progress in kenneling in the home. She deeply bonds with her people and would love someone who is around a lot. She would do best without shared walls. She thrives with plenty of exercise and stimulation, and when motivated (ahem, somebody loves food) she demonstrates excellent problem-solving and agility. She would be ideal for someone willing to channel her energy into productive learning, such as agility training, but who also loves under-the-cover snuggles at night and long belly-rub sessions during the day. If you’re ready to invest in Asia, she will invest in you! Adoption Fee: $495  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.INTERESTED IN MEETING ME? Apply on our website ( https://www.healingheartsrescue.org/adopt )  to  set up a private meeting or check below for my adoption event schedule. Age: Approximately 1-1.5 years old Weight: 17 lbs Dog friendly: Fine after slow intro. Cat friendly: Likely fine after slow intro. Kid friendly: Older kids would be best Potty trained: YES Crate trained: YES *Physical Fence Required.* Brene Brownie bonds hard to her person/people and is very much a lap dog/snuggle buddy. If you need a shadow or a super snuggler, she is it. She is VERY affectionate, VERY sweet, and can be very silly.  She's loves to play with toys and her foster fur sister. She loves to use her brain: nosework, food puzzles, and snuffle mats would be ideal to keep her mentally challenged. She loves learning and working.  If you like the energy and personality of Jack Russell Terriers, you'll love Brownie. She knows "sit", "lay down," shake," hand-targeting with "touch", and "get on your mat." She is crate trained and potty trained and knows the cues "get in your box" and "go potty." She handles baths well, does fine in the car, and has been completely unbothered by all the thunderstorms and fireworks. She needs a fenced yard for exercise. She does great on walks in quiet, calm areas with no or very few dogs, but gets overstimulated and is leash reactive if dogs are too close (e.g., she is unable to stay calm if they are within about ~50-75ft of her right now). She is doing better with training, but right now she is not a good candidate for an apartment, townhome, or busy area. Her foster is committed to providing training support after adoption. She happily lives with two beagles and loves to play with them, but she needs slow introductions to other dogs so she can build trust. It took several days to integrate her into her foster home. Overall, there's lots to love about Ms. Brownie, she's quite the find!   Adoption Fee: $425  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.INTERESTED IN MEETING ME? Age: Approximately 3 years old Weight: 4 pounds Dog friendly: yes, needs one in home Cat friendly: unknown Kid friendly: yes, older considerate kids only Potty trained: yes Crate trained: yes but doesn’t need one Little Miss Bambi is about a 3 year old Chihuahua. She is 4 pounds of total cuteness and all love you possibly want and then some. She has one eye that is half brown and half blue. Bambi will need to have another dog friend to play with. She likes to play with all of her dog friends with her toys, playing tug of war or just zooming around in the house or outside. She is happy to just sit on your lap getting belly rubs and sleep or to sleep under the blankets next to your chest. She is great with potting outside, using a puppy door, riding in a car, walking on a leash. She isn't fond of a lot of steps, like going down to the basement but going up and down just a few she is good with that. Bambi is an amazing little girl, she gets along with all two or four legged friends and believes that she can do anything. Oh, did I say that she is the cutest little thing around! Story
Hi I'm Willow!  My foster mommy says I'm a very sweet girl who gives amazing kisses. I'm a little girl at about 18 lbs chihuahua mix (I look like a chiweenie), but I have BIG love to give! In my current foster home there are two dogs my age/size and we get along really great..with the one we even started snuggling once or twice. We LOVE to play and run around chasing each other back and forth, play tug and wrestle - I love it!!! I would love to have a big brother or sister doggie to play with. My foster parents think a fenced in yard would be best for me to run and play and get out my zoomies of course!  I love to cuddle! Cuddling my foster papa at night is really my favorite (don't tell foster mommy). I burrow myself under the covers and settle right in. I'm really not a fan of the kennel, especially if my people or other dogs are not around. Currently I do ok in a kennel during the day while my foster parents are at work, but I'm also between my two foster brothers in their kennels so I feel secure. I'm potty trained on a schedule and know to do my business outside. My fosters noticed recently I try to get my people's attention by annoying them or going to the door and lightly pawing it. I'm housetrained and don't try to get into things that aren't mine.. as long as there are doggie toys and stuffies for me to focus on. Put some treats/food in a Kong and I'll keep myself entertained. Did I mention I'm a championship cuddler? Sometimes I get a bit excited by strangers outside and want to protect my people from those bad guys delivering boxes, but I settle quickly with some positive reinforcement!  I can be shy when meeting new people. With a calm approach and (once I know you're a good person) I warm up within  minutes even giving random kisses on occasion..  I'm pretty good in the car. I like to look out the windows and usually settle after a bit. I'm good on a leash too! We went walking at a car show recently and even at this place called Home Depot and even Petsmart. With a little more practice I'll be a pro soon enough. I'm still working on commands like sit and stay but I'm very treat motivated so training me should go well if you have those little treats to reward me. So far "sit" is going well and I know to sit nice to enter the house after going potty because I'm such a smart girl, if I do say so myself.  There aren't any kids in my current home but my foster home but I've met a few and loved them giving them kisses and getting pets and hugs.  My foster mom just realized I like to play fetch. Its so much fun! Hopefully you like what you've read and would like to meet me and make me a member of your family. I promise you won't regret it. Love, Willow   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Hi there, my name is Camille and I’m a three year old Chihuahua mix. I am potty trained and kennel trained. I am very cuddly. I love to sit next to my foster mom in her chair. When she is not in the chair, I will keep it warmed up for her. I have to say that I am so nervous when there is a thunderstorm. I wear a thunder jacket to help me calm down. I do find places to hide like behind the toilet or in the closet. It does take me a little while to warm up to you but if you sit down, I will join you. When I go outside, I run around some but I come right over to you to get the leash hooked up. I am hoping that perfect, calm person is looking for me right now. Are you the one?    Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, dental, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Are you looking for a playful and loving companion to brighten your days? Introducing Andy, the unique black Chiweenie boy with a heart full of joy and a personality that’s impossible to resist.    Andy is a bundle of playful energy and affection. He loves being around his people and enjoys playing with other dogs. Though he’s still learning to listen well, his clumsy, adorable antics make him a joy to have around.   Andy would do best in a home where he can get plenty of attention and playtime. He loves other dogs but also would do well being an only pet since he's very good at entertaining himself. His new family should be patient and willing to work with him on his listening skills, using positive reinforcement and lots of love. After all that play, she loves to cuddle up and get her beauty rest.    Alice would thrive in an active and loving home where she can get plenty of attention and playtime. She’s great with other dogs and children, making her a versatile addition to any family. Her new family should be ready for a lively, talkative pup who will keep them entertained and loved.   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Lobo is a 3yr old Chihuahua mix. He is a super boy, big lapdog. He is doing extremely well on house training. He is a big cuddler and prefers your bed and not his kennel at night. He rides nicely in the car and loves to chase a squirrel. He barks at the mailman and dogs when looking out windows but doesn’t carry on about it. He is a very friendly boy who has not been around kids. I think he could travel if that is the lifestyle you lead. He gets along pretty well with other dogs but doesn’t like them laying on him! He eats well and is very treat motivated. We are working on recall as this is something that takes time and repetition. He is a lovely boy who doesn’t need another dog in the home.    Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Dental, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $495.00Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 26, 2024, 4:02 pm
