Story
Beautiful Coco is a 2 year old Husky/Chow Chow mix that was surrendered due to family members having allergies. She has a typical personality of the two breeds- energetic and fun but can be aloof and independent. She does enjoy short petting sessions and will rub on your legs like a cat! Coco lived with another small dog in her house but seems to be choosy at the shelter when meeting new dogs- a meeting with any other dogs in the house is required during the adoption appointment. Coco, like most huskies, has a prey drive and should not live with cats or other small pets in the home. If you are in a home with a yard we are requiring a fully secured 6 foot fence. Please call the shelter at 516-869-6311 or email us at animalshelter@northhempsteadny.gov for more information. *Reminder* We are currently facilitating adoptions through appointment only. If you arrive at the shelter without an appointment to meet a dog, we may not be able to assist you. Please call the shelter (516-869-6311) during working hours (Mon. to Fri. 9AM-4PM; Sat. 10AM-4PM) for more information about this dog, the adoption process at the shelter, and to confirm availability. This is a Courtesy Listing and has no affiliation with Petrescue. Please contact the owner listed below directly. Jackson and Mischief are two very beautiful/handsome dogs. Unfortunately the kids in their present family have developed allergies and both dogs must find new forever homes, not necessarily together. Jackson is an 8 year old, 65 lb male, neutered Catahoula mix. He is a very cuddly, sweet family dog (good with kids). He loves being outside and enjoys his walks. He is a very mellow guy, and does well with other dogs. Mischief is a 9 year old, 68 lb pure bred, spayed Husky, She is a typical vocal husky, who loves to go on walks and be outside. She is an affectionate girl and enjoys being petted. She does well with dogs her size and is good with kids. They are both healthy dogs with no medical issues...are both leash trained, and are good with adults and children. If you are interested in either or both of these dogs, please contact nessysalz0210@aol.com

Story
Hi, my name is Dolly and I am a pretty Husky/Shepherd mix with one blue eye, about 3 years old, 42 lbs, and I was recently a mama dog, living in a little “den” underneath the side of a vacant house with my litter of puppies. Nobody cared for weeks until freezing weather was upon us and when someone tried to save us all, I was too scared to go so they just took my puppies. I was heartbroken for days, crying and whimpering, sleeping outside in the freezing cold until a dog rescue earned my trust just enough to catch me. Fast forward a couple of months and I have been living in a foster home, finally able to put the past behind me and start having some fun again playing with the resident dogs. I am a happy and loving girl with lots of energy for any activity, running, hiking, playing, whatever, and if I could play all day long with dogs or humans, I probably would. I’m good with people, shy at first, but I warm up quickly. I’m the submissive type with other dogs, but love to play with them and I make a very nice playmate and accept correction well from humans or dogs. I love all doggy toys, but the chew bones are my favorite. I’m very sweet and very affectionate, love being petted, and sharing doggy kisses. My foster mom says I would be amazing in agility training because I am fast and can run loops around the resident dogs during playtime. If you are an outdoor enthusiast looking for a canine companion who is exceptionally sweet and loyal with plenty of energy and enthusiasm for any activity, you’ve just hit the jackpot and found me! I will be moving to Connecticut for a much better life and lifestyle, and being part husky I’m already built for the snow, hint-hint! * 4 Little Paws is based in CT. We adopt in many different states along the East Coast. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. If you are located outside the states we typically adopt to, we have options to get the dog of your dreams to your location.
