Story
Marlowe was found chained to a tree in Rockwall County. This family didn’t have time for him. They were preparing to put their house up for sale and were just going to leave him after keeping him for nine months until SPIN stepped in. SPIN is a pet rescue organization. Marlowe is a wonderful, fun-loving, playful, dog. He is approximately 24 months old and weighs 84 pounds. He loves to take car rides, play tug of war, run, get scratched behind the ears, and take long walks. Marlowe would love to have another brother or sister and/or children to call his own. Marlowe has a very loving, gentle, and kind nature about him, and he just wants to be part of your family and do fun stuff with you. Marlowe loves the great outdoors but is learning the creature comforts of indoor living. Here is the link to him from SPIN: http://www.spinrescue.org/available-dogs#action_0=pet&animalID_0

Story
** COURTESY POST ** ** This animal is NOT at the Rowlett Animal Shelter, so please do not inquire with them ** ** For information contact Leonora Lowery; (972)802 9422  ** My name is Leonora Lowery and my daughter and I found a dog tied to a stop sign by a railroad track.  We assessed that he was not aggressive before removing the chains and putting him in our car and we brought him home. Once home, we put a harness on him and attempted to walk him in to a crate that was already set up for him by my son. The dog (we have named Oreo) would not leave the gravel drive of our home and we realized that he was hesitant to step on the grass and we can only deduce that he had never seen grass before. Where he was tied was also all gravel. We made several attempts to find him a home but time and resources limit us as to how much exposure we can give him.  We have a vet tech friend that estimated his age at about 1 1/2 - 2 years old and possibly a great pyr/ st. bernard mix. He is about 80 lbs, not neutered.  He is a sweet dog and has acclimated to the crate when indoors but desperately needs a home. We cannot keep him as our own dogs are all seniors and some in delicate health - namely our Anatolian Shepherd that is 100 lbs and has a rod replacing his shoulder. Oreo is still very much puppy and can be quite rambunctious and has already run into him once causing a little discomfort to him.  The other dogs here are smaller and do not like him because they find his size and energy intimidating so Oreo is sadly only able to be outside on his own and when we can play with him. I cannot bring myself to take him to a shelter as I feel he has been thru enough trauma.      September 29, 2023, 10:10 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Mac!  He is the most handsome gentle giant.  Mac is a love and an extremely loyal dog. He tends to be a little shy of strangers at first, but if you let him “take a sniff,” he will be your new best friend. Mac turned 8 years old in January of 2023. He tips the scales at 128 pounds. He has been well-loved and looked after.  He does currently live with another Pyrenees, however would do well on his own. He does like people around but does not require a lot of attention. Pats and scratches in the mornings and the evenings are what he likes. Mac loves to take walks and does well with a harness. He loves to walk slowly and “smell the roses” along the way.  He loves to nap during the day and walk mornings and evenings. He is very cautious around other dogs while walking and does not want to interact with other dogs. He is basically and inside dog, but does love to go in the backyard and lay in the sun when it is not extremely hot. Mac is fully housed trained and does not need to be crated. He does bark when people are at the door and ring the bell.  He barks at times when he sees other dogs walk by his window.  He is a great security system. Mac will be a loyal loving dog to caring owners. He will melt your heart with his beautiful eyes and gentle spirit. SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet India!  Born October 25, 2021, this tender cutie pie is on the small side for the breed. This little pumpkin is friendly and sweet with people, but a little reserved at first.  She’ll show you her famous “sad eyes” pose to make you turn to mush. She is playful with anything that moves!  She loves to run around outside and is very active.  She doesn’t know her own strength, so she shouldn’t be placed with babies, toddlers, or the infirm. She also loves basking in the cool morning sun. India needs a doggy companion in her forever home.  She prefers dogs that aren’t overzealous.  She scares easily and will run away crying if a dog jumps on her.  She is very food motivated, since she was raised with her brother; she is the more dominant of the two and would try to steal his food. She is good with cats, too.  She does well with cats that like dogs.  We suspect that if a cat smacked her, she would run away crying. She is housed trained, leash trained, and she rides nicely in a car. She is very vocal and likes to bark.  Ever the endearing one, she cries when she gets scared. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Handsome Hank!  This quick video shows his sweet, happy personality, featuring his waggy tail and wonderful freckles.  https://youtube.com/shorts/keUASMW2zpE This fun-loving boy was born around November 2020.  