"Hello! I'm Anya, a spirited and lovable 8.5-month-old Labrador Retriever/Wirehaired Terrier mix, tipping the scales at about 25 pounds. With a striking black, white, and grey coat, I'm almost fully grown (will be the perfect medium size) but still have all the charming energy of a puppy.
I’ve been in foster care for *144 days* now, watching my siblings find their forever homes one by one. I wonder sometimes if my sleek black coat makes me hard to spot in photos, but I know there’s a family out there who will see just how special I am. Despite loving my foster life—complete with cuddles and the best belly rubs—I’m yearning for a forever family to give all my love to.
My foster mom tells me I'm a sweetheart, and I love to prove her right by snuggling in her lap and showering her with puppy kisses. When I'm not cuddling, you'll find me zipping around with my canine pals, flaunting my playful zoomies. I can be a bit shy initially, but having another dog around always helps me open up and share my fun-loving nature. My ideal home would be one with another dog so my personality can truly shine.
I have a passion for squeaky toys and am proud to say I’m doing great with my manners—I’m housebroken, walk nicely on a leash, and am comfortable in my crate. I'm eager to learn new things and can't wait to impress my future family with my smarts.

HFG Dog Rescue is a 100 percent foster-based rescue located in Berkeley Heights, NJ with a sister location, The Almost Home Wellness Center, in Aiken, SC. All of our dogs are rescued from kill shelters in SC + GA and once ready for adoption live in loving local NJ foster homes until they find forever families of their own. Our fosters begin basic training, housebreaking, and leash-walking skills to help pair you with the perfect pup for life!
