Story
Looks like: Papillon mix Female, 10 months old (estimated), 6 pounds Bindi is a young, medically challenging puppy who was picked up as a stray in Salinas. This poor girl was found hobbling around experiencing some obvious neurological issues. Poor thing! We can't even imagine her out in the big world by herself. Bindi is searching for a family with people who can be home with her most of the day, as she does topple over and has a challenging time getting back up. She will also need baths more regularly than your average pup, as she sometimes topples into her potty piles. She seems to love being around other, gentle dogs and she even gets the zoomies! She would do best in a home with minimal obstructions as she can get stuck in odd places when she's exploring. While we think her vision is impaired, she is still able to navigate her surroundings once she learns them. Bindi has come a long way in the past few months with her loving foster. We are excited to share that Bindi was assessed by a neurologist and received an MRI. Bindi will likely be a special needs dog her whole life, stemming from malnourishment early in her development. They don't, however, think this is causing her any pain! We are hopeful her balance and general wellbeing will continue to improve with a balanced diet and comfortable lifestyle. She may also benefit from physical therpay for balance. If you are interested, please watch the video at the end of her profile here for a closer look at her symptoms. Please note that she is always kept in a safe and monitored environment here, and she is able to get herself back up and keep her head safe when falling. While Bindi has already been through so much in her short life, she still has much to learn. Puppy socialization is critical to lifelong behavior and skills for any dog, so we want to ensure Bindi's next home is up for meeting her medical needs as well as her socialization and exposure needs as a growing puppy. Bindi joined us from Hitchcock Road Animal Services after she was found as a stray. While Bindi isn't our usual senior dog, she was out of options due to her medical need. With no other rescues able to take her in, we decided Bindi was destined to become a POMDR pup!

Story
Looks like: Shih Tzu Female, 13 years old (estimated), 14 pounds Adorable Astrid gets along well with other dogs both big and small, always greeting with enthusiasm and a wagging tail. She'd love to land in a warm home with a person who can give her all the cuddles and snuggles she desires. This sweet squishy faced little lady has lived quite the life. We don't know what her days were like prior to joining POMDR, but she has definitely been through a lot. Astrid was found as a stray, a matted mess with numerous medical concerns. She has lost both of her eyes, but is learning to navigate the world like a champ. We can't wait to see Astrid's glow-up and to see her days improve in time. Astrid joined us from the Sacramento County Bradshaw Shelter. They felt that a rescue specializing in seniors would help Astrid find her perfect home.

Story
Looks like: German Shepherd, Husky mix Female, 4 years old (estimated), 50 pounds Are you ready to fall under a fur-tastic spell? Meet Elvira, our ghostly gorgeous Shepherd- Husky lady with a heart as big as a full moon and a howl that'll haunt your heart. Loyal and unflappable Elvira has a playful sparkle in her eye but prefers laid-back broom rides (or car rides, we suppose) to high-speed zoomies. She's the perfect mix of mysterious and mellow, with a soft fluffy coat made for midnight cuddles. She is as gentle as dogs can be. Elvira loves people more than a vampire loves a blackout curtain, and she's been known to cast a charm on everyone she meets. Whether it's spooky season or any season, she's ready to be your loyal familiar, your couch companion, and your moonlit shadow. Elivra does well around other dogs and would do well as either a solo pup or with doggy siblings. We are confident that Elvira will make an excellent addition to any home. Miss Elvira joined us from Hitchcock Road Animal Services. Due to her senior status, they felt she would do best to find her forever family with a senior focused rescue.

Story
Looks like: American Staffordshire Terrier mix Female, 10 years old (estimated), 50 pounds Panda is a lovable senior Staffy with a heart as big as her smile and a true appreciation for the finer things in life, like long naps, soft couches, and belly rubs. Panda is obsessed with fuzzy blankets. Just the sight of a cozy blanket is sure to get her dancing and wiggling all over the place. This gentle girl might be a senior, but she is full of life! Panda loves to run around a yard, smiling with bliss at her favorite people. She is truly the brightest, most lovable dog, and we know she will bring so much joy to your life. She is sweet, affectionate, and oh so easy to love. Panda enjoys regular strolls, tasty treats, and quiet time with her favorite people. She is happiest when she is part of the family and will make sure you never feel lonely. She is always ready to be your loyal shadow (especially if there is a cozy blanket involved). After all she has been through, Panda is more than ready for her forever home, a peaceful place where she can be adored for the gentle, loving soul she is. If your couch is missing a cuddly best friend, Panda is ready to fill that spot and your heart. Panda joined POMDR after the wonderful team at the Hollister Police and Animal Care Services reached out to see if we could help find this sweet senior girl a soft place to land.
