Story
Meet Ellie, the enchanting black furball with a personality as charming as her appearance. Her little white whiskery beard gives her a distinguished look, and those big, pointy ears add an element of adorable quirkiness. Ellie's button eyes may be small, but they sparkle with intelligence, reflecting her sharp mind and curious thoughts.Despite her cleverness, Ellie is a bit on the shy side, making her all the more endearing. Once you break through her initial reserve, you'll discover a lovey-dovey side to her. She's the ultimate snuggle companion, turning any quiet evening into a cozy affair. Moreover, Ellie has mastered the art of being a great car passenger, making road trips a joy with her calm demeanor and sweet disposition. In her presence, every journey becomes an adventure filled with warmth and companionship. Ellie is not just a bundle of cuteness; she's a well-behaved gem in the household. At 9 years old, she is house-trained to perfection, you can count on her to keep the living space tidy and accident-free. She understands the cues of domesticity with an impressive repertoire of tricks up her furry sleeve. From basic cues to pattern games, Ellie's sharp mind eagerly takes on challenges, making her an engaging companion for those who appreciate intelligence in a four-legged friend. While Ellie may be the ideal partner for adults seeking a loyal and clever companion, she leans towards a serene environment. Her preference for a home without children or other pets reflects her desire for a peaceful haven where she can truly thrive. This discerning choice makes her the perfect match for individuals or couples looking to share their lives with a canine companion who craves a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere. In essence, Ellie is not just a charming canine; she's a well-rounded companion who brings both brains and beauty to the table. Her house-trained habits, knowledge of cues, and aversion to the chaotic energy of children and other pets make her an excellent fit for those who appreciate a tranquil yet intellectually stimulating canine presence in their lives. For more information about our adoptable dogs and/or to submit an adoption inquiry, please visit meridianrescue.org.

Story
Meet Katara, a 3.5-year-old, medium-sized sweetheart who is ready to find her forever family. This special girl is full of love, energy, and personality—she absolutely adores people and has never met a belly rub she didn’t like. She’s also dog-friendly and enjoys having four-legged pals, though she’ll need a cat-free home.Katara is both housetrained and crate-trained, making her a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loyal and affectionate dog. She’s playful, smart, and loves learning new things—especially if meaty treats or even pancakes are involved! Her favorite hobbies include swimming, shredding toys, and being by your side for any adventure.Because Katara has a lot of enthusiasm for life, she may be a little too energetic for small children or seniors, but in the right home she will thrive. She does take medication for anxiety, and what helps her most is having a stable home and a predictable routine. With patience, structure, and love, Katara will blossom into the very best friend you’ve ever had. They say dogs are a man’s best friend, and they must have been talking about Katara—because she’s just waiting to be yours. For more information about our adoptable dogs and/or to submit an adoption inquiry, please visit meridianrescue.org.

Story
Meet Copper! This handsome 2 year old boy has stolen our hearts with his fun-loving spirit and affectionate nature. Spend just a little time with him, and you’ll quickly see why he’s such a favorite around here.Copper came to us from another rescue after having a tough start in life. He was found abandoned and underweight at a local lake, and while his early days weren’t easy, Copper has shown incredible resilience. With time, patience, and training, he’s blossomed into a bright, playful dog who is ready to find his forever person.Copper is full of energy and curiosity—he loves to run, explore, and make every day an adventure. At our farm location, where he’s been working one-on-one with staff, he’s been learning important life skills like how to relax, how to channel his excitement, and how to be the best companion he can be. He’s come such a long way and is now more than ready to keep learning and growing with his new family. We think Copper will thrive in a home with adults (and maybe dog-savvy teens) who can match his zest for life. He’s done well with other medium-to-large dogs, but because of his prey drive, a home without small animals is best. Copper is happiest with a balance of activity and downtime—he’ll gladly join you on a hike, but he’s equally happy entertaining himself with toys in a fenced yard. And here’s a fun fact: Copper is a massage connoisseur. Head and neck rubs? Absolute bliss. Add in his love for toys, his goofy food preferences (fruits are a definite “no, thanks”), and his enthusiasm for people, and you’ve got a dog who’s as lovable as he is unique. At just over 2 years old, Copper has his whole life ahead of him, filled with adventures, cuddles, and the joy of being someone’s best friend. Could that someone be you?For more information about our adoptable dogs and/or to submit an adoption inquiry, please visit meridianrescue.org.

Story
Nina came in with a batch of stray puppies, she is a Corgi mix. We estimate her birthday to be January 2025. She is currently staying with a foster family, so please call the office to make arrangements to meet her. Here is what her foster family says about her: ******** Nina is one of the puppies that was dumped on El Paso back in Nov.  She is doing great in our home and will be the perfect companion for any family!!  She is so gentle when taking treats and loves to snuggle up and get pets. After almost 2 weeks with us she has blossomed so much.  Also, Nina is completely house trained!!  She is still a little cautious getting a leashed up but once it's on, she is the perfect girl during her walks. She also does really well with dogs of similar size and we can tell she will do well with bigger dogs once she gets some time to get to know them.  She doesn't mind cats and has been around chickens and cows.   Nina is a little shy at first meeting, but she will be an amazing addition for any family once she's had a little time to adjust.  ******** All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped and spayed or neutered (if they are old enough) before they leave the shelter. If the dog is not old enough, you will be given a voucher for Animal Medical Center in Emmett to cover the cost of the spay or neuter.
