Story
Leo is a 2-3 year old, 57 pound, husky mix.  He  is a fairly calm boy...though he will have the occasional puppy burst of energy.  Leo's will sit when you ask him to, and will gladly be your co-pilot when driving - he loves car rides and will jump right in the back seat and chill out for the trip.  He is friendly with people and dogs. Personality: friendly, affectionate, fairly calm, good in car Good with: people, and dogs.  No cats for Leo. Training: knows the command for 'sit' Estimated age: approximately 2-3 years old Weight: 57 pounds Medical: vetted, up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped Location: Currently located with a foster in Texas, but if adopted, will come to the NJ area on our next monthly transport.  Background: Like so many dogs, Leo's story is a sad one.  Leo spent the beginning of his life with a caring and loving owner who regularly took him to the vet and kept him inside (which is not typical for dogs in the south).  Unfortunately, Leo's owner had to move into a senior residence, so he entrusted a friend to care for his beloved dog.   Long story short, that "friend" kept Leo chained up outside without food and water.  He was so skinny when he was rescued .  He was brought to a kill shelter with a 3 day deadline for euthanasia.  Luckily we were able to pulled him out in the nick of time.  Once we had him seen by a vet we discovered that he was heartworm positive.  We paid for his treatments and are happy to announce that he is now heartworm free and he is a very happy and healthy boy!  He loves meeting new people and spreading joy like only a good boy like Leo can do!   We really want to find Leo a loving, stable home.  He must have been so confused, going from the love and safety of his original owner to being tied up and ignored outside. Story
Dixie is an 8-month-old husky mix that weighs approximately 25 lbs and has the brightest blue eyes you’ve ever seen! Dixie came to us in April 2026 on a rainy day when her and her mom were running all over the highway, darting traffic and unsure where to go. A good Samaritan saw them, did a U-Turn and got out in the pouring rain to try and coax them into her car. At first Dixie and her mom didn’t want to come, but the good Samaritan sat on the highway and offered them food until mom got close, and then Dixie got close. She was able to safely get both in her car and drive them home. The mom was a spaniel mix and was adopted! Dixie we do not believe will get very big as her mom only weighed 30 lbs full grown, and we do not know who dad was. Dixie is kennel trained and is learning commands. With some one on one time, she will master them in no time. She is VERY smart and eager to learn. She loves other dogs and is currently being fostered in a sanctuary along the Texas/Mexico border. This sanctuary is only a temporary place to house animals while we find them their forever homes. So small or big dogs, she gets along wonderfully with! Dixie is learning still to trust humans. She needs a home where her family is patient, understanding and gentle. Another dog in the home would really help Dixie come out of her shell. If no other dog in the home, at least a home that can offer play dates or even take her to doggy day care! She is learning to play with toys and loves them. Dixie is a gorgeous girl that deserves the best. Please consider adopting Dixie! Dixie is fixed (spayed/neutered), heart worm negative, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, current on flea/tick and heart worm prevention, microchipped, current on dewormer, and will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian prior to transport. To apply to adopt you can go to our website at: www.pawsitive-Impact-animal-rescue.org This animal is currently located in Texas, but we do NOT adopt animals out in Texas due to the hundreds of animals being euthanized here daily. We ONLY do adopt in Central US and the East Coast. The adoption fee listed ($525) INCLUDES transport from Texas to the location where this animal is posted in. Transport goes to the following locations every 2-3 weeks: (Certain areas vary depending on adopters in the area) Albany and Latham, NY Wells and Brattleboro, VT Willington, New Haven and Dayville, CT Port Chester, NY Dayton and Akron, OH Grove City and Bloomsburg, PA Ridgefield and Mt Laurel, NJ White Marsh/Elkton, MD Falls Church, VA We have happily adopted hundreds of animals this way (long distance), and we do our best to make sure the animal you are applying for is best fit for your home.

Story
Lobo is a stunning 2-year-old male husky that weighs approximately 56 lbs. Lobo came to us from the streets of south Texas. He was found roaming the streets of South Texas a few months ago, starving and missing half of his hair. You couldn’t even tell he was a husky. Thankfully, a sanctuary had room and took him in. It took some time to get Lobo better as he had multiple skin infections he had to battle – but now Lobo is much better and on the prowl for the perfect home! This awesome boy absolutely loves other dogs; big and small. He is currently being fostered in a sanctuary in south Texas, along the Texas/Mexico border. This amazing sanctuary is only a short term stop for this fur-baby until their forever home is found. He has the most gorgeous sky-blue eyes that just stop you in your tracks. Lobo loves to have conversations with anyone and everyone. He just talks up a storm every chance he gets. If you’re bored, Lobo will be the one to brighten your day up. He is mildly active – he loves to go outside and run around, but he loves just as much to come inside (to the AC of course!) and just relax. When it’s nice outside, he enjoys sunbathing and laying out. Lobo would do best with someone that loves the outdoors and Lobo loves them too. He loves to spend time with his person, not just be left alone. When he comes inside, he comes right next to you and cuddles up. Lobo is very loyal. He is crate trained and knows the word “kennel” when said to him. With some consistency and patience, he will easily learn other commands. He is too smart for his own good. Lobo enjoys car rides! While he is vocal, he is the biggest sweetheart. He welcomes strangers with open paws, and a few kind words. If you think you can give Lobo the best home he deserves, please consider filling out an application. Lobo is fixed (spayed/neutered), heart worm positive (they have received the 30-day course of antibiotics and need to stay on heart worm prevention for 12-16 months and be retested then), current on age-appropriate vaccinations, current on flea/tick and heart worm prevention, microchipped, current on de-wormer, and will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian prior to transport. Story
