Story
Cookee's Story Cookee is a beautiful 2-year-old, 47-lb red and white Husky who came to us after being surrendered by her previous owner through no fault of her own. This sweet girl has a big personality and an even bigger heart. She’s friendly, affectionate, and always ready for attention, but like many young Huskies, she has lots of energy and can be a bit hyper at times. Cookee enjoys being active and will thrive with an adopter who can give her plenty of exercise, structure, and consistency. She does pull strongly on the leash, so continued training will help her learn better walking manners. With patience and positive reinforcement, she has great potential to be an amazing companion. She may even understand some Spanish commands! As a true Husky, Cookee is curious and clever—two traits that make this breed famous for their escape-artist skills. Because of this, she will require a securely fenced yard where she can safely run and play. Husky experience is strongly preferred to ensure she goes to a home that understands the breed’s energy, intelligence, and need for stimulation. Cookee is ready to find an active, loving family who will give her the time, training, and adventure she deserves. We are now accepting applications for Cookee. 🐾 Please apply for Cookee at https://www.gloucestercountynj.gov/FormCenter/Animal-Shelter-5/PreAdoption-Application-50

Story
Carson aka Flash is still waiting for his perfect person. He came in as a stray last JUNE! That`s to long for any dog to wait but it is an absolute mystery as to why a stunner like this would sit. Carson is a comedian in a fur coat. He will give you hours of entertainment and he has his breed to thank for that. Thanks to the volunteer group the mystery of his interesting looks has been solved with a DNA test. Beautiful looks and comedic personality along with his high drive is attributed to........81% husky, 19% malamute!!If your familiar with these breeds, then you`ll totally understand this boy. We will not place him in a hope with small children due to his rough play and high energy. Unsure how he will do with another dog, but we do require a meet and greet if you already have a dog in the home. Due to his prey drive we don`t recommend small dog or cats for this guy. Carson does keep a clean kennel and doesn`t protest a wire crate, so we suspect Housebroken and crate trained. Come meet this boy if this guy sounds like a dog you would enjoy.

Story
Gohan came in with his sister Bella. They can go together but will also be very happy apart and probably get in to much less trouble with their own individual homes. A fenced back yard and breed experience is required for this boy. He is smart and high energy. He needs a family that is looking for a take hiking take to the beach take for a drive or run kind of dog. He is very social and needs to be kept busy. He appears dog friendly however will likely chase cats just for fun. Older kids would work well with this guy, but small kids would likely get bumped around. Did I mention how beautiful he is but along with that beauty comes grooming as anyone with experience with this breed well knows. So, if you`re a husky person looking for a husky get into the shelter and meet this guy!

Story
Teddy was adopted as a puppy and what should have been the start of a happy life quickly turned into something heartbreaking. He was found tied up and abandoned in a parking lot. Teddy was brought to the safety of a local shelter by the humane Society and, instead of getting the fresh start he deserved, his adopter sued to get him back. That litigation placed Teddy on hold as unavailable for adoption and forced him to spend eight long months of his puppy-hood in a shelter kennel. Teddy did not get to fully experience being a carefree puppy. But he's ready now! Ready for a couch, ready for stability, ready for someone who will never let him feel abandoned again! Despite all he's been through, he is gentle and loving, he is resilient, he still believes in people and he's ready to be someone's dog! Teddy needs a committed forever home, a family, patience and positive guidance to now learn about being the pet he was meant to be and about being in a home where he is loved, safe and cherished. He's already learned about the goodness of people at Dog Boarding at the Beach. They said he's an AMAZING dog. Highly intelligent, playful energy, and a mischievous sparkle in his eye. He has a BIG PERSONALITY and since being at Myrtle Beach he has learned about being the social butterfly. He is one of the favorite playmates on site. He's fun and loves all the dogs as well as his handlers. This pup is so ready for someone to teach him about being in a loving home!

Story
At the time I am writing this Roger has been waiting at the shelter for over 210 DAYS. We, staff and volunteer`s alike are confused as to how an incredible dog like this has only ever had 1 application. Roger is very high energy in the kennel, jumping continuously trying to get people`s attention. When its time to come out of the kennel for a walk he will sit nicely and get leashed. He does pull a bit at first but settles into a great walk with anyone wants to spend time with him. Roger knows many basic commands and knows when to turn his energy on and off. Once he gets some of his energy out with a walk or play session Roger will stretch out and hang with you. He keeps a clean kennel even after the shelter closes and everyone leaves the building for 16 hours. He seems open to meeting other dogs if you already have a dog in the home. A meet and greet is required. He has had controlled meets during pack walks and done great. And can we talk about his looks? Do you love the look of a husky but not all that hair? Roger is NOT shaved down he actually has a short coat which he enjoys having brushed.Don`t make this handsome unusual looking guy wait any longer. Come into the shelter and meet him.
