**COURTESY REHOMING POST** Toa is not a CACC dog. We have not met him nor evaluated him and can't attest to his health or temperament. Please use the contact information listed to reach out and learn more. Tao, a part of our CACC Courtesy Rehoming Program, is a 2-year-9-month-old pup looking for a special kind of home—one filled with patience, understanding, and a heart willing to help him feel safe. Though he was loved by his previous family, they could no longer care for him, and he now needs someone who truly understands very shy dogs.Tao is naturally cautious around new people and situations. When he feels overwhelmed or insecure, he may react defensively, so he needs a steady, experienced person who can recognize his boundaries and gently guide him toward confidence. Tao may not be the kind of dog who thrives in every situation, but he is the kind of dog who will deeply bond with the right person. If you have the experience and heart to help this little soul find security and love, Tao is waiting for you. For more information on Tao, please email glxssy.naia@gmail.com

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, May 31st from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $650   Meet Duncan – the silver fox of your dreams, freshly groomed and ready to dazzle!   Duncan is a 9 year old Maltese-Poodle mix who just got a fresh shave so his signature luscious, long locks can grow back in all their glory. Don’t let the short 'do fool you—it’s temporary, and underneath it all is a future fluffy superstar. As a non-shedding dog, Duncan is a great option for allergy-sensitive households. And with Malti-Poos often living well into their late teens (16, 17, even 18!), Duncan is just hitting his stride in midlife—think cruise control with occasional bursts of puppy playfulness.   Duncan came to us when another rescue was out of space, and he trotted right into our arms like he knew he’d found his people. At 12 pounds, he’s the perfect size for lap lounging, couch cuddling, and light adventuring. He’s a happy little guy with a spring in his step and a heart full of love. His favorite things? Following you around the house, sunbathing in the backyard, and curling up for a TV marathon with his humans. He’s a fabulous work-from-home buddy who’s just as content chilling quietly as he is heading out for a walk or a romp with a doggy friend.   Duncan has an easygoing daily rhythm—snoozing in until 8am, greeting the morning with tail wags, and heading out for potty time before breakfast. He spends the day lounging near his people, collecting snuggles, enjoying a few tasty treats, and sneaking in an afternoon stroll or backyard sun session. By evening, he’s a certified lap warmer, winding down with you until it’s time to head off to bed.   He’s house trained and crate trained, walks beautifully on a leash, and has lived happily with other dogs. Duncan is a perfect match for just about any home—first-time dog families or seasoned pet parents alike. Kids should be 5 or older to ensure everyone respects his chill vibe.   If you’re looking for a sweet, soulful companion with just the right amount of pep, Duncan is ready to be your loyal sidekick. He may be nine, but he’s living proof that midlife is when the magic really begins. Come meet your next best friend—Duncan’s waiting!  June 2, 2025, 5:46 pm

This 2 year old Maltipoo came to us from the shelter a matted mess, but thanks to a stellar grooming job, he’s now living up to his name: polished, perky, and ready to spark joy in his forever home.   From Day 1, Firecracker made himself at home—literally jumping into bed that first night and declaring himself a full-time snuggler. He wakes up bright and early (around 6am) with the pack (he's fostered with two other dogs), has breakfast, and then happily goes back to bed for a nap. On work-from-home days, he lounges near his foster mom’s feet, goes for walks, and plays with the resident dogs. When his foster is away at the office, he stays home with the pack and settles in just fine. Dinner is served between 4–6pm, and bedtime means cozying up in the human bed— right where he wants to be.   Personality-wise? Firecracker is the perfect combo of playful and cuddly. He adores his humans and wants to be near you at all times. He’s got that “Velcro dog” energy, always ready to play, explore the yard, or snuggle up. He’s pals with the two resident dogs— especially the younger one who matches his energy— and even the senior pup has shared his sacred dog bed with Firecracker (a rare honor!). He’s never shown aggression toward other dogs on walks and enjoys being part of a pack.   But as with any firecracker, you’ll want to be aware of the sparks: He’s got opinions, and he shares them - if he hears noises outside, he'll let you know. He gets very excited around new people, so introductions should be calm and structured. He’s still working on potty training. And don’t leave the front door open—he’s a potential escape artist!   Firecracker LOVES walks (seriously, he practically levitates when the leash comes out), though he does pull a bit (all 12 lb of him!). He’s food-motivated, eager to please, and responds well to gentle correction. He already knows to go outside for potty breaks and could be fully house-trained with continued routine and attention.   His ideal home? A dog-savvy adopter, older kids or adults, and someone who’s ready to love, train, and snuggle. He’d be great with other playful dogs or as a solo pup soaking up all the attention.   Why adopt Firecracker? Because this little guy just wants to be loved. He’s affectionate, loyal, and full of personality. Whether he’s napping under your desk or trotting beside you on a walk, he’ll remind you daily what joy looks like in dog form.   Firecracker is tiny, but his heart is HUGE—and he's ready to light up your life.                  June 4, 2025, 4:06 pm

If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered. Adoption Fee: $550 Breed: Maltese–Shih Tzu mix Age: 5 years old Weight: ~14 lbs Coat: Non-shedding Her name may be Kitten, but this 5 year old Maltese–Shih Tzu mix is 100% dog—adorably fluffy, quietly loyal, and full of surprising little joys. She was rescued from the shelter, and after a slow, careful start, she’s been blossoming into the kind of dog who makes your heart swell with every small step forward. Kitten is a gentle soul who takes her time to trust, but once she does, she becomes a loyal little shadow—especially to her favorite humans. In her current foster home, she’s built a sweet and special bond with her 10-year-old human buddy, and the two have become a devoted fetch-playing duo. She’s also warming up to younger kids and has begun seeking pets and connection on her own terms. With the people she trusts, she is affectionate, playful, and full of personality. Her daily routine is peaceful and predictable—just how she likes it. She wakes up early and heads outside for a potty break, enjoys some morning playtime, then settles into her crate for a long nap. Mealtimes are relaxed, and she has plenty of quiet time in between spurts of play and affection. Evenings are her favorite, when she gets the zoomies and enthusiastically chases toys with her favorite girl. Kitten is house-trained, sleeps calmly in her crate, and communicates when she needs to go outside. She’s playful but not demanding, cuddly but not clingy. She’s still learning to feel safe around new people and visitors, and while she’s made great strides, she’ll always do best in a calm home where her people understand that some dogs need time to feel safe. While she’s making progress around other dogs (and can ignore them on leash in the yard), she’s not comfortable sharing her space with them and is protective of her pen. Kitten must be the only pet in her home. With professional support and time, she may eventually feel more neutral around dogs, but right now she needs a home where she can feel completely secure and not have to share her space or her people. Kitten’s ideal home is quiet, structured, and patient. She doesn’t need a lot—just someone who can offer routine, security, and a lot of love on her terms. She’s not a dog for someone expecting instant affection, but for the right person, she’s a deeply rewarding companion who offers a special kind of devotion. If you’re someone who finds beauty in the quiet moments, and joy in the slow unfolding of trust, Kitten may be the perfect match. She doesn’t need fireworks. She just needs someone to see her, to give her the space she needs, and to celebrate each step she takes toward love.    June 2, 2025, 3:41 am
