You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please Note: This animal is listed as a courtesy to another organization or individual. Please be sure to contact the foster/caretaker for more information about him/her. '“Meet Glenda Mae! She is heartworm negative and around 45 lbs fully grown. Glenda was on the 'At Risk' list at her local shelter due to stress, but is doing great in her foster home!Glenda Mae always has a smile on her face and is a playful puppy at heart! She adores toys and loves to play tug-of-war and fetch! Her zoomies are the cutest thing you’ll ever see . She is medium-high energy, but she's been very content to spend most of the morning and afternoon napping while I work. She sleeps great in her kennel through the night and while I'm gone for the day without any fuss! She now walks great in her harness and hasn't had an accident in the house or her kennel since the first week I started fostering her. When we take her to our usual walking path, she isn’t reactive to dogs or people (though she likes to stare at them walking by ).She is wary of strangers and takes time to learn to trust them, but once she learns that you're her person she'll absolutely love you wholeheartedly. She'll become a total cuddle bug!Due to her wariness of strangers, she would do best in an adult-only home or a home with older children who can patiently work with her to build a trusting bond .Glenda is vaccinated, spayed, and ready to find her forever home! We would love to find an adopter or foster home ASAP due to the upcoming change in work schedule during the holidays. Please reach out to a.k.candia98@gmail.com for any questions about this girl.''Rehoming fee appliesVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 6:43 pm

Story
My name is Peanut and I'm the sweetest, most affectionate lil' gal this side of the Mississippi! I love, love, LOVE snuggling and giving kisses. I'm an approximately 5 year-old female, predominantly rat terrier but my foster parents think I'm mixed with beagle. I'm currently overweight at 16 lbs. (ideal ~12 lbs.) but working on my summer bod via controlled portions and going on walks. Speaking of walks, I'm an absolute gem on a leash; I don't tug or pull nor am I reactive to other people, dogs, or distractions! Maybe it's these short little legs, but I walk at a very leisurely pace and I'm in no rush to get anywhere. Laid-back couch potato at heart, but I enjoy casual walks around the block and ride well in the car. I would prefer someone who can match my energy with a laidback lifestyle and let me nap next to them during the day and sleep next to them at night. My house-training is stellar; I use a doggy door to go outside when I need to and then come right back in; I'm very efficient! I'm also very trustworthy – my foster parents have never crated me! However, I have no issues with laying on a comfy dog bed in a crate and can often be found snoozing or chilling in there. I'm not a big fan of stairs but will navigate them if they are carpeted or have tread covers. I'm food-motivated and quick to learn! I enjoy playing with and squeaking my toys and occasionally chewing on rubber Nylabones. I do fine with other respectful dogs big or small, but prefer to avoid rambunctious pups. At this point, you must be wondering how a great, mellow dog like me could end up without a home? Sadly, I wound up in a shelter after my elderly owner passed away – but was thankfully pulled for rescue. Despite my loss, I remain sweet and gentle and would make a wonderful companion in a calm, steady home. Story
Meet Chance! He is a 6-year-old handsome large-sized boy, weighing around 70 pounds, who’s ready to find a loving home to call his own. He originally came to us from a shelter in Florida, and he’s been patiently waiting since 1/22/2026 for his chance to find his perfect match.Chance is truly a staff favorite, and it’s easy to see why. He is a social, playful, and affectionate boy who loves spending time with people and soaking up attention. Once he’s had the opportunity to get some enrichment and activity, he settles into a wonderfully calm and cuddly companion who just wants to be close to his humans. He could do well in a home with children of all ages and would likely enjoy being part of a family setting where he gets plenty of love and interaction. Chance does have preferences when it comes to other dogs, so we require a dog meet and greet here at the shelter prior to adoption to ensure a good match for everyone involved.Chance is the biggest lovebug just waiting for his person to come for him. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. If you’re interested in meeting Chance or learning more, please reach out to an adoption counselor by phone at (517) 626-6060 or email at adoptions@adoptlansing.org.

Story
Meet Betty! She is a 2-year-old beautiful large female dog who is ready to find a loving home to call her own. Betty came to us after she was left with someone who was unable to care for her, and she has been patiently waiting since February 14, 2026 for her second chance.Betty is a social, active lady who enjoys being engaged with her people. As a strong, large dog, she will do best in a home that is prepared for continued training, structure, and positive guidance as she continues to learn and grow. She would thrive in an active household that can keep up with her energy and help her become her best self.Betty may do best in a home with older children, if there are any, and we ask that all kids and family members meet her prior to adoption to ensure a good fit. She would do best as the only dog in the home so she can fully enjoy all the attention and guidance from her adopters.Betty is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. If you’re interested in meeting Betty or learning more, please reach out to an adoption counselor by phone at (517) 626-6060 or email at adoptions@adoptlansing.org.

Story
Meet Gretel! She is an 8-month-old beautiful medium-sized girl, weighing around 30 pounds and still growing, who’s ready to find a loving home to call her own. She originally came to us from a shelter in Tennessee, and she’s been patiently waiting since 5/1 for her chance at a fresh start.Gretel is a very sweet girl with a gentle nature. She has been understandably overwhelmed in the shelter environment and may take some time to adjust and feel comfortable in new situations. She would benefit from a patient and understanding adopter who can help her build confidence at her own pace. Once she settles in, her loving personality is sure to shine. We ask that all family members meet her prior to adoption to ensure a good fit. Gretel has done well meeting other dogs here at the shelter, though she may need a little time to warm up. Continued positive socialization and training classes could be a great way to help her grow into a more confident companion.Gretel is a wonderful young pup who is ready to share her love with the right family. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. If you’re interested in meeting Gretel or learning more, please reach out to an adoption counselor by phone at (517) 626-6060 or email at adoptions@adoptlansing.org.
