Story
Meet Oggie Doggie, a precious 3.5-month-old Husky/Lab mix with the sweetest heart. This little girl was found on the side of the highway alongside her mama and sister - a very dangerous situation and definitely not a place for a helpless puppy. Oggie is incredibly affectionate and absolutely adores everyone - kids, cats, dogs... She loves attention, cuddles, and making new friends wherever she goes. With her adorable face and playful personality, she's impossible not to fall in love with. Look at those eyes! Like any young puppy, Oggie is still learning the ropes and is not yet potty trained, but she's smart, eager to please, and ready to learn with a patient family by her side. She is hoping her next chapter is one filled with love, safety, and a family of her own.

Story
Maybel — short for Maybelline — is a stunning 10-month-old girl with the most striking blue eyes that look like she’s wearing perfect eyeliner all the time. At around 50 pounds, she’s the perfect mix of playful puppy energy and sweet, affectionate companionship. She’s incredibly smart, eager to learn, and already doing wonderfully with potty training and leash training. Maybel is great with other dogs and has such a loving, gentle personality once she feels safe and comfortable. Like many rescue dogs, she can be a little hesitant around men at first, but with patience and kindness she quickly begins to open up and show her sweet, goofy side. Maybel is looking for a family that will continue helping her build confidence and show her that the world can be a safe, loving place. In return, she’ll give endless loyalty, cuddles, and those unforgettable blue-eyed stares.

Story
CASTLE is a beautiful Husky mix who is just 1 year old and 46 pounds🐾 He's the kind of dog who is discovering how wonderful life can be, and it is honestly a joy to watch! This sweet & beautiful boy loves EVERY person he meets and greets new friends with a wagging tail and happy heart. He's living with an awesome Foster family and they share that he's dog-friendly, loves to play, and is learning more and more every day from his foster siblings. ✨ Castle's highlights: 🐶 Loves other dogs and enjoys playtime ❤️ Super friendly - Never met a stranger 👧 Does great with kids who have respectful dog manners 🚶 Excellent on leash 🚗 Great car rider 🍖 Food motivated and eager to learn 🎾 Starting to discover the fun of toys 🏡 Learning house manners and making great potty-training progress 🌙 Sleeps quietly through the night 🏃 Loves zooming around the yard Castle thrives with structure and routine. He loves knowing what's next—whether that's his morning walk, evening stroll, dinner time, or hanging out with his people. He's still figuring out a few things. TVs are a little weird. Jumping into the car isn't his favorite. And while he's allowed on the furniture, nobody told Castle that yet, so you'll usually find him curled up peacefully on the floor instead. 🥹 A home with another playful dog would be a huge bonus for Castle, but it's not a requirement. More than anything, he's looking for a family that will continue helping him build confidence, experience new things, and enjoy being a dog. Castle is so ready for a family of his own. One that will give him adventures, consistency, and all the love he deserves. ❤️ He's healthy and up to date on all his vaccinations. Are you ready to make Castle part of your kingdom? 👑🐾. Reach out to Long Road Home Rescue (lrhrescue@gmail.com) to get more info on. him and we can send you LOTS of video of him too.

Story
Meet JC, a bright-eyed 10 month old husky puppy who is ready to start his next chapter. This handsome little guy came to us as a stray, and while we may not know where he’s been, we know exactly where he’s headed, straight into someone’s heart. At just 35 pounds, JC is still filling out and could use a bit of extra love and care to help him grow into his best self. Like most puppies, everything in the world feels brand new and exciting to JC. New people, new dogs, new places, he is all in, every time. He greets life with a wagging tail and a playful bounce, always ready to make a new friend or chase after his next adventure. JC is looking for a home that will guide him as he learns, grows, and discovers what it means to be part of a family. With his fun-loving spirit and eager-to-please personality, he has all the makings of an incredible companion. All he needs now is someone to give him that fresh start he’s been waiting for. *Reminder* We are currently facilitating adoptions through appointment only. Story
Aurora, our 4 year old Husky, is as beautiful as the northern lights she is named for! She's full of energy and loves to play, especially when she gets the zoomies! Like most huskies, she is an independent girl and can be a little aloof at first- once she warms up to you her affectionate side will start to shine. Because she can a bit shy at first with strangers, we are recommending an adult only home with some dog experience. She would be a perfect match for an active person seeking an intelligent and spirited dog to go on adventures with- hiking buddy, anyone? If you're looking for a striking looking dog who will reward your love and patience with companionship and adventure, Aurora might be the one for you! Give us a call at 516-869-6311 or email us at animalshelter@northhempsteadny.gov to learn more. *Reminder* We are currently facilitating adoptions through appointment only.
