You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi … my name is Telly! Please take a minute to read my entire bio to find out everything you need to know about me.   If you think I might be the perfect pup for you, go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete the adoption application online. Have you ever seen a puppy so cute that you just had to have him?  Until you lived with him a bit and realized that puppies are more work than you can handle?  Well … that is the story of how Telly ended up at AAMR.  And we have to admit – he IS a cutie.  And he is a sweet boy.  And he does have a lot of energy.  And he really loves attention.  And he is sure he is the best watch dog/alarm ever. The only real issue we have seen with Telly is that he does guard his food from other dogs, so if you have other pets, you’ll need to feed them in separate places.  Telly will eat in his crate.  He did live with two other small dogs and that was the only behavior shared by his previous owner. We know that Telly is not pure Pekingese, and we are not sure what he is mixed with, but whatever it is, it’s cute and happy! Approximate age/birthdate:  Jan 15 2023 Weight/size:  20 lbs  Housebroken:  YES (as long as you do your part and get him outside often) Crate trained:  YES (though he will protest at first … treats help!)           Personality:  curious, energetic, happy, vigilant (and vocal when he is on watchdog duty) Energy level:  medium with bursts of puppy energy high Fenced yard required?:   YES – definitely preferred so he can get outside and run off some energy in a safe area Does he/she jump fences?  NO Leash walk with manners:  Working on it.  More practice will help him improve.  Seems he has never done a lot of walking on lead Obedience training:  No, but he seems to learn quickly.  He would probably be a combination of ‘star’ and ‘class clown’ in an obedience class, but that would be great for structure and socialization. Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK    Spayed/neutered:   YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES Microchipped:   YES Social with other dogs:  YES  … at least the ones he has lived with.  We are watching him closely as he meets new dogs Social with cats:  Has not had close encounters with cats in foster care, but we’re pretty sure he would love to chase them if they ran from him. Good with children:  Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up.  We don’t know what he is mixed with, but pekes are not noted for being tolerant of young children and their noise and activity levels. Adoption donation: $250 We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible. When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Telly picks you too. If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi … my name is Gizmo and here are some things you need to know about me!  After you read through my bio, if you think I might be the perfect pup for you, please go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete your adoption application online.  If you can't adopt me, but would like to help, please consider making a donation to AAMR in my name to help with my extended needs in foster care.Gizmo is special.  He needs special care, lots of patience and lots of love.  Special pups need special heroes. Mr. Gizmo is a big personality in a little body!  He was surrendered by an owner to a public shelter. They had him for several years after they found him inside a dumpster … so we know his life has been a mix of really good and awful.  He is happy to be out of the shelter and into foster care because he really does want to be near people. A typical Chihuahua, Gizmo has some ‘small dog syndrome’ issues … because he has been allowed to behave badly.  He is a typical chihuahua barker and will not be the best apartment/condo/townhome resident. He wants to be with and near people, but only on his terms.  He protests loudly when you try to pick him up.  He will growl and sound very vicious and, yes, he will bite. He is also on an anti-anxiety medication which has seemed to help a little.  If you talk sternly to him, he will show his teeth and growl.  We see a pup who has been allowed to ‘bully’ his people, and it is going to take to take a strong, determined, consistent new adopter to help break these bad habits.  He is a toy hoarder and will guard his food so he will not be the best companion for another dog that likes to play with toys.  And, it is quite a challenge to get a harness on him to go for a walk, so having a fenced yard is a 'must' for him.  (Small dogs should never be walked with just a collar and leash due to potential damage to the trachea.)  This boy sure needs a wonderful family to love him and help him become a happier boy.  Are you willing to be the hero who gives him a chance? Approximate age/birthdate:  born ~2014 Weight/size: 9 lbs Housebroken:  YES (as long as you can get him outside often) Crate trained:  YES (he is not a fan of being crated, but once he is in, he is fine) Personality: cautious, curious, big personality but wants to be boss, vocal (a great alarm system) Energy level:  medium to low ... he is busy trying to watch everything in every room, but he isn't rowdy Fenced yard required?:   YES definitely.  