Story
Someone give this girl a chance. That's all she needs ... a legitimate chance. Ovira (pronounced 'Oh-Veer-uh') has a cute personality once she relaxes. She is playful with dogs and has shown some play with her trusted staff members as well. She grew up with minimal human interaction, in a basement with over a dozen other neglected dogs and cats. Because of this, her animal-animal social skills developed wonderfully; However, this left her with a deficit when it comes to human interaction. She is nervous around people (which makes the shelter particularly scary) but she has NEVER snapped at a human despite her nerves (not even when receiving her intake vet work). Much like a cat, she will hide or avoid when there's company because 'three is a crowd'. HER PERFECT HOME would be ... - very patient, as she will take some time to trust - only host occasional visitors, as her nervousness increases as the head count does - one or more dog in the home, cats would be fine as well. - able to keep her on a leash and/or containedMarch 23, 2024, 12:21 am

Story
Oh hi there. Can you read this? I'm starting to feel invisible. LONGEST CANINE RESIDENT AT THE SHELTER! Since March 2021. Ideally suited for home with low human traffic. Knows 'sit, 'down, 'paw Good with dogs: Yes, prefers males Good with cats: No. Approach to new people: alarm barks/needs to meet people appropriately as she can be weary of new strangers Approach to people she knows: eager and loving Kids: ideally a home with no kids or adult aged kids (16+) About me: - I love to play tug! - I like to wrestle hard with my dog friends (I prefer the boys) - I don't need any special food or medications. I'm an easy keeper. - I am an alarm barker and will scare off intruders... which means my future home needs to learn how to introduce me to new people so that I am comfortable. - The shelter has a kiddie pool in the summer and I LOVE to lay down in it to cool off. I'd love a home with few guests so I feel secure. __________________________________________March 23, 2024, 12:21 am

I'm R.B.G. and I'm a strong and confident lady, just a Really Big Girl. I have a wee underbite that makes all the fellas swoon. I came to the shelter as a stray and was a happy goofy girl... but this shelter life is stressful. I'd do best in a home that is goofy and playful but I'd prefer not to have children in the house. See, sometimes I get hyper and easily use my mouth vs my head to interact. I like human time, I've met some dogs and been good and playful with them. I've got a good mix of playful and chill which means I'm happy to spend that lazy Saturday next to you. I know how to 'sit', 'down', and I am likely potty trained.March 23, 2024, 12:21 am

Story
Good with Dogs, Cats, Respectful Kids because she is deaf and does startle easily. Overall she is in good health but does need to stay on wet foods and plenty of fluids or consider a kidney food diet. Doesn't like being picked up or using stairs, but is slowly learning. She would much prefer a fenced yard that she can go exploring in and to be allowed to do her own thing.March 23, 2024, 12:21 am

Story
Alisha is a very sweet and happy girl. She lives well with 3 other dogs in her foster home of various sizes (from tiny to her same size). She is totally crate trained but has behaved so well with her foster that she is now allowed free roam. She loves treats and food; she listens well to verbal guidance in her foster home. She likes a good ole belly rub. Alisha is the most content napping in the home. She appears to be potty trained and happily pops back into the house to continue her napping. Alisha tested positive for heartworm when she came to our facility, so we have begun treatment for heartworm. We will continue to cover the heartworm treatment until it is finished, but she can always find a home in the meantime. Alisha also came to us with some visual deficits, however she navigates her world pretty well. She finds her way around and is able to do stairs. She appears mostly blind but may be able to differentiate some shadows in certain lights. She has been spayed and microchipped. She is up to date on vaccines. Alisha is WAITING TO MEET YOU!!!March 23, 2024, 12:21 am
