Story
Lena is a 3yr old Husky who is looking for a home. She has done a great job raising a litter of 4 puppies and now she deserves a relaxing, yet fun Forever Home so she can take a break. Lena is a friendly dog who has been obedient when we ask her to do something. She is loving, smart and knows sit, down and paw. She is active and will enjoy going on walks and hikes to explore. She has lots of energy for an active home. Lena has times that she does not want you near her food so she would do best in an adult home or a home with older teenagers who can be part of her training. If you are looking for a fun buddy on your adventures, come on in to meet Lena. You can visit this pet during our Animal Viewing Hours below. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. From the moment you meet Lady, her sweet, friendly nature and warm demeanor will capture your heart !  Her gentle eyes and wagging tail reflect her genuine affection for people, making her an instant favorite among both friends and strangers.  Because Lady loves everyone and every canine she meets, her impulse control is a work in progress. Lady absolutely LOVES the outdoors – except rain and then she becomes a diva – ha-ha. Lady is in her glory when it snows. She is truly perky and feisty in colder weather, but what Husky mix wouldn’t be! She is great with kids but given her strength perhaps not younger than 10; of course, this is child  and parent dependent. Lady’s foster mom loves her to the moon and back and wants the best for her. Lady recently  completed basic obedience training with H.E.A.R.T (Husky Education and Rescue Team). Lady needs a loving family she can call her own, a yard to run and play fetch, and maybe a dog playmate. Lady is ready for the final chapter of her life, her own loving family.  She was found as a stray,  but it is apparent that at one time she had a home given her manners – crate and house-trained.  Lady was a wonderful mother to her 8 puppies. While in our care, Lady was treated successfully for Heartworm.  Lady has had some benign mammary adenomas removed and a few remain that need to be removed as a precaution.  ASR will pay for this procedure. Please consider adopting Lady, or ask about our Foster to Adopt program. THANKS TO SEAN S. AND MARTHA S. FOR YOUR VERY GENEROUS SPONSORSHIPS OF LADY!   If you have not yet completed our Application process, please complete our Adoption Application at www.allshepherdrescue.com. Our Adoption Fee is $350.00Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 2, 2024, 12:05 pm

Story
Meet Avery, a 5 year old, 46 pound female full bred Siberian Husky that is quiet, food motivated, and loves activity/exercise, especially with other playful dogs. Her joy comes from intense play with other dogs and running off leash through a stream promptly followed by a big drink of water and a peaceful nap. Avery is a compliment generating bundle of husky fluff that without fail receives a compliment on how cute she is every other day.Avery interacts well with other dogs, understands how to be gentle with smaller or more senior dogs, and respects another dog saying they are not interested. Her interaction with cats/other pets is unknown and does not have experience with small (toddler or younger) kids. Avery knows the basic commands (sit, down, stay, and come) as well as paw (shake), nose (touches her nose to you), and has surprisingly strong off leash recall....for a husky. A fenced yard is necessary if left outside unsupervised, but she is off leash trained and does disengage when called. She seldom jumps onto a person and responds quickly to loving correction. Avery's typical exercise consists of 2-3 one mile (or many more miles) walks a day, weekly excursions such as hiking on weekends, and frequent dog park (or other dog oriented socialization such as daycare). Given adequate exercise, Avery will sleep every other hour she is home. As a non-vocal husky, she will randomly surprise you with a cute, soft reminder it is time for a walk or that she would like to play but does let other dogs know how happy she is to be playing off leash with them. Ironically, Avery is not a fan of cuddling but desperately wants you to sit on the couch so she can lay next to you or have a belly rub.Avery's ideal forever home is with a family/individual that is active outdoors with another dog to match her energy and a yard to sit and watch people or chase squirrels. Avery has not lived with other pets or small children (toddlers or younger) but is highly adaptive when given attention, a schedule, and plenty of exercise. Avery is up to date on vaccinations, monthly heartworm, and flea/tick prevention.Ready to make Avery a permanent part of your family? Story
INTRODUCING ANGEL! (Descriptor: Adorable) This cuddly little girl is approximately 3 months old (DOB 1/4/2024) and currently weighs 20 pounds. Part of a litter of puppies born in Puerto Rico, she was one of the lucky ones who evaded the dangers and found an advocate in a Tara’s House local contact. Airfare was secured by a kind donor and she jetted off to her new life in a foster home in Maryland. Since arriving, she’s been playing with her new foster “litter mates” - an adult German Shepherd and a senior pittie-mix. Thought to be a shepherd-type herself, Angel has adorable coloring and markings with one blue eye and one brown. We think she is a husky/shepherd mix. Angel is smart and has picked up the lessons her new “litter mates” have taught her and potties outside 98% of the time! She is also crate trained and settles in it without a fuss. Although playing with pups and peeps is her thing, she will cuddle up with you and chill on the couch easily. Still a puppy, her energy is consistent with being the happy, healthy and fortuitous young thing that she is. Angel’s adoption donation fee is $450, which includes spay/neuter, routine vetting and a microchip. You can apply for Angel by filling out our online application, which is found on our website www.tarashouse.org.  Please email us at info@tarashouse.net with any questions.  April 27, 2024, 4:11 pm
