Story
Nina is an active 2yo 45lb border collie/german shepherd mix. She has a lot of personality and can be a total derp (tongue hanging out sideways and everything)! She's housebroken and crate trained, and walks amazing on the leash! She loves other dogs and is good with indoor cats. She is pretty high energy and enjoys going on hikes and playing with her canine siblings. She MUST go to a home where there is a resident confident adult medium-large dog (she worships the male german shepherd in her foster home but is best friends with a female Doberman the same age.. she's fine with small dogs but she's a bit too rambunctious for them). She has also discovered the comforts of the couch and loves to lay along the top and get petted while you watch movies. Because she can still be skittish with people though, she should NOT go to a home with children or apartment living (no exceptions!). She would do best in a gentle, quiet adult only home with another dog and a house with fenced yard. She has gained a lot of skills and confidence while in her foster home, but she is ready for the next chapter in her life with a new family that will continue to help her grow. Here is Nina’s story video: https://youtu.be/KxWGwurZVWk King is Nina’s companion/emotional support dog. He’s a 7-8yo purebred 75lb German Shepherd. Nina WORSHIPS him and is his shadow, follows him everywhere, and they even crate together. King is a mellow boy who prefers lounging in the house or on the couch. He would do best in a cat-free home.  They are not for first time dog owner, but when together they’re pretty easy. All they need is a couch and a yard.  Adoption fee for the two together will be $550. Nina can also be adopted by herself without King, however, we are requiring she go to a home that has another resident dog, and that she goes with a pal pup (either King or another known friend) for the first week during the transition phase, so that she doesn’t panic in a new home. Story
Sadie is a loyal ~2yo spayed 55 pound active small German Shepherd. She loves lots of affection, long walks and playing with her toys. She is a moderate energy dog, playful and active but also settles down nicely indoors by your feet. She is housetrained and sleeps in a crate.  She will need an active home that will keep her mentally and physically busy. She will chase cats that run. She needs proper intro to new dogs.   She is undersocialized and also needs continued training and structure. She needs continued socializing with other dogs and people (reactive in public). She would do best in a home with German Shepherd experience, as she can be insecure and also defensive/protective. She would do best with a single woman, or will need experienced handlers in a multi ADULT home (NO CHILDREN) who will be willing to commit to working on her socialization. NO APARTMENTS! Please contact Diana at (510) 333-4420 or theperfectdogrescue@gmail.com or fill out the adoption application:  http://www.theperfectdog.org/TPDadoptapp.doc October 4, 2024, 12:21 pm

Story
Lorelie T is a beautifully proportioned, classic looking female "pocket" German Shepherd.  Lorelie is gentle and affectionate, and loves going on walks.  Her mobility is typical for a senior dog, having no problems with short walks and easily navigating 3-4 steps.  Lorelie is good with some dogs, but she can be selective about who she opens up to and plays with.  She would do best as an only dog in a home without young kids. Lorelie T Summary:- Female, 13 yrs old, 53 pounds- Good with adults, older kids, some dogs- TBD - cats What's Next:  Lorelie is ready for adoption!  Thulani does not charge an adoption fee and provides medical coverage for life.  All Thulani dogs go to their forever homes with a supply of food, a cushy bed, and toys if wanted.  All dogs pass a set of evaluation tests before being accepted into TSGSR.  The tests are not intended to assess how smart the dog is but are important for TSGSR to determine if the dog is expected to be safe in a family home.  The tested behaviors check to see if the dog will guard or protect food or toys from people, will tolerate handling all over its body (including ears, nose, lips to check teeth, lifting paws, belly, back, and gently pulling the tail).  This dog remained calm during all of these tests and showed no aggressive tendencies. ##1715732##

Story
Clarissa T is the pawsfect dog!  She came to Thulani from the Long Beach Shelter in December and is currently being fostered in Southern California. She is an eight year old, spayed female, weighs about 85 pounds and is all that an adopter could ask for. Her energy level is moderate, she is house-trained, very affectionate, has a calm manner about her, friendly with people, OK with dogs, and great with kids. She will accept and give hugs anytime of the day, tail wagging. She also loves her walks, (on occasion will pull on the leash) loves car rides and is crate-trained. She would also do well in learning basic commands. All in all, the pawsfect dog who will make a wonderful companion. Thulani does not charge an adoption fee and provides medical coverage for life.  All Thulani dogs go to their forever homes with a supply of food, a cushy bed, and toys if wanted.  ##1912876##

Story
Hi, I am Meeko, and I just might be the perfect match for you.  I am a loyal, 8 year old, 62 pound pup looking for my forever home.  Here is what my foster says about me!  Meeko bonds easily to one person and craves closeness to that person.  She loves attention and affection, but when it comes to food, look out, given a choice between food and her person, food comes first so be mindful of food left out!  Her activities include at least two easy daily walks, car rides where she can put her nose out the window to do sniffing, settling in with family, napping, watching TV and just relaxing.  While outside, she will chase small animals, and other dogs, if given the opportunity.  Lastly she so wants to be with her person that she has a hard time being left alone and likes it best when her family is settled and she can relax.   Meeko would benefit from having an experienced adopter who is able to spend time with her and provide her with the leadership she sometimes needs.  In summation, Meeko is looking for a moderate to active home, and is a precious dog who is sure to bring her new family lots of warmth and love.  ##1915683##

Story
Kaia is a nine year old German Shepherd who is as sweet as she can be.  This low energy girl has an easy going, mellow temperament.  Kaia would love a quiet home to call her own where she can just hang out and chill!  She likes people to be with her at home, and when left alone will spend her time napping.  But she is more than happy to interrupt her napping when the smell of treats is in the air!   Kaia will easily win over your heart because her personality is one of being easy going, friendly, playful, and affectionate.  When playing, she likes to be vocal, while sniffing, exploring and foraging at the same time - all of this in the name of fun.  She loves the outdoor sights and smells, but is not interested in rabbits, squirrels or lizards! If you are looking for a perfect dog, look no further, you have found that dog and her name is Kaia.  Please keep in mind that it is likely small children might be a bit much for her and steps (stairs) are hard on her.  She will be available for adoption once she has been spayed.  In the meantime, Kaia needs a foster or a foster-to-adopt home.  ##2137810##
