Story
Meet Cook Out — your adventure-loving sidekick! Cook Out is a 3-year-old Dachshund/Beagle mix with a big personality packed into a perfect 20-pound frame. He was found hanging out in a Quality Inn parking lot (clearly waiting for his forever family) and is now ready to trade motel life for a cozy home of his own. This little guy loves to play and would thrive in a dog-savvy home with another higher-energy dog who’s ready to be his built-in best friend. Cook Out is smart, enthusiastic, and always up for fun—whether that’s a game of chase, a car ride, or heading out on a new adventure. He’d make an awesome hiking partner and will happily hop in the car to go wherever the day takes you. Cook Out does have a few quirks that make him extra special. He has some resource guarding tendencies (he likes the guard the lap of the individual he is snuggling at the time), so he’s looking for a home experienced with mild behavior challenges. The good news? He comes with free training in the Greensboro area to help set everyone up for success—Cook Out included! In the home, Cook Out is a rockstar: Crate trained Leash trained Great with cats Super friendly and polite when out and about If you’re looking for a wicked smart, playful, and loyal companion—and you enjoy working with a dog who will keep you on your toes—Cook Out might just be your perfect match. Ready to bring home a pup with personality, brains, and a love for adventure? Cook Out is waiting to meet you!  ##2547111##

Good with dogs, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Jake is a handsome 4 yr old Schipperke (possibly mix). He is an excellent walking partner who can walk up to five miles daily.  He would also be a good companion for a hiker.  Jake enjoys trail adventures as much as walks in the park and on the greenway. Jake is a true Schipperke who is busy and seldom walks when he can trot or scamper. If you know Schipperkes, Jake will feel very familiar to you. Jake is smart and inquisitive but also wants to please. Jake is content to hang out with you, beside you, and/or on your lap.  Jake is not a barker (unless there is a reason to bark, like a stranger in the house), he is good crated and LOVES his routine of daily morning walks, regardless of the weather, with his foster mom.  Jake, like most Schipperkes, possesses extraordinary senses and an inherent suspicion of strangers. Jake could be an only dog or share his home with another dog his size, preferably a Schipperke. The adoption range for this dog is limited to NC, SC, VA and East TN. If you are interested in adopting this dog, contact h2hadoptions@gmail.com. There is an application process and adoption fee. WE REQUIRE AN ALL-ADULT HOME (NO YOUNG CHILDREN) WITH A SECURELY FENCED YARD FOR JAKE'S ADOPTIVE HOME.  The secure fence must be 4ft or higher, with gaps no greater than 2 ½ inches and attached to the home.  An invisible fence, enclosed patio, terrace or deck, temporary fencing, dog pens or dog lots or community shared fencing (dog park) are NOT considered secure fencing. If your fencing has "puppy pickets" (or is supplemented with garden fencing) it needs to be at least 36 inches high from the ground up AT THE LOWEST POINT.  No exceptions.    We are an all-volunteer organization, and in addition to saving dogs, we have other responsibilities, so we appreciate your patience and understanding during this process. Response time can take up to 5 business. Please inquire only if you are willing to come to Greensboro, NC to meet the dog after we schedule your home visit. We do not ship dogs or put them on transports. Veterinary Care: All Hart-2-Heart Rescue foster dogs are spayed/neutered, current on heartworm prevention, parvo/distemper, bordetella, and rabies vaccines, and are professionally groomed. As needed, our foster dogs have teeth cleanings, extractions, bloodwork and other diagnostic testing. Adoption Fee:  $400December 22, 2024, 2:00 am

Not good with dogs, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Chip is an adorable 1 1/2 year-old, 10 pound Yorkie mix.  Chip's coat is coarse, which means low maintenance and low-to-no shed.   Chip is all terrier and an active and athletic little guy. He is quick and will dart for an open door, so his adoptive home needs to be prepared to manage a young dog and around outside doorways. When Chip came to us, he was unsure but learned to trust his foster mother and other women quickly; at the same time, he is slower to warm up to men.  Chip’s new owner needs to be patient and give Chip time to decompress until he becomes more secure in his new home.  Chip doesn’t mind being crated and is good at entertaining himself with toys. Like most terriers, Chip will bark when there is something to bark about.  He would be a great candidate for someone who wants to do clicker training and a good companion for a walker.  Chip is a dog you need to keep busy or he will figure out how to do that himself! The ideal home for Chip would be with someone who has experience dealing with unsure dogs and understands going slow and moving at Chip’s pace, and wants to bond with a dog through training and enrichment activities.  Chip will do best being the only dog in the home. The adoption range for this dog is limited to NC, SC, VA and East TN. If you are interested in adopting this dog, contact h2hadoptions@gmail.com. There is an application process and adoption fee. WE REQUIRE AN ALL-ADULT HOME WITH A SECURELY FENCED YARD.  The secure fence must be at least 4 feet with gaps no larger than 1 1/4 inch and attached to the home.  An invisible fence, enclosed patio or terrace without grass, temporary fencing, dog pens or dog lots or community shared fencing (dog park) are NOT considered secure fencing. If your fencing has "puppy pickets" (or is supplemented with garden fencing), it needs to be at least 36 inches high from the ground up AT THE LOWEST POINT. No exceptions.
