Story
Meet Pooch, a fun-loving and affectionate guy who is ready to find a family to call his own! Pooch was found as a stray, and his finder described him as a friendly, cuddly, playful pup who is comfortable around strangers, children, and other animals. He has a wonderful balance of curiosity, energy, and sweetness that makes him a fun companion for an active household.
Pooch is a curious explorer who loves to follow his nose and investigate everything around him. He is easy to leash, enjoys going for walks, and likes to stop and sniff all the interesting smells along the way. While he may pull a bit when something catches his attention, he is happy to continue exploring with his person. He enjoys spending time outdoors and will occasionally check in with his handler, showing off his playful side with happy tail wags and a little excitement.
When meeting new people, Pooch is friendly and social, though he can be a little shy at first. Once comfortable, his silly and affectionate personality comes out. He enjoys attention, tolerates handling, and may even jump up excitedly to say hello before settling back down to explore. Pooch is very food motivated and is still learning polite treat manners, so tossing treats is the best way to help him practice calm interactions.
Pooch has also shown that he can be a polite social partner with other dogs. He enjoys sniffing and greeting canine friends, showing loose body language and happy tail wags before moving away to continue exploring. He would likely do well with slow, respectful introductions to potential dog friends.
Due to his enthusiasm and playful energy, Pooch would do best with children ages 12 and older who can appreciate his fun-loving personality and help him continue learning good manners. If you’re looking for a goofy, affectionate adventure buddy who will keep you smiling and enjoys being part of the action, Pooch may be the perfect match!

⭐️ BEHAVIOR NOTES
Per staff 7/8/26: Kennel Presentation: Laying down against his kennel door when I approached. Stood up when I talked to him, loose mid tail wags, ears to the side. Took a treat very snatchy through the bars.
Leash Skills: Easy to leash and came right out. Walked pulling mildly, ears back, loose mid tail, stopped frequently to sniff. Outside would occasionally turn towards me and jump up on his hind legs, mid loose tail wags, ears forward. Then jump back down.
Sociability: Mainly sniffing around the yard, would come over when I called to him ears forward, soft eyes, loose mid tail wags. With handling, low loose tail, ears back then started to get jumpy, jumping up on me ears forward, mid tail wags, vocalized quickly then jumped down as I took a step back and returned to sniffing around. Very food motivated, tossing treats is best due to snatchyness. Was following around my treat pouch, tossing some treats redirected him. Attempted handling again, low to mid tail wags, ears back, loose body, slightly open mouth and tolerated it all. Moved away when I stopped.
Play: Would lightly mouth the toys when I held them, lost interest when I tossed them.
Dog Interaction: Met Ducky, good greetings, mid tail wags, interested in sniffing.
Return to Kennel: Walked back loose leash with the same body language as walking out. Hopped right into kennel and started drinking water. Waited till he finished to remove leash, tried to push back out of kennel, was able to remove leash and close the door.
Color Level: Blue
Playgroup 7/8/26: Loose mid to high tail wags at the fence, started teeth chattering. Steerable 4/5 with water and 2/5 with can. Interested in sniffing the other dogs, high loose tail wags, eventually moved away on his own and sniffed around the yard. Would go back and sniff the other dogs hind ends again.
Per staff 7/7/26: Pooch was easy to leash and walk through the kennels. We passed by another dog while in the vestibule to get outside. He showed excitement and let out some huffs but wasn't fixated on getting to her and very easily let them pass before we headed outside. Once outside, Pooch was intent on sniffing all the sniffs, and marking certain spots. He did not care to interact with me but was tolerant of some back pets. He was easy to walk back through the kennels and jumped in without an issue but did try getting back out.
Per finder 7/7/26: Chill with strangers, children and other animals, active on leash, and overall friendly, cuddly, shy, and playful
