Good with dogs,
Story
Five months old. Twenty-five pounds. Sheltie crossed with border collie. Coat so soft you'll find yourself reaching down to pet him without realizing you're doing it. Meet Dutch. He's on track to grow into a 40 to 45 pound adult. Smart in the way only sheltie and border collie crosses are smart, picking up new commands in a day or two and remembering them. The kind of dog who watches you to figure out what you're going to do next. If you've ever wanted a dog you can actually train, this is the one. Dutch is a Velcro dog. He wants to be near his person. Working from home, watching TV, walking room to room, he's right there. But he's not clingy in a needy way. When it's time to play, he's just as happy out in the yard with another dog, burning off energy and coming back when he's done. He's currently in foster with six foster sisters and one foster brother and gets along with all of them. If you've got another dog at home, he already knows how to share space. Dutch came to us after someone dumped him at the side of the road. That part of his life is over. What he needs now is a person who's done looking and ready to commit. If that sounds like you, let's talk. All of our adoptions are spay/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and microchipped. Animal-Angels Foundation is a Best Friends Network Partner, which connects us to the largest lifesaving network in the country. Story
Meet Hank. 76 pounds of pit bull and pure tank of love. Someone dropped him off without a note and drove away. He should be wary of people after that. He is not. He still trusts every human he meets. Hank is active with a chill streak. He loves a mix of short runs and long walks, so if you want an outdoorsy partner, he is your guy. He loves car rides too. He is loyal and family-focused. He has been tested with big kids and does great. Someone home for part of the day will suit him best. When Hank claims you, he tells you so with outgoing playful gentle nipping. He does the same with other dogs he likes. It looks bigger than it is. It fades as you get to know each other, but you should know about it in advance so the first time you see it you do not read it as something it is not. He is laid back, but if another dog comes at him aggressively, he will defend himself. That is honest, not a red flag. Most dogs do this. Things we cannot confirm yet. He has not been tested with cats, so do not assume he is fine with them. We are not 100 percent sure on his crate training history. And he is hesitant on slick flooring, so a household with rugs and carpet will be an easier transition than one that is mostly hardwood or tile. If you have been waiting for a loyal, active, 76-pound pit bull who wants to spend the next decade making you his favorite person, Hank is yours. All of our adoptions are spay/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and microchipped. Story
NEED ADOPTOR OR FOSTER ASAP. Nova is about six years old. She is blind. Her current human, Haley, loves her with her whole heart and would have kept her forever if life had let her. Haley is pregnant. Due in July. No support system to manage a senior blind dog and a newborn at the same time. The easy answer would have been 'take her to a shelter.' We knew the shelters were full. A senior blind dog goes to the back of the line at any of them, if she gets in at all. So we did what AAF does. We set up a foster-of-record arrangement. Haley stays with Nova until the baby comes. AAF pays for her food, her supplies, her vet care. AAF actively looks for the right adopter. A local groomer donated free grooming so Nova is shiny and ready for her adoption photos. Here is what Haley wants you to know about Nova. She gets around. She is not slowing down. She still plays with her toys. She loves car rides. She loves cats. She gets along with other dogs really well. She is blind, not anxious. She moves through her familiar space confidently and adapts to new spaces if you give her time. She is housebroken. She does not bark much. What Nova needs is a patient adopter who has had a senior dog before. If you have a cat, even better. If you take road trips and want a quiet co-pilot, she is your dog. She still has plenty of life in her. Haley is not surrendering Nova because she stopped loving her. She is doing the harder thing. She is asking for help so Nova ends up where she belongs instead of in a kennel. If that family is you, let's talk. All of our adoptions are spay/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and microchipped. Animal-Angels Foundation is a Best Friends Network Partner, which connects us to the largest lifesaving network in the country. Story
Bella is about 6 months old, white with a black patch over her left eye, and a Pit mix. She is playful, loves kids, gets along with other dogs, and is comfortable indoors and out. The photo of her perched in a baby high chair watching the room tells you exactly the kind of curious girl she is. She has lived in a fenced yard with her brother Rebel. She has not been tested with cats. Bella is still a puppy, so she needs training, structure, and a family ready for the work that goes into raising a great adult dog. We are placing her through Managed Rehoming and learning more about her as she settles in. She does not have to be adopted with Rebel, but they have lived together their whole lives. If you have room for both, that is the easier transition for them. All of our adoptions are spay/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and microchipped. Animal-Angels Foundation is a Best Friends Network Partner, which connects us to the largest lifesaving network in the country. Story
NEED ADOPTOR OR FOSTER ASAP. When Baby was a puppy, she was trapped in a house fire in Gadsden, Alabama. Two people died in that fire. A Gadsden firefighter found her, pulled her out, and took her to Central Valley Veterinary in Gadsden. She survived. She still has scars on her back. She still has nightmares about it sometimes. The man who took her home from the vet at 14 weeks old is named Danny. She has slept in his bed every night since. Now Danny's living situation is changing. He has about a month to find Baby a home. He is asking for help so she does not have to start over from scratch. Here is what Danny wants you to know about Baby. She is almost three years old. She is house-trained, spayed, heartworm negative, registered with Alabama Bullies. She walks on a leash. She lives indoors and only goes outside to potty. She gets along with all dogs, big and small. She loves women. She loves everybody. She is also high strung. She barks. She is scared of fire, of candles, of storms, of fireworks, of loud noises. She will sit in front of a fireplace when it is cold, but only if her dog brother is next to her. There is one hard truth you have to know about Baby before you apply. She will kill a cat. She is also death on rats, mice, squirrels, and rabbits. If you have a cat, do not apply. Save her the heartbreak of being returned. If you do not have a cat, Baby is the kind of dog who will love you with her whole self for the rest of her life. She acts tough but she is scared of her own shadow. Danny wakes her up when she cries in her sleep. He wants someone to keep doing that for her. All of our adoptions are spay/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and microchipped. Animal-Angels Foundation is a Best Friends Network Partner, which connects us to the largest lifesaving network in the country. Our adoptable pets are also published to Adopt-a-Pet.com, the largest non-profit pet adoption website in North America. Story
Penny was found as a stray. We do not know much about how she got there. What we know about her now is that she landed with AAF and made herself at home immediately. She has lived with five foster sisters and one foster brother in our foster network, plus rotated through more foster siblings beyond that. She gets along with dogs of every shape and size. That is the useful thing to know about a dog before you adopt her. She also has opinions. Penny is bossy with other dogs. When she wants them to do something, she tells them so. Sometimes with a bark. Sometimes with body language. Sometimes both. None of it is aggression. It is leadership. The other dogs in her foster home figured it out fast and life moves on around her. What else you should know about Penny. She loves attention. She loves car rides. She loves squeaky balls and braided rope toys. And when she talks to you, she makes these little woo-woo sounds that you do not realize you needed in your life until you hear them. She has not been tested with cats or with children. Do not assume she is fine with either. She needs a household where neither is in the picture, or where her introduction can be done slowly and on her terms. She needs grooming every three to four months. That is the rhythm she has settled into and it works. All of our adoptions are spay/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and microchipped. Animal-Angels Foundation is a Best Friends Network Partner, which connects us to the largest lifesaving network in the country.
