Story
Meet JC, a bright-eyed 10 month old husky puppy who is ready to start his next chapter. This handsome little guy came to us as a stray, and while we may not know where he’s been, we know exactly where he’s headed, straight into someone’s heart. At just 35 pounds, JC is still filling out and could use a bit of extra love and care to help him grow into his best self. Like most puppies, everything in the world feels brand new and exciting to JC. New people, new dogs, new places, he is all in, every time. He greets life with a wagging tail and a playful bounce, always ready to make a new friend or chase after his next adventure. JC is looking for a home that will guide him as he learns, grows, and discovers what it means to be part of a family. With his fun-loving spirit and eager-to-please personality, he has all the makings of an incredible companion. All he needs now is someone to give him that fresh start he’s been waiting for. *Reminder* We are currently facilitating adoptions through appointment only. Story
Aurora, our 4 year old Husky, is as beautiful as the northern lights she is named for! She's full of energy and loves to play, especially when she gets the zoomies! Like most huskies, she is an independent girl and can be a little aloof at first- once she warms up to you her affectionate side will start to shine. Because she can a bit shy at first with strangers, we are recommending an adult only home with some dog experience. She would be a perfect match for an active person seeking an intelligent and spirited dog to go on adventures with- hiking buddy, anyone? If you're looking for a striking looking dog who will reward your love and patience with companionship and adventure, Aurora might be the one for you! Give us a call at 516-869-6311 or email us at animalshelter@northhempsteadny.gov to learn more. *Reminder* We are currently facilitating adoptions through appointment only. Story
CASTLE is a beautiful Husky mix who is just 1 year old and 46 pounds🐾 He's the kind of dog who is discovering how wonderful life can be, and it is honestly a joy to watch! This sweet & beautiful boy loves EVERY person he meets and greets new friends with a wagging tail and happy heart. He's living with an awesome Foster family and they share that he's dog-friendly, loves to play, and is learning more and more every day from his foster siblings. ✨ Castle's highlights: 🐶 Loves other dogs and enjoys playtime ❤️ Super friendly - Never met a stranger 👧 Does great with kids who have respectful dog manners 🚶 Excellent on leash 🚗 Great car rider 🍖 Food motivated and eager to learn 🎾 Starting to discover the fun of toys 🏡 Learning house manners and making great potty-training progress 🌙 Sleeps quietly through the night 🏃 Loves zooming around the yard Castle thrives with structure and routine. He loves knowing what's next—whether that's his morning walk, evening stroll, dinner time, or hanging out with his people. He's still figuring out a few things. TVs are a little weird. Jumping into the car isn't his favorite. And while he's allowed on the furniture, nobody told Castle that yet, so you'll usually find him curled up peacefully on the floor instead. 🥹 A home with another playful dog would be a huge bonus for Castle, but it's not a requirement. More than anything, he's looking for a family that will continue helping him build confidence, experience new things, and enjoy being a dog. Castle is so ready for a family of his own. One that will give him adventures, consistency, and all the love he deserves. ❤️ He's healthy and up to date on all his vaccinations. Are you ready to make Castle part of your kingdom? 👑🐾. Reach out to Long Road Home Rescue (lrhrescue@gmail.com) to get more info on. him and we can send you LOTS of video of him too.

Story
DAHLIA is a super sweet and fun 1 year old girlie who is fully grown at 45 pounds. She is the cutest medium sized girl who has the most amazing ears! They have a mind of their own as you'll see in her photos! Sometimes up, sometimes down & sometimes bent and wagging when she walks. :) We think she may be a Husky & Shepherd mix but may also have some Carolina Dog in her too. Only thing for sure is she's beautiful and a very good girl! Dahlia is a very happy girl with a sweet disposition. And, she's very smart....loves to learn and please her peeps. She's living with a Foster family in Islip (Long Island) and they share that she's playful, friendly, affectionate, quiet and super smart. They say she's a great blend of playful puppy energy and wanting to hang out with the family. She adores playing in the back yard, walks, belly rubs, and cuddles. She loves to do her zoomies in the backyard and go for nice long walks in the neighborhood. Whether she's trotting happily by your side or curling up at your feet, she brings fun and joy everywhere she goes. She gets along well with other dogs and everyone she meets. She loves making new friends, and would thrive in a home with an active family where she can be part of the daily fun and continue to learn and grow. We also think she'd love a fully fenced in yard so she can romp around and relax in the warm sunshine. Dahlia is so ready to join a family & learn whatever her new family wants to teach her. Reach out to Long Road Home Rescue (lrhrescue@gmail.com or call 516-459-3509) to get lots more info about this sweet girl and make plans to go meet her!
