Story
Lacey is one lucky pup! She came to AFRP from a local vet clinic after needing emergency surgery to remove a 26" shoe lace from her intestines. Happily, Lacey has recovered beautifully and she's feeling great. Lacey is a happy and playful 4-year-old, 11-pound terrier mix that gets along nicely with other small dogs. (She is reactive with large dogs.) She can be a bit fearful and anxious with new people and new situations, but once she feels secure her fun personality emerges. Lacey is a smart and somewhat stubborn and headstrong girl that is doing great with her potty training. She's looking for an experienced adult adopter (no kids) with time to give her lots of attention, can head-off negative behaviors and can consistently encourage good manners. She requires a friendly and playful small dog buddy in the home. Lacey can jump very high and she's an agile climber, so a very secure yard is a must. She has a history of pica (eating non-food items) and although she is doing well in her foster home, this is something an adopter should be aware of. Lacey is currently in foster care. To arrange a meeting with Lacey or to learn more about her, please fill out an online application.

Story
Little Bear and his best friend Sadie, also on the web, are looking for a home together! Adopted from AFRP several years ago, they recently returned to our care when their beloved owner passed away. Little Bear is a sweet 12-year-old senior and weighs about 10 pounds. He's a happy and affectionate lap dog that loves belly rubs and back scratches. He is crate trained and sleeps all night snuggled with Sadie - and he also loves to groom her! Little Bear and Sadie enjoy taking two short walks per day. He is a bit nervous when around large dogs after surviving a dog attack in the past. Little Bear has a heart murmur and he takes one medication in the morning and night. Bear's adopter will need to work closely with their vet to monitor his health. You won't find a more special pair of dogs. Can you help make their golden years filled with love? For more information or to arrange a meet and greet, please fill out an online dog application. Visit www.animalfriendsrescue.org for our online dog application.

Story
Introducing Carly, AFRP's favorite pillow princess. While she's as cute as can be, Carly does come with some baggage of her own. Some things to note; Carly is not a walker, Carly is a backyard-er. She loves the freedom of having somewhere to roam without having to put up with all the scaries in the world AKA preferably staying home with someone all day. (She is not a going out kinda girl, she doesn't want to go to restaurants, parks, or beaches.) Due to her rough start in life, Carly becomes very stressed out on walks and new environments, she barks at the things that scare her but does amazing in a familiar space. Carly does not play fetch, tug of war, or anything that could be considered lowly for her. Carly does play "save my baby", in which you politely give her the toy she has dropped near you 500 times. Carly IS the center of attention. While she does good with cats and dogs, she prefers to be the only pet in the house. Due to her resource guarding, Carly needs a home with adult adopters only. Carly has been with us since 2021, and she's determined to find her picture perfect home, but comes with requirements of her own. An experienced owner who is willing to give Carly a calming, low-key life and has experience with dogs who will resource guard is best. Someone who is willing to continue work with a behaviorist or training is mandatory. Carly is on anxiety medication, this is also something a future owner will have to be comfortable maintaining. Carly is currently in foster care. Meet and greets can be arranged once your application has been received and approved. Visit www.animalfriendsrescue.org for our online dog application.

Story
Fall in love with Sidney, a darling 2-year-old, 6-pound Terrier mix. Like most Terriers, Sidney acts like she's a big dog trapped in a tiny package. Currently, in foster care, Sidney has made a lot of progress since coming to AFRP as a fearful stray from Hitchcock Road Animal Services. She has warmed up to her foster family and enjoys playing with the other dogs in her foster home, both large and small. From the first moment, she considered herself the queen of the house who owns all toys. She recently graduated from basic obedience training, and her foster family plans to continue her training while she waits for her right match to come along. She still is very reactive and very vocal in new situations. Patience and consistency are required when meeting new people. Once she is comfortable with you she is the ultimate lover. Sidney enjoys playing with toys and romping in the yard. Sidney is doing well with her potty training when taken outside regularly. Sidney feels secure in her own home. She is still very reactive when going to unfamiliar places or meeting strangers. When going for walks, she's working on not barking at everyone she sees! Sidney will do best with an adopter that is familiar with the needs of small reactive dogs and can work with her to build confidence. Due to her reactive nature, we are seeking an adult-only family. Sidney is a flight risk and needs a secure yard and a home with baby gates to prevent door-dashing. Sidney is also seeking a home with no cats. Meet and greets can be arranged once your online application has been received and approved. Visit www.animalfriendsrescue.org for our online adoption application.

Story
Meet Archer (otherwise known as Archie)! Archer is mixed breed with a gorgeous brindle coat and big brown eyes. This handsome guy came to us from Hitchcock Road Animal Services diagnosed with parvovirus. After veterinary treatment and rest, Archer won the long hard battle and is now excited to run, play, and live his best life. He is all about play, especially if squeaky toys are involved, is very treat-motivated, and loves cuddling on the couch. You just have to meet him and you'll instantly fall in love. Archer is looking for an active adopter who can help continue his puppy training and socialization with consistency. He would love a home with a fenced backyard and will do best with children 10 and up. He also would love a home with another dog of similar size/energy, or he would be okay as a single dog as well. He also gets along well with cats that are dog-friendly and properly introduced. Archer comes with a pre-registration training requirement for puppy manners/puppy obedience classes. Archer is currently undergoing an 8 -week long training program with Unchained! He will be unable to be adopted during this time, but we will still accept and review applications while he is in training. Archer is currently in foster care. Meet and greets can be arranged once your online application has been received and approved. Visit www.animalfriendsrescue.org for our required online application.

Story
Meet Zoe! This little girl came to AFRP with her littermates. While Zoe is the runt of the litter she makes up for it with a big personality! She can be a little timid upon first meeting people so she needs an adopter that will be patient, and go at her speed. Once she is comfortable with you she is a cuddly, affectionate pup. We are seeking an adopter that has the time to spend with her through the day to continue her puppy training, and socialization. Due to her young age and size, Zoe will do best with gentle children 10 and up. She would love another friendly confident dog in the home to help show her the ropes. She is unknown with cats. Zoe is currently in foster care. Meet and greets can be arranged once your online application has been received and approved. Visit www.animalfriendsrescue.org for our required online application.
