We believe she is a Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, she embodies the best traits of the breed with her athletic build, intelligence, and loyalty. She thrives on attention and is eager to be the center of your world. Rita had an outing and spent the day at the home of one of our volunteer couples. They said she was wonderful in their home and enjoyed driving around town. As we learn more about her, we have found that she does get along with some dogs. However, she is selective on which dogs she likes. Because of this, she is not one that would do well in a dog park. Health & Care: Rita is in excellent health, up-to-date on her vaccinations, and spayed. She has an energetic nature and benefits from regular exercise and mental stimulation. Rita responds best to a confident handler who can provide consistent training and guidance. What Rita Needs: Rita is looking for a dedicated and loving home where she can receive the attention and care she deserves. She’s a great fit for an active family or individual who can match her energy and provide her with plenty of playtime, training, and affection. She would do best as the only dog in the household. Meet Brooks! He is an 11 pound bundle of kisses, snuggles, tail wags, and joy. He has only been with his foster parents for a few days so they are learning more about him each day. He is a very happy boy! Brooks loves attention, lap time and hanging out on the sofa snoozing. Everyone he meets gets “Brooks Kisses.” He is very attentive to his foster parents and follows them all around the house but he is quite content to snooze on a blanket when he decides they are doing nothing of interest. Brooks walks great on a leash and loves going for walks and car rides! Brooks does great in a crate and sleeps through the night. While only about 9 to 10 months old, he has not shown any interest in toys or zoomies; but he is still very new at his foster home. He is well behaved and doesn’t chew on anything. Brooks is doing great at potty training. He doesn’t yet ask to go out and will need a person who is dedicated to taking him out at regular intervals throughout the day. Brooks will be a great love-bug companion dog ready for travels, adventures, and lots of snuggles. Meet Lena! Lena is a one year old, purebred German Shorthair Pointer. Her owner could no longer care for her and decided it was best if she found a home that could give her the love and attention she deserved. Lena is very friendly and wants to be loved and cuddled. She loves children and people so much. She is also great with dogs. She will chase cats, which is typical for the hunting breeds. Although she was never trained to hunt, she is not gun shy. She locks on point with birds and squirrels. She does pretty well with sit, lay and stay if she is not wound up or has the zoomies. German Shorthair pointers are easily trainable. If you are not familiar with the breed, do your research first. They are in the Sporting Dog category and were bred to hunt. They require a lot of exercise, so if you're in need of a running partner she may be the perfect fit!
