Story
Meet Charming Charlie! Charlie came into the Shelter after his previous home was not the best fit. Charlie found chickens and cats a bit too fun to chase so, a home without them is what we are looking for! Charlie is a big lanky guy who is looking for an active adopter to do things with! His favorite activities are playing with other dogs, hiking and fetching balls. Charlie already knows “sit”, “down” and “come”. Adopters are recommended to continue working with him through positive reinforcement based training. He enjoys riding in the car but does not love being left alone in the car. Charlie is still an adolescent and will need above average mental and physical stimulation. Adopters should puppy proof their home and provide ample appropriate toys and chews so Charlie has options to choose from. Charlie has met dogs at the Shelter and has done well. A home with another dog may be a fit provided they meet at the Shelter prior to adoption. He has lived with children previously and, besides being a bit of a bull-in-china shop when excited, does well. A home with sturdy children may be a fit.

Story
Meet Tina Turner! Tina is the new client services foster at the Shelter! She has been at the Shelter since the end of December ’23 and would love to join her new family soon! She is a soft, goofy gal who LOVES life. She loves playing with her dog friends at the Shelter, going on sniffaris with volunteers and playing with toys. If you are looking for a dog to keep you smiling – Tina Turner is the one. Tina Turner prefers dog friends who will play a good game of chase and even some rough and tumble wrestling with her. A home with another similarly sized (or larger) dog may be a fit provided they meet at the Shelter prior to adopt to ensure that both dogs. Tina Turner is a smart cookie and already knows “sit”, “down” and “paw”. She would love to bond with her new guardians through positive reinforcement based training and continuing learning new things. Tina is treat and toy motivated so training will be a breeze! Tina Turner loves to play in the Shelter’s sandbox so she may make a great beach buddy. If you are looking for a dog that is simply the best, better than all the rest – come meet Tina Turner today!

Story
Meet Colby Jack! True to his name, this guy is mild and goes along with just about everything. Want to go for a walk? Colby Jack will join you. Want to snuggle up and binge watch Love is Blind? Colby Jack is there to listen to all your commentary. Heading to relax on a restaurant patio with friends? Social butterfly Colby Jack is ready to join in on the fun. Colby Jack has been a staff and volunteer favorite since arriving at the Shelter. Colby Jack recently spent two weeks in a foster home so we could learn more about him in a home environment. His foster reports: Colby Jack is an adorable dog. He loves to snuggle, is sweet, fun and super friendly with people and dogs. He is very energetic and enjoys long walks. He enjoys basking in the sun. When inside, he craves attention and, after some time, he calms down and lays on the couch. He was home alone while the foster family did some errands and relaxed on the couch during their 30 minute absence. Colby Jack sleeps through the whole night. He is still perfecting his house training but made great progress in foster. Adopters should plan to work with him through positive reinforcement based training to help him continue to pick up life skills and manners. Colby Jack is REALLY food motivated. Adopters should plan to manage the environment when food is around and/or when they are prepping food as sometimes, the food is a bit too tempting and Colby wants to join in in enjoying it. Adopters with a sense of humor and patience are key to helping Colby Jack to embrace that he can be a sous chef in training and does not need participate in every food planning and consuming activity, but instead will be rewarded for hanging while the humans do so. We do not have any history of Colby Jack with children but he may be a fit provided any adult guardians are overseeing interactions to set everyone up for success. Due to observed prey drive towards small animals (rabbits, mice, etc) and cats – a home without these is required for Colby Jack. The secret ingredient is always cheese. Consider adding Colby Jack to your family today!

Story
Meet the marvelous Martha! Martha came to the Shelter as an owner surrender after her previous guardian was unable to continue caring for her. Martha has been a gentle giant through the transition from her backyard to the Shelter. Martha previously lived with four small dogs and coexisted nicely. Martha is currently hanging out in a foster home. The foster parents report: “It’s going great – Martha’s been super easy to handle. She lives for pets. She’s met kids and other dogs and has been a total sweetheart with everyone. She seems to be slowly getting livelier.”Martha has been low to medium energy. She enjoys sniffaris (slow walks where she can explore the world) and doesn’t necessarily need to run marathons every day with her adopter. Daily walks will be crucial to helping Martha lose weight as she is a bit of a bigger girl than she should be (100lbs!). A home with other dogs may be a fit provided they meet at the Shelter prior to adoption. We do not have any history of Martha with cats. If you’re looking for a gentle giant, come to the Shelter to set up a meet and greet with Martha today!

Story
Daisy came to the shelter after her previous guardian was unable to continue caring for her. She has quickly warmed up to staff and volunteers. Daisy is a smart pup, and responds very well to positive reinforcement training. Like any puppy, she occasionally jumps up when she gets too excited, but will quickly sit if you redirect her to do this. She loves to go out on walks and following your lead. She is still learning that new things and large groups of people are not so scary and needs a patient owner committed to positively exposing her to different experiences at her pace. Her foster mom says she sleeps in her crate all night. Daisy is making great progress with her potty training, but will need someone willing to keep working with her on this. Daisy has done well with other similar size dogs in playgroups at the shelter so a home with another medium to large size dog may be a fit if the resident dog(s) enjoy puppy energy and exuberant play style. Small dogs in the home will not be a fit due to her excitable play style. To best set her up for success, we are looking to pair her with a home with a yard and without children. Are you this precious girl’s forever home? Come to make an appointment to meet her today!

Story
Meet Rocky! Rocky came into the Shelter as an owner surrender after his previous guardian was unable to continue caring for him. Rocky is a big fluffy guy who has been an easy going sweetie since coming to the Shelter. He enjoys a good walk around the block but is equally satisfied with just relaxing with his people. He has enjoyed soaking up attention from staff and volunteers. Rocky has been a great dog to coexist with other dogs. A mellow canine companion may be a good fit for him. Small animals and/or cats are not recommended in Rocky’s next home. Rocky is currently hanging out in a foster home to decompress from the Shelter and allow for staff to learn more about him in a home environment. His foster reports: “Rocky is so well behaved! He’s calm, so loving and affectionate. He is smart and overall just very happy. What an amazing dog. Great with my 8 year old child – so very gentle.” If you are interested in meeting Rocky, come to the Shelter to set up a meet and greet today!
