We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 100-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.-Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Story
We adopted Bella when she was a tiny pup. She is now eight months old. My grandson has allergies that caused us to leave her outside a lot. The neighbors complain and I think it would be best for her to find a nice home. The $300 fee is simply to cover the shots and chip. Bella comes with a free harness and toys. I also have a crate available if needed.

Older Energy Level: High Adoption Fee: $320.00 Any other info: Meet Lady Rainicorn: A Tiny Treasure Looking for Love Lady Rainicorn is a small, beautiful 2 year old pup with a personality as unique as her name. She’s a striking black beauty with a snowy white chest and paws, a dazzling smile, and the most charming ears with one folded and one standing tall that make her totally unforgettable. At just under 20 pounds, she’s the perfect size for snuggles and companionship. Though she’s incredibly sweet, Lady Rainicorn can be nervous when meeting new people. She needs a little patience to feel safe, but once she trusts you, her loving nature shines through. She may be a bit mouthy when anxious, so she’s looking for a home without young children where she can relax and thrive. This darling girl dreams of a forever family to call her own. A place where she can spend the holidays curled up in warmth and continue to grow in confidence for the rest of her life. She is 2 years old, spayed, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, heartworm tested negative, and kept on prevention here with us. Story
I am looking for a loving home for my two dogs, Guinness and Nash who are black 1/2 lab / 1/2 golden retrievers, due to an upcoming move that does not allow dogs in my new home. They will be three years old on 1/21/2026 and it is my hope to keep them together as that's all they have ever known and play and entertain each other and are best friends. Both Guinness and Nash have never shown any aggression to anyone, and are great with other dogs at the dog park, kids of any age, strangers or cats (they have lived with cats before - never any problems). They love everyone they come into contact with, and seek out enjoy human touch and interaction for petting, snuggling and certainly playing. Both dogs are crate trained and house trained, and do not have any special dietary restrictions. They enjoy running, playing, fetch, swimming, lounging and attention from each other, other dogs, and humans. They are great pets in every way.

Story
Hudson is a 5 month old (born 8/4/25) pure bread black lab, 60 pounds already. We got him from a breeder in September and he’s been the sweetest boy ever since. He’s fully house trained, knows sit, paw and is mostly to lay down. He loves the outdoors, his chew toys and his stuffys. He has been raised so far with a very handsy 4 year old and a 2 year old, he’s very gentle and tolerant with both kids. He also goes to doggy daycare once a week to socialize with other dogs and loves playing with other dogs! He has never lived with another fur friend though so that might require a trial period. We do believe he has a chicken allergy so please be aware of that limitation on treats and food. Our son is special needs and requires a lot of attention, unfortunately we think it’s best for him to be in a pet free home. Hudson is an amazing dog. * It says that it’s required to get him fixed 30 days after adoption, he is not old enough, I can’t get that taken down*

Story
Sally, Mimi and Magic were all found in the summer at an abandoned house. Sally and Mimi are almost identical, except Mimi has whiter on her. Magic looks to have had a different father that had some hound in him. They are all bonded to each other but can be adopted separately. However, if someone wanted to adopt more than one, I would recommend Sally and Mimi. Magic is a bit more independent. Sally is the leader of the bunch and the most outgoing, silly and fun and loves belly rubs. I would say they are for the most part house trained. There has been only one accident in the house from the three of them in three months, but they spend a lot of time outdoors. An adapter would need to know that they were definitely may need some close supervision in the house at first. These dogs are being fostered in the south but included in your adoption fee is transport to a location near you by Rescue Riders Pet Transport, the most animal-friendly transport on the road.
