Story
Hello there friends, my name is Denali! I'm a 2 year old, 55lbs., spayed female Labrador Retriever mix. I'm energy, affection and pure goofiness combined into one perfect package. If you are looking for activity and fun with a little hard work thrown into the mix then look no further because here I am. I am still working on my doggy skills and would do best with a family with kids 10+ that has worked with energetic and reactive dogs like me before. I would love to meet you all as I'm fantastic at making human friends so please stop on by and say hi. Denali ID# A987227Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.  You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by. Drop-In hours for Same Day Adoptions are 11 am – 5 pm, 7 days a week (closed major holidays). Story
*Note: Mellow is currently in Korea but will be flying to LA once adopted. To learn more about Mellow or to submit an adoption application, please click here.BackgroundMellow was rescued from an industrial area near a factory in Paju, Korea, in June 2024. He had been roaming the streets, searching for food and trying to survive on his own. After his rescue, he lived at another local shelter for 1.5 years. Earlier this spring, he was transferred to our partner boarding house, where he has been patiently waiting for a family to call his own. He lives happily with other dogs and has been a wonderful addition since the day he arrived.Personality and SocializationMellow is a gentle, affectionate boy with a sweet and easygoing personality. He may be a little shy when meeting someone for the first time, but it doesn’t take long before his friendly nature shines through. Once he feels comfortable, he loves attention and happily shares his affectionate side with the people around him.He has a medium energy level and enjoys a nice balance of walks, playtime, and relaxing with his people. Mellow, just as his name suggests, is friendly with both men and women and truly enjoys being around people.Mellow gets along very well with other dogs and has a calm, respectful play style. He especially enjoys the company of polite, gentle dogs and is happy to quietly coexist or play when invited. He has not yet been tested with cats or young children. However, based on his gentle and friendly temperament, we believe he would likely do well with slow, thoughtful introductions.BehavioursMellow is a well-mannered and easy dog to live with. He prefers to do his business outdoors and enjoys his daily walks. He rides well in the car, behaves calmly during veterinary visits and bath time, and walks nicely on leash. He has not shown any destructive behaviours, rarely barks, and is expected to adjust well to being left alone for reasonable periods. Overall, Mellow has a stable, relaxed personality that makes him an enjoyable companion for everyday life.Health and DietMellow is neutered, fully vaccinated up to date, microchipped, dewormed, and receives regular parasite prevention. After his rescue, Mellow was treated for Babesia, a tick-borne disease. He completed his treatment successfully, made a full recovery, and is now healthy and ready for his forever home. He has no known allergies and eats dry kibble twice a day with a healthy appetite.Ideal HomeMellow would thrive in a loving home where he can continue building his confidence and enjoy life as a cherished family member. A home with another calm, friendly dog would be wonderful for him, and he would especially enjoy a family where someone is home much of the day, such as a retiree or someone who works from home. With his gentle heart, easygoing nature, and affectionate personality, Mellow is the kind of companion who fits naturally into many homes. He is ready to leave his past behind and begin a future filled with love, comfort, and the forever family he has been waiting for.*Note: Mellow is currently in Korea but will be flying to LA once adopted. To learn more about Mellow or to submit an adoption application, please click here.

Story
Rose, Spayed female, 5-months-old, 28-lbs If you would like to give Rose a forever home, please contact abetterchancerescue@gmail.com OR log onto abetterchancerescue.org to fill out online application Rose is a super sweet young pup with charming personality. She is lively and affectionate, but can be stable and well behaved if commanded so; a perfect pup that is loved by everyone in her foster family. Rose is quiet and heeds orders, never got into fight with others for food or toys, she’s also an excellent walking companion. Like any young pups, she’s very food motivated, playful and enjoys the company of other dogs, and stays calm around cats. She’s loving by nature, responds to recall very well; she’s potty trained to go outside, also crate trained to sleep overnight; not a barker or chewer when inside the house. Rose being young and playful, she will do best for family looking for a companion pet, or sibling to the existing family dog. About Rose’s rescue: Rose and her three siblings were found cuddling in a box set at the corner of a rundown shed in the suburb. Facing the imminent storm, the rescuer had no choice but to take the pups in and find sheltering homes for them. Rose is full of curiosity and is easy to approach with food. She is friendly and follows command well. She can be easily recalled when running in the park. Rose will be a wonderful companion to a dog loving family! Story
Dolly, spayed female, 3y-5-m-old, 44-lbs If you would like to give DOLLY a forever home, please contact abetterchancerescue@gmail.com OR log onto abetterchancerescue.org to fill out online application Dolly has an easy-going temperament, very playful and lively. She loves people and is sociable around other dogs and stays calm when meeting cats. She is potty trained and crate trained to sleep overnight; not a chewer or barker. Dolly is most suitable for an outdoor loving family, and/or as an addition to family with dog. Dolly’s rescue story: Driving home during a stormy night, the rescuer spotted a dark moving object in-between the traffic lanes. When she stopped her car to check it out, she found Dolly moving toward her slowly, wagging her tail. She didn’t seem injured but apparently had difficulty moving. Dolly followed the rescuer to her car and off to the hospital they went. The doctor’s diagnostic was that Dolly simply suffered from starvation. Under the care of her foster family, Dolly regained her hearth and received proper training. But being a dog with black color coat has hardly any chance to be adopted by local people. Hopefully Dolly can start her new life aboard.
