Story
Canine Good Citizen Program Awhoooo! I'm Emilio! I'm a 2 year old, neutered male, 60 pound Chocolate Lab/Pit Bull mix and I'm excited to meet you! I'm a very affectionate boy but I can come on a bit strong. It's only because I'm so stoked to see you! I love giving hugs and will try to sit on you. I'm as cuddling and huggable as can be! I also love to run, sniff, jump -- and did I mention jumping?! I'm super great at it. My buddies here at PHS tell me there are times jumping is not appreciated, and I'm doing my best to learn manners. My ideal home will be with adults only who are ready to devote lots of time and energy giving me love, training and exercise. I would do best in a home where I am the only pup for now. Since I'm not always sure who I can give high fives to, I would do best in a home with adults only. I can't wait to be your forever faithful adventure buddy! Emilio ID# A931862 I recently went on a field trip with my favorite volunteer. This is what they had to say about our day together:  Perfect!! Overall he was AMAZINGG. I had him in my house and in my backyard and he wasn’t all over the place or jumpy or anything he was really good, honestly just stayed near me and explored at the same time, whenever I’d call him he’d follow me. He was attached to this random cat toy that was in my backyard and he sunbathed for a chunk of the time. When I picked him up from the shelter, he was anxious for the first 30 mins in the car. He did much better on our car ride back to the shelter. He jumped in perfectly fine and was good in the car, not anxious at all.     The AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program provides a perfect framework for training a dog to become a polite member of society! I am on track to get CGC certificate! In order to pass I have been training hard to master the following 10 items: Politely greet strangers. Sitting politely for petting. Accepting of grooming. Good manners on walks. Walking through a crowd politely. Sit and down on cue and staying in place. Coming when called. Not reacting to another dog while on walks. Does not react to distractions. Waits patiently when separated from owner.       Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010. Story
Hello, my name is Sanford and I'm an 11 month old, neutered, lab mix that currently weighs about 82lbs! I'm a big boy that's still learning about the world around me. I'm hoping for a loving and patient family that will help me 'learn how to dog'. I'm still working on my training and social skills, but I'm a total sweetheart with my favorite people! I enjoy walks when I have time to observe and explore everything! I'm a curious guy that wants to learn as much as I can about anything and everything around me. If I sound like the perfect dog for you, just ask Customer Service about Sanford!  ID# A943925Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010. Story
Hi there, I'm Bella Mae! I'm a 1 an a half year old, 56 lbs., spayed female Lab mix. I'm the sweetest girl in the world; I love to say hi to the nice humans I meet and am a great player of the game of fetch (when I remember to bring the ball back). I'm still pretty unsure about meeting other dogs and will need the help of my new family with practicing that. I'm working on my overall manners and making great progress! The volunteers here say I have a polite 'sit' and a very nice 'watch me'. While I continue working on my manners it would be best if I went home with a family with kids that are 10 years or older. I would love to meet the whole household before going home including any resident dogs. Story
Dolly, spayed female, 3y-5-m-old, 44-lbs If you would like to give DOLLY a forever home, please contact abetterchancerescue@gmail.com OR log onto abetterchancerescue.org to fill out online application Dolly has an easy-going temperament, very playful and lively. She loves people and is sociable around other dogs and stays calm when meeting cats. She is potty trained and crate trained to sleep overnight; not a chewer or barker. Dolly is most suitable for an outdoor loving family, and/or as an addition to family with dog. Dolly’s rescue story: Driving home during a stormy night, the rescuer spotted a dark moving object in-between the traffic lanes. When she stopped her car to check it out, she found Dolly moving toward her slowly, wagging her tail. She didn’t seem injured but apparently had difficulty moving. Dolly followed the rescuer to her car and off to the hospital they went. The doctor’s diagnostic was that Dolly simply suffered from starvation. Under the care of her foster family, Dolly regained her hearth and received proper training. But being a dog with black color coat has hardly any chance to be adopted by local people. Hopefully Dolly can start her new life aboard. Story
Dora, spayed female, 1year-10months-old, 32-lbs If you would like to give DORA a forever home, please contact abetterchancerescue@gmail.com OR log onto abetterchancerescue.org to fill out online application About Dora: Dora has a mild and stable temperament. She is well behaved: no excess barking, stays calm and sleeps overnight in her crate; she is also an excellent walking companion! Dora is very playful, children and adults alike, as well as other dogs and cats. She is very food motivated, loves chew toys; and enjoys keeping her humans company. Once she even comforted another dog while being treated in the hospital! She is an absolute sweetie you would not want to miss! About Dora’s rescue: In south eastern Taiwan, near the coastal region, where the villagers are very much into worshiping the local goddess, but most of them are short in the knowledge about animal welfare, let alone caring for them. Unfortunately, Dora and her nine siblings were born in this area. As the volunteers were overwhelmed with the number of strays to be cared for, rescuer’s help was sought. When Dora was taken over by the rescuer, she was only two months old. She was severely malnourished. But she’s also one of the luckier ones to be raised by a foster family. Story
Millie, spayed female, 9-months-old, 31-lbs If you would like to give MILLIE a forever home, please contact abetterchancerescue@gmail.com OR log onto abetterchancerescue.org to fill out online application Millie is smart and lively, enjoys outdoor activities; full of puppy energy, like the average young pups. She is loving by nature and aimed to please, can easily adapt to new environment. She is well behaved around adults and kids, also good with other dogs and cats. She follows direction well, and never got into fight for food or toy. She is potty trained and crate trained to sleep overnight. With some basic training, she will become a great family pet and the best walking companion. About Millie’s rescue: Millie was spotted wandering on the streets. A good looking, clean and young one, she was probably deserted by her owner not too long ago. She was at the onset of puberty, it is urgent to have this young girl neutered. When the rescuer was notified, she acted right away, lest she drifted away. Millie was taken to the vet first; no chip was found on her. She was examined by the vet, and got neutered. Millie is a beautiful and healthy young pup. She was placed with a loving foster home while waiting for her forever home!
