Story
Meet Eggroll — your one-of-a-kind, extra-special girl looking for a forever home Eggroll is a mostly white pit mix with a heart just as big as her adorable name. This petite girl is truly as gentle and loving as they come. She has a calm, affectionate nature that makes everyone who meets her fall instantly in love. Eggroll is deaf, but you’d hardly know it! She is incredibly intuitive and easygoing—you may even catch yourself chatting away to her before remembering she can’t hear you. She connects beautifully through eye contact, body language, and pure love. Her disability doesn’t slow her down one bit—it just makes her even more special. Adding to her charm, Eggroll has stunning mismatched eyes—one warm brown and one striking blue—making her as unique on the outside as she is on the inside. This resilient girl has been through a lot and come out shining. She has recently completed heartworm treatment and had a tumor removed from her shoulder. (The rescue is happy to provide more details.) Now, she’s feeling great and ready to start her next chapter—one filled with comfort, safety, and unconditional love. Eggroll is the kind of dog who will soak up every ounce of affection you give and return it tenfold. She’s ready to be someone’s loyal companion, couch buddy, and best friend. If you’re looking for a sweet, easy, and truly special dog to welcome into your life, Eggroll might just be your perfect match ##2619843##

Story
Hi, new friends!! I'm Minnie! I'm a sweet southern gal getting ready for my first MI summer. Wouldn't you like me to be your hiking buddy? Lakeside doggo? I'm so ready for all the adventures with my new family. Whatever you're doing, I'm interested! Especially if it's outside! Rumor has it that I'm the quietest husky mu foster family has met. They tell me most huskies "talk"? I love doing zoomies in their fenced backyard, walks, and they say that I "hoard" the toys into my kennel or my spot on the couch. I've been working on joining my foster family's dogs, I should be fine with other respectful dogs with slow and supervised introduction. I know how to walk on a leash, on group walks I prefer to be the lead dog, but on one on one walks they say I don't pull and am easily redirected if I see something interesting (like a squirrel.) I'm working on kennel time, and have sometimes go to my kennel on my own when I want to relax. I haven't touched anything that I shouldn't (like shoes, books, etc) so I might not need a kennel in your home. At night I either sleep in my kennel at the foot of the bed or some nights in the bed, though I like my personal space. I've met some kids and they seem cool, I don't live with any right now so might need time to adjust if you're adding me to a family with human kiddos. I sometimes get excited to see my people and come up to say hello asap, so bigger kids might be better.  As a husky, I'm fairly interested in small animals, hard to say with 100% certainty if we could coexist because I don't live with any now. I'm hard at work in the backyard trying to clear it of moles, but I haven't done more than scare them so far.  Anyway, that's a bit about me! I'm excited to meet you because I LOVE people!! Complete an adoption application today:  https://www.happyfeetpetrescue.com/adopt A note from Minnie's foster family: if you have any specific questions about her, please connect with Happy Feet and we'd love to answer them! We love this sweet girl, she's affectionate and playful and we have been honored to help her get ready to meet her forever family. ##2619827##

Story
Meet Rocky, the goodest good boy! Rocky takes a pill a few times a day for diabetes insipidus, and since starting his medication, he’s feeling so much better! This playful young guy sometimes gets so excited about his favorite toys he forgets to think, but a quick snack brings his focus right back. Rocky is okay with cats, though his energy might be a bit much for feline friends who prefer a quieter life. Because of his playful nature, he’d be best with older kids. Most of all, Rocky loves to snuggle. Whether it’s on the couch or curled up at your feet, he’s happiest close to his people. ##2197265##

