Story
Meet Mickey! He is a 3yr old neutered male Great Pyrenees/Kangal Shepherd dog that weighs 68lbs. He came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 12/27 as a stray. When first arriving at the shelter, he was unsure of why he was there, and needed time to decompress. Staff and volunteers continued to help him adjust and he is doing much better now. He walks beautifully on a leash, did his business in the shelter yard and spent a significant amount of time with his nose to ground, sniffing out all the glorious smells! He is lively and active, and yet a well-mannered gentle boy. He is sociable, friendly and sweet natured and perfectly good with being loved on and petted. He does seem to have herding tendencies which is part of the breed. He knows the sit and paw commands (will give both paws!). He has a soft silky, beautiful coat, and is waiting for his own loving family to come meet him.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Phoebe!  She is a sweet, submissive, dog-friendly, freckled badger-faced, female Great Pyrenees rescued from a local shelter. Phoebe is almost 4 yrs old and weighs 80 pounds.  Phoebe is a little shy when new people approach her, but she will walk right up to you on her own for pets and loving. Phoebe is good with dogs. She enjoys playing with larger dogs and leaves little dogs alone.  She is house trained and is good on a leash, but has a tendency to pull.  She rides well in a car and loves to look out the window.   Phoebe is very afraid of loud noises like thunder and fireworks, so she needs a little nook to hide in when she feels compelled. She is also not a fan of grooming. However she does love keeping squirrels and birds out of her yard. Phoebe is a very loving girl just waiting for her forever home. Currently she is in a foster home North of Dallas, Texas. Any out of state adopters are responsible for arranging their own transportation. Phoebe is spayed and up to date on vaccines. Her adoption fee is $250. Become an approved adopter with SPIN Rescue and we can put you in touch with her foster to arrange a meet. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Barry! He is a gentle, goofy, laidback, 1yr old, 90lb male Great Pyrenees mix. Barry has a lot more of a white Lab build and coat, but still total Pyrenees couch potato energy, even as a puppy! His foster family affectionately calls him 'Butter Bear' because he is so sweet and squishy. He is sweet with people. He can be a little bashful, but will give you gentle kisses and snuggles. He did great at our recent adoption event meeting lots of little kids and adults, he didn't jump up on anyone and ended up laying down calmly.  Barry is great with dogs. He loves to play and roughhouse with the large dogs in his foster home. He hasn't been tested with cats or small dogs, but his foster family thinks he would do well with them. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body. Barry is very go with the flow. He is house trained. He walks beautifully on the leash, keeping a perfect strolling pace! He gets a little nervous during car rides and will drool a lot.  He has been with his foster family since he was a young puppy found on the streets, so he will need his forever family to be patient with him while he settles in. Barry is currently in a foster home in DFW area, Texas. Out of state adopters are responsible for arranging their own transportation - most make the drive themselves. Barry is neutered and up to date on vaccinations. His adoption fee is $250.  Apply to meet and adopt Barry at www.spinrescue.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 24, 2025, 6:54 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. This is Aspen! He is a very happy male Great Pyrenees who loves to play with dogs and gets attention from his people.  We are guessing Aspen was born somewhere between May and November of 2024 as he still has the playful energy of a young dog and has grown a bit since coming into rescue, he's around 82 pounds now. Aspen lives in a foster home with lots of dogs and would do great in a home with playful dogs. He would also do well in a home by himself where he could get lots of attention and time dedicated to playing/walks. He has a favorite foster sibling, a young female Pyr mix Allison (also available for adoption), but he gets along with most dogs he meets. Aspen can be a little shy at first with people, but when he warms up, he loves getting attention. He is always happy to see his people.  He loves to go on walks and does well on a leash. When it's time to go for a walk, his tail wags all the way from one side of his body to the other, he can't help but wag his whole body when he's happy. He knows sit and come, especially when food/treats are involved. He is mostly house-trained, although he does occasionally mark in the house, this is something that has been improving with training. He is crate trained and has behaved very well on car rides.  Aspen is a friendly love and will be a great addition to any home!  He is currently in a foster home in DFW, Texas. Out of state adopters are responsible for arranging transport. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heart worm negative. His adoption fee is $250.  Apply to meet and adopt Aspen at www.spinrescue.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 29, 2026, 12:31 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Jamie! Jamie is a friendly, low energy, 6 yr old, 85 pounds, male Great Pyrenees. He is a medical rescue that came to SPIN Rescue struggling with an upper respiratory infection, very dry/flaky skin, coat issues, and heartworms. He has since recovered and his coat has come in beautifully. He is currently on heartworm slow-kill treatment, which SPIN Rescue will provide his adopters with medications to continue treating. Jamie is a very lazy dog that loves to lay around and be comfortable whenever he has the chance. He loves to be petted and his favorite position is laying down showing his belly for belly rubs. He loves to lounge around by doorways to do his job of being a speed bump.  Jamie loves kids and did well when tested with children, even the little ones. He is very sweet and calm. He has had issues where he was bit/attacked by other dogs in the past and is now fearful of new dogs. While he has adjusted to the dogs in his foster home, it would be best if he is the only dog in his forever home.  Jamie is house trained, crate trained, and enjoys having a safe space. He gets nervous in the car, although is slowly improving. He does bark some outside at strangers and loud noises, especially sirens. He loves walks but doesn't need an excessive amount of exercise due to his low energy levels. He could even be a good apartment dog.   One of his main struggles is his fear of slick floors. This is slowly improving but he definitely prefers carpet and rugs in his home.   Think this sweet lazy guy would be a perfect fit for your home? Apply to become a SPIN adopter and we would love to put you in touch with his foster family to arrange a meet. Get started at www.SpinRescue.org Jamie is currently in a foster home in DFW, Texas. Out of state adopters are responsible for arranging transport on their own. His adoption fee is $250. Jamie is neutered and up to date on vaccines.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 4, 2026, 7:20 pm