Luke!!! Luke Duke came into the A.M.O.R. rescue while still in the womb of his Siberian Husky momma! His momma was an owner surrender in another rescue and was adopted. But then it was realized that momma was pregnant. And was two weeks away from giving birth. Momma's adopter patiently waited for 9weeks until the babies were ready and weaned from momma. Luke is super cute and very cuddly and so sweet and very goofy.....EVERYTHING you love in a puppy! His favorite hobby is hanging out and being CHILL. HE LOVES to be PETTED!!! He is also learning the word NO. He understands that some things are a NO NO such as wanting to jump on my legs. He wants to please so much; so that makes him a VERY FAST LEARNER to no jumping on legs. Luke also LOVES to just hang out in the backyard. He definitely doesn't mind having some "ME" time there all by himself. At times, we literally have to go and leash him and walk him inside! He just nonchalantly walks right by our side and comes inside even though he didn't want to! He is also learning all about naps and being kenneled and potty training. He is learning that there is a schedule to the day. Wake up, and go pee and poo outside at 8:30am. Then it is play time. Then eat some breakfast kibble. Then we poop again. Then it is more play time. Back inside for a nap by 10am. Then it is outside again from 1-3pm for a pee/poo/play. A small snack at that time is had. And back in kennel for another nap at 3pm. Up and outside again at 6-8pm for pee/poo/play. Kibble Dinner is at 6:30pm. Lots of hard puppy playing happens from 6-8:30pm. The last nap of day happens from 8:30-10pm. And then the last pee/poo/play break happens from 10-11pm. Bedtime is by 11pm. Luke sleeps the whole night through and no longer makes a mess in his kennel. If he ever needs to potty while in his kennel, he is quick to whine and bark a bit to let us know that he has to potty and needs out SOOOOON!!! He is a very SMART boy to know that we don't pee/poo where we sleep! But, as a puppy, he will still need training in this aspect for the first year of his life. And even though Luke does VERY WELL on leash when being brought outside to his kennel inside, he will still need his family to work with on being leash trained on longer walks. Luke is certainly ready to be in his own home. Are you ready for the smart and cute as a button Luke Duke? All of Luke's vetting has been done by my personal dogs' vet. The following is a list of what has been done for him... NEUTERED All 4 - DA2PP shots (Distemper, Adenovirus Type 2 (Hepatitis), Parvo, and Parainfluenza) Bordatella shot Bordatella booster shot - 6months Rabies shot Dewormed Tested, Treated (if needed), and retested for giardia and coccidia Heartworm Negative Iverhart heartworm preventative Simparica fleas and ticks preventative Chipped There are two categories of vaccines: “core” vaccines that are recommended for all pets, and “non-core vaccines” which may be recommended by your vet based on lifestyle and exposure risk. The core vaccine for dogs is the Rabies vaccine, which is required by law. The second core vaccine for dogs is often referred to as the DA2PP or DHPP vaccine. This stands for “Distemper, Adenovirus Type 2 (Hepatitis), Parvo, and Parainfluenza”, meaning that this vaccine protects against FOUR different diseases. It is especially important for puppies to begin a series of DA2PP vaccines at six to eight weeks of age, as natural immunity obtained from the mother decreases and puppies become very susceptible to potentially life-threatening diseases such as Canine Parvovirus (Parvo). Parvo is transmitted through feces and can remain in the environment for at least one month, and up to a year if the conditions are right. This means that puppies do not need to be directly exposed to another dog that has Parvo in order to contract the disease, and caution is advised when choosing where and how to socialize and exercise your pup. We recommend avoiding exposure to unknown dogs or public places until your puppy has finished their vaccine series. BUT, all A.M.O.R. puppies (1 year old and less) have all FOUR shots. They are safe to join you and your family on your outdoor adventures and you can rest at ease. Non-core vaccines for dogs include Bordetella, Influenza, Leptospirosis and Lyme. The Bordetella (aka: Kennel Cough) help to prevent highly-contagious respiratory diseases, and are essential for dogs that may be exposed to other dogs, especially in group settings such as dog parks, daycare, or boarding facilities. All A.M.O.R. dogs and puppies are given a Bordatella vaccine. Bordatella boosters are given every 6 months. https://www.thedrakecenter.com/services/dogs/parasites/deworming-dogs The above link is to provide you information regarding why deworming is so important for all dogs of all ages (and for their families). All A.M.O.R.s are dewormed upon entering the rescue and then again 5 days before their health certificate visit (when they have been adopted and ready to travel). This dewormer is issued per our vet. And all pets are tested, treated (if needed), and retested for coccidia and giardia. A.M.O.R. provides you with this information so that you can be aware of the work and love that is given to each pet. Each puppy has visited the vet AT LEAST 5 times during their stay with us. They have seen the vet 4 times for their shots and will see the vet 1-2 more times prior to transport in order to obtain a health certificate for travel. Adult dogs have seen the vet AT LEAST 3 times. Two visits for their shots and 1-2 visits prior to transport in order to obtain a health certificate. Are you ready to have a wonderful time and to give Luke lots of belly rubs?? All animals receive a health certificate (stating that a licensed veterinarian saw the pet and deemed it healthy for travel, but is not a promise of perfect health). Please email for an A.M.O.R. application in order to be considered. Please note: this pet is located out of state.
