Story
Isaac is an 11-year-old, 7 lb. Yorkie fellow being fostered near Roanoke, VA Hi, friends! I’m Isaac, an approximately 11-year-old Yorkie gentleman, and I’m officially ready to find my forever home! I’m a sweet senior boy who enjoys the company of other small dogs and does well with children over age 5. I haven’t been around toddlers or cats, so I’m not sure what I think of them yet. I’m now up to date on my veterinary care and feeling so much better after being treated for a painful double ear infection. My bloodwork looks good, and I’m microchipped and ready to begin my next chapter! I love spending time outdoors with my person, going for car rides, and taking walks—I’m very good on a leash. I’ll potty outside, although I do occasionally have an accident indoors. I also enjoy my meals, treats, and relaxing in my crate, especially when the door is left open so I can come and go as I please. I’m not a full-time lap dog, but I will happily curl up on your lap for a cozy little nap. My ideal home would be with someone who is home much of the day and wants a loving, easygoing companion to share life with. If you have room in your heart and home for a handsome senior gentleman, please submit an adoption application for me. I can’t wait to meet my forever family!

Story
Skye is a beautiful, good hearted, large border Collie mix. She loves her family and kids. She is crate trained and prefers to sleep there on her large stuffed unicorn we refer to as uni. She needs to be an only pet and she has to be separated from other animals because she tries to hurt them. We have both cats and dogs. She loves people and kids. But, we have had her four years, have had her since she was a puppy. and have not been able to stop the jumping up on people. Needs some training. We are being forced to leave our house the end of August and going to an apartment. It is not fair to her to have to stay in crate for long periods due to constraints of apartment.

Story
Meet Athena ❤️Athena is a sweet, silly, affectionate girl who deserves a loving forever home. I originally took her in while working as a caregiver in Colorado after her previous owner had to move into a nursing home that couldn't accommodate her. I brought her with me to Virginia while looking for the right home, and now that I'm preparing to move again, I'm hoping to find someone who will love her as much as I do.She's incredibly sweet, curious, and loves people. She's also good with most cats and has never shown aggression toward them. She's the kind of dog who will quickly become part of the family. ❤️She does shed, but regular vacuuming, grooming, and occasional deshedding at PetSmart kept it surprisingly manageable!I'm not looking to rush her into just any home. I want to find the right person or family who will give Athena the love, attention, and happy life she deserves. If you think she could be your girl, please reach out! 🐾

Our newest little powerhouse 💥🐾 Don’t let his size fool you — Heinz is way more powerful than he looks and full of energy. He doesn’t do “walks” in the traditional sense… he leads the way on his invisible pogo-stick ⚡ More than just energy, Heinz has a big heart. During playtime, he stands up for the little guys and makes sure everyone plays fair 🐶❤️ At just 8 months old, Heinz is ready for a forever home — could that be yours?

One of 4 puppies from the same surrendered litter. She is inseparable from her sister, they do everything together. She is the runt of the litter for sure and super submissive, but that doesn't stop her from trying to be friends with everyone!

Story
Hello, my name is Fiddle! I came to Angels of Assisi thanks to a rescue from a hoarding situation in West Virginia, where I lived in neglect with over forty other dogs. It has been a long road for me to truly trust people again, but the staff and volunteers at Angels have been working diligently with me, and I have made excellent progress. I am still shy when meeting new people, but I have lots of love to give if you are willing to give me a chance! I am a happy, energetic girl once I feel comfortable and safe. Because of my background, I require multiple meet-and-greets with potential adopters to make sure that the home is the best fit for me. This also gives you more chances to get to know me and for me to warm up to you! I would do best in a calm home without small children or cats. With some time and patience, I can show you all that I have to offer. Come meet me at Angels of Assisi! **My adoption is sponsored, so qualified adopters will not pay an adoption fee.**