Story
If you're looking for love, Romeo is your guy! He is about 7 months old and full of puppy love and goofiness. He was extremely timid when he arrived in rescue and has blossomed so much, going from not wanting to be touched to being quite the little cuddler. He still can be on the timid side, however, and needs patience, encouragement, and time to adjust to new things. He does seem to gain confidence from other dogs, so a dog sibling who can put up with his puppy ways would be great. His favorite activities are playing, chewing, and eating, although he has recently discovered digging, which may become his new passion. He loves to snack on baby carrots and apples.  Romeo is an unknown mixed breed (mother weighs about 20 lbs). He will likely be medium sized and currently weighs about 17 lbs. He is working on potty training. He does great in a crate and sleeps all night. Romeo has only met small children a couple of times and found them quite terrifying. While he would likely adjust to any children in the home with time, we feel older children who can understand his needs might be a better fit. If you think Romeo might be your perfect match, apply today! ##2620525##

Story
Meet Apple Jacks!  This handsome man has a pretty harrowing background and because of that he believes people are pretty scary. Apple Jacks, or just Jacks for short, will need a special home. Lets get the requirements out of the way before we talk about how great this fella is!   1. His future forever home should have at least one other playful dog. Dogs give Jacks a lot of cofidence and are critical to his happiness.  2. A securely fenced in yard - because he was severly undersocialied, Jacks has no experience on leash and reacts poorly at this stage in his training. He gets very scared, flails, rolls, and tries to bite the leash off of him. While this behavior will improve with time, it's critical for his well being that he have a safe space that he can explore and use the bathroom while he's learning that the leash isn't scary.  3. A home with no young children - Jacks is easily startled and would not feel safe in a home that was excessively noisy or had little hands still learning to understand doggie boundaries. While he has never displayed any reactivity, he is jumpy and will attempt to flee (sometimes knocking down anything in his path) if he gets too startled.  4. Some fur pawrents to give him a whole ton of love and patience. Jacks is a beautiful dog, but he isn't a dog that is going to settle into your home the first day, the first week, or even the first month. His future home will need to be prepared to give him several months to fully decompress, learn routines, and feel safe receiving everyone's love.  Now that we've got the hard stuff out of the way, let me tell you all the wonderful things about Jacks! In time we have had the privlege of fostering him he has very quickly learned several important skills. Firstly, he leared where his crate is, that it's where hot dogs happen, dinner happens, bed time happens, and that he can use it as his safe space. He will now run right to his crate when you tell him crate. He has also picked up potty training rapidly and very rarely has an accident. He very much looks to the other dogs in his foster homes for social cues and learns rapidly from them.  In his current foster home there are two adults (1 M, 1 F) and 5 other dogs. He has warmed up more rapidly to the male in the home and within the very first day here his foster dad was able to pet him. Foster mom quickly followed and now he will comfortably approach for pets or ear scratches. He hasn't progressed to cuddling yet, but we think he's close! He does rest comfortable in the same room with both adult humans with no obvious discomfort and will sit comfortably between the humans while they enjoy evening TV.  Jacks is CRAZY for hot dogs. His foster family will cut hot dogs into small pieces and use them for high value training and Jacks thinks this might be the best thing he's ever experieced - the only thing better is rotiserre chicken! He takes treats patiently in the dog pack, doesn't push or shove, and takes them directly from human hands without incident.  If you think you might be the right person to give Jacks a new beginning, please visit our website for an adoption application: www.happyfeetpetrescue.com.  ##2706977##

Story
Corn Flakes is a cutie pie that came to our rescue from a hoarding situation. He is about 24 lbs and while we do not know his exact breed, we suspect Dachshund is included somewhere in his mix. He is estimated at 2-3 years old and loves other dogs. He can be shy to start with new humans, but he quickly bonded to his foster mom and follows her everywhere now. He really loves other dogs and while a dog wouldn't be required in his future home, it would help him bond faster to his future family.  Corn Flakes came from some pretty deporable conditions and is still learning that bathroom time happens outside. He has made a lot of progress, but still needs lots of reminders & reinforcement. He has also likely never been crated and is still learing to love his kennel. He does sleep through the night after some initial passionate pleas for freedom, but we believe with time he will continue to improve.  Corn Flakes can be spooked by people grabbing him too quickly so we would recommend kiddos 10+ for him. ##2720311##
