Story
For a dog who spent more than 2 months surviving on her own in the woods, Koa has turned out to be remarkably adaptable. She's smart, easygoing, wonderful with other animals, and happiest when she's simply spending time with her people.
This young Chow girl is currently about 38 pounds and still gaining weight as she recovers. While she may be a little reserved when meeting new people, she quickly becomes a devoted companion once she decides you're one of her people. Before long, she'll be following you from room to room, curling up beside you on the couch, and keeping you company throughout the day.
Koa's Highlights:
- Dog friendly
- Cat friendly
- No resource guarding
- Excellent on leash
- House companion extraordinaire
Personality:
Koa has all the classic Chow dignity, but she's paired it with an unusually easygoing attitude around other animals. She lives peacefully with dogs and cats and mostly prefers spending her time focused on her humans.
She enjoys walks, has wonderful leash manners, and is just as happy spending the evening relaxing on the couch. She's not a high-energy dog, but she does appreciate a good daily walk and quality time with her family.
Koa does have some separation anxiety, which is understandable given everything she's been through. She's happiest in a home where she gets plenty of companionship, exercise, and a predictable routine. Once settled, she's content to curl up and nap while her people go about their day.
Fun Fact:
Koa is brave enough to survive alone in the woods for months...
...but wet grass? Absolutely not. If the yard is damp from rain, sprinklers, or morning dew, she'd much rather negotiate for a walk than step onto soggy grass.
Koa has already proven she's resilient. Now she's looking for something much simpler: a family, a couch, and a person to follow around for the rest of her life. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a gentle heart and an easygoing nature, Koa may be your perfect match.