If he gets outside a fenced area off-leash, he will be a flight risk.  He should never be off-leash outside unless he is inside a securely fenced area.  Getting a harness on him to go for a walk can be tricky (he does like to bite), but small dogs should never be walked with just a collar and leash due to potential trachea damage. Does he/she jump fences?  NO Leash walk with manners:  YES Obedience training:  Knows ‘sit’ Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK      Spayed/neutered:   YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES Microchipped:   YES Social with other dogs:  YES Social with cats: Cats get his attention and he would love to chase them. Good with children:  NO CHILDREN. Adoption donation:  $175 We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi … my name is Jiggy (or Jigs)! Read my bio to find out everything you need to know about me.   If you think I might be the perfect pup for you, go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete the adoption application online. Jiggy is a curious little man … a beagle mix for sure, and the mix may include some Jack Russell Terrier.  He is a sweet fella and he can go from curled up under a blanket to searching the yard for invaders in a snap!  He is pretty easy-going unless he thinks there is something around that shouldn’t be there … like a squirrel or a deer or a cat, etc.  He also seems to be a little scared of the dark. When he gets excited and barking, his front legs bounce up and down off the floor.  Sometimes you look in his crate and wonder where he is, and then you see his blanket wiggle just a little. Jiggy has lived with his person until recently when his person’s life changed completely, and he knew it was time to rehome his furry friend.  Jigs has handled moving into foster care very well considering his whole world has turned upside down.  Jigs would do well with a family who has time to spend with him and who will treat him like a family member.  A fenced yard will be great for him so he can get out, off-leash, and explore and get exercise.  He does have some arthritis in his hips and the vet thinks it is probably a congenital issue.  He may need some pain meds from time-to-time, but walking regularly (in moderation) will be good for him.  He has not been around children, but we think he would be OK with respectful children at least 10 years old and older.  With his arthritis, children running at him and trying to roughhouse would be painful and could lead to some nipping … as it would with most dogs. Approximate age/birthdate:  Born Feb 2, 2015 Weight/size:  32 lbs (and it will be better if he can lose a little bit of this) Housebroken:  YES Crate trained:  YES Personality:  happy, friendly, excitable and can be very vocal.  He will not be a great apartment/condo/townhouse dweller. Energy level:  medium (with an occasional burst of high) Fenced yard required?:   Definitely preferred.  He should never be outside, off-leash in an unfenced area.  His beagle nose and his terrier curiosity will take him places he should not go!  And he is fast, arthritis and all! Does he/she jump fences?  NO Leash walk with manners:  YES … when he gets excited or distracted he will try to pull wherever he wants to go! Obedience training:  NO but going to an obedience class would be a great bonding experience and great socialization for Jigs. Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK      Spayed/neutered:   YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES Microchipped:   YES Social with other dogs:  YES.  He does not seem to have had a lot of socialization with other dogs and his interaction with some of them is still a little rough, though we have seen no aggression. Social with cats:  He will bark at cats and chase them if they run, so life will probably be more peaceful with no cats around. Good with children:  Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi … my name is Grizzly!  Please take a minute and read my entire bio to find out everything you need to know about me.   If you think I might be the perfect pup for you, go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete the adoption application online. Grizzly is a BIG boy with a BIG personality and he needs the most special family ever! Grizzly is a super-sized, strong boy … and sometimes he is sure he is a lap dog.  The original owner thought he is a shar-pei, and we are sure he IS part shar-pei (which is a wonderful thing), but there is definitely something larger in his breed mix.  Possibly Great Dane, possibly mastiff. Without a Doggy DNA test we’ll never know, but he is 75 pounds, has long legs, and is well-muscled.  He can be the sweetest boy ever (he gives sweet kisses) and can also be a stubborn pain in your backside! He responds well to positive reinforcement. He gets very agitated over small dogs and cats and is very curious about chickens. Grizzly’s ideal owner will have experience with large, energetic dogs and will be physically and mentally strong enough to insure that Grizzly understands that Dad/Mom is always, without question, the pack leader.  