Story
Bentley Chiweenie 2 years old 9.5 pounds Short version: Sweet, gets along with dogs, needs a playful dog, cat friendly, good with kids over age 5, working on housetraining, sweet, timid with new people. Bentely wins the award of the week for the best ears! But that’s not even his best trait – once this tiny dude trusts you, he loves to snuggle and show his affection. This tiny dude has been bounced around to several homes in his short life. When he came to us, he was very shy and timid. But over the past few weeks, we’ve got the wonderful experience of seeing his personality bloom as he has gained confidence. Now he’s started to play as much as possible. He LOVES to play with his dachshund foster brother and we are looking for a home with another small playful dog. And he’s all in with playing tug of war with other dogs with a rope toy. He does great with the big dogs in the home – even using them as a pillow during nap time. Looking for dog to play fetch with? Bentley is your guy – he loves to fetch and even sometimes brings it back. Got cats? No worries – Bentely lived with cats in one of his homes and did great. And when it’s outside time, you will find him rolling on his back in the grass – just as happy as a clam. But when playtime is over, Bentely wants to snuggle and show affection. TV time in the evening is his favorite time of day – he will be right by you on the couch. And He loves to sleep in the big bed by his foster parent's heads and cuddling on the couch. He is still on the timid side, especially with new people, but warms up after a bit. His new family should expect a bit of a transition where he is timid and nervous as he settles and learns that you are his forever people. He's working on housetraining and made improvements while in foster care, but his new family should expect accidents as they get him over the home stretch. Bentley is a healthily guy. He’s UTD on shots, heartworm negative and microchipped. He was neutered and had a dental cleaning while in rescue. His new family will need to drive to Raleigh to adopt – no transports. We prefer to adopt to families in NC, VA, SC, eastern TN, WV, DC area and northern GA. Story
Hobbes1 year oldFostered in Raleigh/Durham13 poundsShort version: Energetic, needs active family or playful dog, housetrained, leash trained, crate trained, super friendlyHobbs is everything you could ever want (and m energetic, friendly, sweet and gets along with everyone - the perfect young dog! This little dude - we have no idea of his mix - we've been saying dachshund and Tiger. And yes, we named him because of the cartoon. He landed as a stray in one of our shelters, so his background is as much of a mystery as his breed mix.Want an active dog to go on adventures? Hikes, breweries, festivals, then he is your boy? He was at a six-hour event and met hundreds of people this weekend and was the perfect ambassador. Everyone fell in love with him and we got SO MANY “OMG he’s adorable comments.” And he’s great in the car, so he will be the perfect copilot on the way.Hobbes has a lot of energy (and we mean A LOT) so needs either an active family or a family with a playful dog. Because he is still in the puppy chewing phase, he needs to be contained or crated when left alone. He's housetrained, but his new family should expect accidents during the transition. He loves kids! Because of his energy level and jumping up, we are looking for a family without kids under fine. But he shows no aggression and would be fine with visiting young grandkids or friends. He gets along with other dogs and we can cat test if needed. He's neutered, UTD On shots, hw negative, neutered, and had a cherry eye repair. His new family will need to travel to the Raleigh area to adopt, no transports. We prefer to adopt to families in NC, VA, SC, northern GA, WV, DC area and eastern TN. To get the process started, fill out an application at www.doxiebyproxy.org/applicationSimply put, Hobbes is a FABULOUS boy. We are all head over heels in love with this adorable ball of energy and we know that you will feel the exact same way when you meet him.  ##2338633##

Story
Meet Bobble! It is hard to say that we have ever seen such a ridiculously breed mix before we met Bobble! Bobble is a muscular, low-riding terrier mix (possibly with dachshund, corgi, or Basset hound) with a big head and an even bigger personality! Estimated to be around 4 years old and weighing 37 pounds, Bobble is full of energy and loves the outdoors—whether he’s playing ball, sunbathing, or exploring the yard. Bobble plays hard but settles well when asked. He takes treats and toys gently but prefers not to give them up. He is crate trained, enjoys eating his meals in his crate, and appears to be potty trained when kept on a regular schedule. Bobble is working on his leash skills and learning not to pull or jump. He can seem growly or excitable in new situations, but once he knows everything is okay, he settles quickly. Because of this, he would do best with a strong, confident adopter who can provide structure and leadership. Bobble is skeptical of new people and will give a quick low growl to let them know they are being put on notice. But given one throw of a toy or treat, Bobble's love can completely be bought and the next thing you know, he is slathering you with love! Ideal Home:     •    A fenced yard where he can play and explore     •    A larger, easygoing dog sibling or an adopter willing to give him all the attention as the only dog     •    No children under 10, as he may be too energetic for young kids     •    A committed owner who will continue his training and exercise routine Bobble has not been tested with cats and it would be best for him to go to a home with dogs only over 25 lbs as he tends to play hard and needs a doggie playmate that can match his energy and size. If you’re looking for an active, fun-loving dog with a big personality, Bobble might be your perfect match! Bobble already has a budding social media star just looking for his social media manager to make that happen for him!  Interested in adopting Bobble?