At 68 pounds, he is fully grown and on the small side for a Great Pyrenees.  While we named him Handsome and nicknamed him Hank, he doesn’t yet recognize either.  He reacts to the tone of your voice. Handsome has been through a lot.  It seems he was treated very badly at some point, because if you raise your voice, he will cower and act as if he is in trouble.  He is afraid of loud noises.  And he is deathly afraid of water at bath time.  It is so sad to see.  He is such a sweet boy; it is heartbreaking to imagine what has happened to him. Handsome was found as a stray.  He was anemic, malnourished, heartworm positive, whipworm positive, with buckshot in his legs and a large hernia pushing his organs into his chest cavity.  We took him to our amazing friends at North Colony Animal Hospital where they cared for him until he was healthy enough for his hernia surgery.  It took a veterinarian, and three vet techs, two hours of surgery to get him put back together and another two weeks of rest as he healed. He did not react well to the anesthesia so probably should not be put under again. Now that he is fully healed, he loves to lay in your lap, run around a huge yard, go on walks and explore.  He loves to chew on toys and throw them in the air.  He would love going to a dog park with you if the other pups there are nice.   He likes to climb chain-link fences!  So, he must go to a home with a large backyard that has a 6- to 8-foot wooden fence. Handsome is fully house trained.  He is great on a leash and in a pack walk.  He is crate trained, rides well in a car, and is not much of a barker. He likes to play calmly with other dogs.  He will sometimes just paw at them while he wiggles on his back!  He would do well with another dog in the home.  He might be fine as an only dog if he has people with him most of the time. This gentle boy loves all people.  He needs a loving, calm, nurturing environment where he can continue to regain his confidence in people. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Sweet Pea!  She is petite, gentle, and silly.  Born around April 2020, she is small for a Great Pyrenees, and is at her optimal weight of 50 pounds. Sweet Pea is shy and a little timid with new people, so it will take time for her to adjust in a new home.  Once she gets to know you, she gets excited and playful.  She frequently gets the zoomies – sprinting with pure joy! She loves just about every dog she has ever met – big, small, and in between.  She must have at least one doggy companion in her forever home. She will adjust and come out of her shell much faster with them as her mentor.  She really loves to play and run with them.  She is sweet and playful, not pushy, and respectful of their boundaries. She loves cats that do well with dogs. Sweet Pea is house trained, leash trained, crate trained, and rides nicely in a car.  She barks infrequently. Prior to rescue, Sweet Pea was living as a street dog with a pack in a rural area.  She had to be trapped because she was afraid of people. Once in a foster home, she slowly became accustomed to human affection and handling. She has adjusted to house life, but still has some behaviors she picked up while on the run.  For instance, she walks well on a leash.  But if she is not on a leash, she runs when approached; so, she is not a good candidate for the dog park or any off-leash adventures. This beautiful girl is super sweet and will be a wonderful addition for a family that is willing to take the time to let her get to know them.  She would likely do best in a calm household, because she runs from sudden movements and startles easily. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Jerry!  This gentle, sweet boy was born around November 2021.  At 89 pounds, he sports a lovely, thick coat with a barely perceptible golden cast.  He is likely a Great Pyrenees/Golden Retriever mix, sharing the appearance and characteristics of both breeds equally. Jerry was found as a stray.  He was skinny, caked in mud, and had a fresh through-and-through bullet hole in his leg.  Rescuers quickly got him to a veterinarian where he was treated and bathed, then to a foster home for recovery.  His wound has healed nicely. Genetically, Jerry’s hocks (knees on his back legs) are over-extended, and that makes him post-legged (the joints are too straight).  Any surgery would likely make his legs worse.  The best things for Jer-Bear are to be on Cosequin and to maintain his 89-pound weight.  On the bright side, he has the cutest little booty sashay when he walks. He loves people.  He enjoys their attention, but doesn’t demand it.  He is really a good boy, and is easy to have around.  He likes being brushed. Jer-Bear loves stuffy toys and pillows, and he treats them with care.  He doesn’t destroy them, and carries them around with a soft mouth.  He’ll take his treasures outside or gather them in his collection spot. He gets along easily with male and female dogs.  He plays gently with them.  He doesn’t require a doggy buddy in his forever home, but he might enjoy having one. Jerry is totally housebroken and has no need for a crate.  He does fine on leash.  He doesn’t bark a whole lot. He is not great about getting in a car, he just needs a little booty boost to get in.  He rides very well, laying down for the ride. SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
