The elderly gentleman who adopted me as an 8-week old puppy had to undergo emergency surgery and lost his leg to diabetes, leaving himunable to properly care for me. I was only 10 months old at the time. I am now a 1-year oldstrapping young pup who has known only love and playtime my whole life. I have boundlessenergy and am up for whatever game you have in mind.. tug, fetch, long walks, you name it! Ineed a securely fenced yard as I know no boundaries (having been raised on 25 acres and loveto chase the wildlife, i.e., critters, deer, nothing is off limits)! I have shared my home with catsand will even play with cats! I have not been introduced (other than thru my kennel;) to myForster Mom’s dog as he is a special needs dog with delicate hips. Although I display “normal”fencing behavior in my kennel, it appears that I will be ok with another dog given slow, properintroduction. The best fit would be a dog that can keep up with my high-energy personality!That said, I CANNOT be crated. I am strong and have destroyed a large crate from the insideout. I do well in a large welded wire kennel (minimum size 6 x 8 x 4, pictured). My Foster Momkeeps me safe in a 10 x 8 x 6 kennel which I cannot topple and am safe in when she is away.As my prior home offered me limited opportunity to meet new people, I am wary of strangersand need slow, proper introductions. Once I know you, you are my friend! I bond easily withmy “person” and will guard that person and my home. An experienced owner is preferred. Hello, Hydra was adopted by me going over three years ago when he was around 6 months old. I had another GSD that was older than him, however the other died in an accident about two years ago. Hydra was fine with him and can be okay with other dogs, however he can be aggressive with other dogs as well. I have had no issues with Hydra around children, however he does like to jump on people. He is a sweet dog, but I do not have the time to give him the proper attention and training, and my wife is not a fan of him after having a baby. Hydra would be better off in a home where he can be trained properly and given a lot of attention. He is a very intelligent dog and learns things quickly. Hydra hates getting his nails trimmed, and despite many days trying to train him to be okay with it i have been unsuccessful. Hydra can be around other dogs but if you have a dog I would suggest familiarize them with each other before making a move.

Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 100-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.-Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.
