Story
I got Beau 6 years ago from a breeder in High Point at birth. He is 6 years old and full of life. We live in a neighborhood with a small backyard where he stays at. He is an extremely playful and loving dog. He just wants to lick and love on everybody. We recently have a new baby and between the baby and work I am not able to spend much time with him, and my wife is not a huge dog person. I want him to have someone who can love on him more and play with him. He is full of energy and loves to run. He is registered, and has an incredible pedigree with numerous field trial dogs is his lineage. He's been around kids a couple times and seemed to be great with them. I feel like there is a home out there where he can get more love and attention.

Story
I adopted Prince from a kill shelter a week before his last day. He had been in the shelter for over 2 years. I was told he was over 10 years old and was pretty okay with cats, which is not the case. He should not be around cats at all and my neighborhood is full of feral cats. Unfortunately he's pulled me down a couple of times and has hurt me trying to get them. He is a pure love bug and I am heartbroken that my home is not the best fit for him or me. I'm a senior myself and can't afford for him to hurt me again. I cannot return him to the shelter, he was there way too long and they would euthanized him.

Story
Jake is a handsome, 17lb, 4 yr old Schipperke (possibly mix). If you know Schipperkes, Jake will feel very familiar to you. This little guy is smart and inquisitive; at the same time, he wants to please. Jake is content to hang out with you, beside you and/or on your lap.  Jake is an excellent walking partner who can walk up to five or six miles daily. He LOVES his routine of daily morning walks, regardless of the weather. Jake enjoys trail adventures as much as walks in the park and on the greenway, so he would also make a good companion for a runner and/or hiker. Jake is a true Schipperke who is busy and seldom walks when he can trot or scamper. Jake could be an only dog or share his home with another dog his size.  He has some tendencies toward guarding his toys and food around other dogs in the home, so this would require some monitoring/management.  The adoption range for this dog is limited to NC, SC, VA  or East TN. If you are interested in adopting this dog, contact h2hadoptions@gmail.com. We require an all-adult home (no young children) with a securely fenced yard attached to the home, 5 ft or higher with NO gaps larger than 2.5 inches.  An invisible fence, enclosed patio or terrace, temporary fencing or community shared fencing are NOT considered secure fencing. No exceptions. There is an application process and adoption fee. We are an all-volunteer organization, and in addition to saving dogs, we have other responsibilities, so we appreciate your patience and understanding during this process. Response time can take up to 5 business. Please inquire only if you are willing to come to Greensboro, North Carolina to meet the dog after we schedule your home visit. We do not ship dogs or put them on transports. Veterinary Care: All Hart-2-Heart Rescue foster dogs are spayed/neutered, current on heartworm prevention, parvo/distemper, bordetella, and rabies vaccines and are professionally groomed. As needed, our foster dogs have teeth cleanings, extractions, bloodwork and other diagnostic testing. Adoption Fee: $400April 23, 2024, 10:28 pm

Story
Rocky is a handsome, 7 yr old, 14 lb. Pekingese.  Rocky is an attentive, happy, and playful Pekingese who just happens to be mostly blind. He can see some shadows and movement but must be leashed-walked so he doesn’t bump into anything.  Rocky is very happy and learns to navigate his surroundings quickly.  This little guy’s favorite activities are breakfast, dinner, walking 2-4 times/day, playing with toys, and of course TREATS! He has an uncanny sense of finding the toy baskets in the house.  He absolutely LOVES to ride in the car (seat-belted in of course). Rocky’s ideal home is quiet, with an experienced Peke owner, and an only dog. His owner will be a special person who understands his disability and Peke disposition and is willing to work with him.  Like most Pekes, he takes a while to warm up to new people but once you earn his trust, you are his person!  He must be monitored every 6 months to ensure he hasn’t developed glaucoma. Rocky is on inexpensive anti-inflammatory drops (Neo-Poly-Dex) for his right eye.  Rocky is a good patient at the vet. The adoption range for this dog is limited to NC, SC, VA and East TN. If you are interested in adopting this dog, contact h2hadoptions@gmail.com. There is an application process and adoption fee. WE REQUIRE AN ALL-ADULT HOME (NO CHILDREN OR GRANDCHILDREN UNDER 18YO). Story
Teddy is an adorable 3 yr old, 13 lb Shih Tzu.    He is an active and athletic Shih Tzu. Teddy will make a great companion for a devoted walker, as weather doesn’t affect his love of a daily brisk walk.   He needs a home where someone is frequently around, as Teddy prefers to be with his person and will happily keep you company wherever you go.   With just a little patience as he adjusts to his new home, this little guy will warm right up. He’s a young, small dog who is quick and will dart for an open door, so his adoptive home needs to be prepared to manage him around outside doorways. Teddy needs to be only dog, since he likes all the attention and all the treats! The adoption range for this dog is limited to NC, SC and VA. If you are interested in adopting this dog, contact h2hadoptions@gmail.com. Story
Winston is a handsome, 2 yr old Havanese, mixed possibly with ShihTzu, who weighs 17 lbs.   He has a very big, lovable personality.  Winston is smart and pays attention to everything going on in the household. He is outgoing and friendly. Winston is playful, active and athletic and is doing very well on housetraining and leash walking.  Although Winston is active, he is snuggly and likes being held like a baby.  He is high energy and needs a home where he can get plenty of exercise and playtime.  His new family should be one who enjoys and takes daily vigorous walks and provides a lot of engaging stimulation. Winston would do best being an only dog. He doesn't seem to be able to read other dogs' cues.  Winston wants to be wherever his foster family is and tends to park himself under foot, so he can be a trip hazard.   Winston arrived at a rural shelter as a stray so matted that we chose to sedate him to groom him for his comfort.  His coat has now grown back beautifully and is low maintenance and low shed. Winston was very cooperative during his last grooming. WE REQUIRE AN ALL-ADULT HOME (NO YOUNG CHILDREN) WITH A SECURELY FENCED YARD FOR WINSTON'S ADOPTIVE HOME.  The secure fence must be 4ft (preferably 5 feet because he is a jumper) or higher, with gaps no greater than 2 1/2 inches and attached to the home. This is a requirement to adopt from Hart-2-Heart Rescue.  An invisible fence, enclosed patio, terrace or deck, temporary fencing, dog pens or dog lots or community shared fencing (dog park) are NOT considered secure fencing. If your fencing has "puppy pickets" (or is supplemented with garden fencing) it needs to be at least 40 inches high from the ground up AT THE LOWEST POINT.  No exceptions.