Consistent positive enforcement of rules and boundaries will be essential for Grizzly to become the best boy he can be.  He is a work in progress. Grizzly came to us malnourished, with a severe case of demodectic mange due to a poor immune system, many allergies, skin infections, and entropion in both eyes.  After many rounds of medications, lots of medicated baths, various prescription foods and supplements, and surgery on both eyes, Grizzly has finally settled in to a healthy life.  Now he just needs to find the perfect family who will help him stay on the right path, and who will love him forever. Approximate age/birthdate:  July 15 2019 Weight/size: 75 lbs Housebroken:  YES as long as you do your part and take him out often Crate trained:  YES Personality:  people-oriented, dog-selective, protective of people he loves, stubborn Energy level:  high energy and needs to run but settles nicely inside, exuberant and loves life Fenced yard required?:   YES – NO EXCEPTIONS - he needs plenty of exercise daily, he has high prey drive, and he is protective of his people and territory Does he/she jump fences?  NO (but he absolutely could) Leash walk with manners:  YES Obedience training:  Knows ‘sit’ Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK      Spayed/neutered:   YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES Microchipped:   YES Social with other dogs:  Dog-selective and his play style is still a bit rough, so his 75 pounds make an impact Social with cats: NO CATS Good with children:  Grizzly might love children, but he may not be the right fit for all children due to his energy, size and strength.  Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up. Adoption donation:  $225 We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi … my name is Lacey! Please take a minute to read my entire bio to find out everything you need to know about me.   If you think I might be the perfect pup for you, go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete the adoption application online. Sweet Lacey … the beautiful little lady who had some rough times in her young life, all the while showing nothing but sweetness and love to people helping her get healthy again.  In January 2022 Lacey was a young mom with 3 young puppies, and she weighed barely 25 pounds. Fast forward to March 2022 and after lots of TLC and lots of extra meals, she had blossomed into a 43 pound beauty, still giving kisses to everyone she sees! It has been such a joy watching this sweet girl get stronger by the day.  She is such a gem, and she is going to be an amazing addition to some very lucky family.  If you love boxers and their silliness, she just might be the girl for you.  She is a happy goofball who really does spread sunshine wherever she goes! Things Lacey would love to have in her new forever home:     People who would love her unconditionally and who would let her be a lap dog.     A physically fenced yard where she could run and explore.  She is quite an athlete and needs plenty of exercise to keep her happy and healthy.     A person who would take her to basic obedience class so she could show how smart she is and so she could have a great socialization experience.  Going to class together is a great bonding time for a pup and her person. Approximate age/birthdate:  ~Feb 18, 2021 Weight/size:  43 lbs Housebroken:  YES as long as you do your part and take her out often and on a regular schedule. Crate trained:  YES Personality: sweet, loving, silly, playful, happy                 Energy level:  medium with spurts of high … she is pretty calm inside but she can run like the wind and jump like she has springs on her feet Fenced yard required?:   Definitely preferred.  She will love leash walks with her person, but she will also enjoy the freedom to run around off-leash inside a fenced yard. Does he/she jump fences?  She has not … but she probably could.  It would not be wise to leave her outside in a fenced yard alone because if she got bored, she might start looking for a way to get out and find new friends. Leash walk with manners:  YES she actually walks nicely unless she sees something she wants to chase or get to Obedience training:  Knows ‘sit’.  She would be a star in an obedience class.  She learns quickly. Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK      Spayed/neutered:   YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES Microchipped:   YES Social with other dogs:  YES, but she will react if another dog gets in her face or gets ‘snarky’ with her - especially small, yappy dogs.  As she becomes a 'teenager' she is getting a little testy with smaller animals.  She would like being an only dog. Social with cats: Has not been around cats in foster home, but we feel sure she would be happy to chase any cat that ran.  Not sure if she would intend to hurt them, but a home with no cats would be better. Good with children:  Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up.  Her size and energy might be overwhelming for younger/smaller children.
