This darling 5 year old, 12 lb Maltese mix (with a non-shedding coat) came to us from a hoarding situation, but instead of letting his past define him, he's embracing each new experience with quiet curiosity, unwavering loyalty, and an endless supply of cuddles. Every day, Chauncey grows a little braver, and watching him discover how wonderful life can be is nothing short of magical.   A Gentle Soul Who Loves His People   If you're looking for a shadow with four paws, Chauncey may just be your perfect match. More than anything, he loves being close to his favorite humans. Whether you're working at your desk, watching television, reading a book, or relaxing after a long day, Chauncey is happiest curled up beside you— or even better, tucked into your lap.   He's affectionate without being demanding, content to quietly nap under your arm or rest beside you while you go about your day. His foster says that no matter how stressful the day has been, Chauncey is always there, ready to offer comfort with a cuddle.   Smart, Curious, and Ready to Learn   Despite his difficult past, Chauncey is eager to experience the world. He approaches new places with cautious curiosity, taking everything in through careful observation and plenty of sniffing. Whether he's exploring the neighborhood, visiting a quiet pet store, or checking out a new walking trail, he wants to see what life has to offer— especially if his favorite person is by his side.   He's also incredibly food motivated, making training a breeze. Meals are often served in puzzle toys or snuffle mats because he genuinely enjoys using his brain. In foster care he's already learned 'up,' is making great progress with 'sit' and 'wait,' and absolutely lights up when treats are involved. You can practically see the wheels turning as he figures things out.   The Perfect Mix of Adventure and Couch Companion   Chauncey is wonderfully adaptable. He's happy to head out for a neighborhood stroll, ride along for errands, or simply spend the afternoon lounging nearby. His daily walks are a highlight, and he even does adorable little bunny hops when he's excited to head out.   When it's time to relax, though, he's all about snuggling. He's truly a go-with-the-flow companion who doesn't need constant entertainment—just the company of the people he loves.   A Social Butterfly in Training   Chauncey has made incredible progress learning that the world is a safe place. He warmed up surprisingly quickly in his foster home and has built wonderful relationships with the resident dog and even the household cats. At first he kept his distance, but now he happily follows his canine foster sibling around and has even been known to nap beside the cats.   He's polite with new people, especially those who let him approach at his own pace. Offer him a treat and a calm introduction, and you'll likely earn a gentle sniff and a new friend. While he can still be nervous around busy environments and lots of activity, his confidence continues to blossom with patient guidance.   Home Sweet Home   Chauncey thrives on routine. His day starts around 7:00 a.m. with a potty break, followed by breakfast (preferably in a fun puzzle feeder) and then a relaxing morning spent near his people. He enjoys a midday walk, afternoon naps, dinner, and sometimes an evening adventure before settling into his crate for bedtime.   He's crate trained for overnight sleeping and does very well once tucked in. He's also nearly housetrained and has made excellent progress, especially with consistent potty schedules. Since he has a speedy metabolism, regular potty breaks throughout the day help set him up for success.   His Perfect Match   Because of his past, Chauncey can still be startled by sudden movements and is particularly cautious about feet—he seems worried about accidentally being stepped on. His ideal family will understand that building confidence takes patience and kindness.   He'd love a quieter home with adults or older, gentle children who can respect his space. A calm canine companion could be a wonderful bonus, but he'd also be perfectly happy soaking up all of the attention as your one-and-only.   He also has an alert bark and likes to let you know when someone is at the door, so a home rather than a busy apartment would likely be the best fit.   Why You'll Fall in Love   Chauncey doesn't ask for much. When DPS volunteers first met her at the shelter, she barely looked like a dog. Hidden beneath layers of severe matting, dreadlocks, and neglect was a tiny 12-pound Morkie who had clearly been through a lot. Once she was finally shaved down, groomers discovered painful wounds hidden underneath her coat, including a significant sore on her front leg that has taken time to heal.   Despite everything she's endured, Cupcake's personality shines through every day.   At 7 years old, Cupcake is equal parts playful, snuggly, bossy, funny, and determined. She absolutely loves playing fetch with her stuffed toys and is always ready for a spirited game of tug-of-war. She enjoys curling up next to her people, sleeping in bed (where she takes her role as a bed hog very seriously), and soaking up attention whenever it's available. Her adorable baby Yoda ears are impossible to resist, and she especially loves having them scratched. She's a great cuddler and always brings a smile to her foster's face.   Most of the time, Cupcake is a happy little dog who enjoys being part of the action. She has done well meeting visitors and gets along wonderfully with the three resident dogs in her foster home. She's perfectly content staying home alone and doesn't spend her time looking for trouble. She saves her barking mostly for important announcements, like reminding you dinner is late, requesting a spot on the couch, or letting you know that your food should probably be shared with her.   Cupcake does come with some important considerations.   Because of her painful wound and likely difficult past experiences, she can be defensive when she feels uncomfortable or vulnerable. While much of this behavior appears related to pain and wound guarding, Cupcake has also shown that she isn't afraid to express her opinions when things don't go her way. She is not a dog who will tolerate being pushed, restrained, or handled without respect for her boundaries.   For that reason, Cupcake needs an experienced adult-only home with people who understand dog body language and are comfortable working with a dog who has some emotional baggage.   The right adopter for Cupcake will see beyond her rough edges and recognize the resilient little dog underneath. She has likely spent years learning that the world wasn't always kind to her. Now she needs someone willing to show her that life can be different.   Cupcake isn't a perfect dog. She simply wants to be wherever you are.   When she thinks she's being overlooked, she'll stand up on her tiny hind legs and wave both front paws at you in the cutest little 'Excuse me...I believe you forgot to admire me!' dance you've ever seen.   It's impossible not to smile.   Passenger Princess   Some dogs tolerate car rides.   Rosebud lives for them.   The moment she hears your keys jingling, she'll quietly trot over to her crate and patiently wait, convinced she's obviously coming too.   Running errands?   School pick-up?   Coffee run?   She volunteers as tribute.   She's the happiest little co-pilot around and absolutely loves being included in everyday life.   She even enjoys riding in a sling while you're out and about, soaking up every moment by your side.   A Gentle Soul With Playful Surprises   Although Rosebud is happiest cuddled next to her favorite human, she still has plenty of playful moments.   She loves chasing her puppies and her foster family's little dog around the yard during joyful zoomie sessions, showing off that she's still got plenty of pep in her tiny paws.   When she's tired on walks, however, she'll make her opinion crystal clear.   She simply performs an adorable little sploot right on the sidewalk.   Walk over.   Taxi requested.   Luckily, she's only nine pounds, making rescue rides home nice and easy.   A True Little Lady   Rosebud is wonderfully well-mannered.   She's fully housetrained with impeccable house manners and has never had an accident in foster care. She's not destructive, settles beautifully around the house, and prefers being close to her people over getting into any trouble.   She sleeps soundly through the night and would absolutely love sharing a bed with her forever person. If that's not possible, she's perfectly content snoozing in a cozy dog bed nearby where she can keep an eye on you.   Every evening she carefully scratches and fluffs her bed until it's arranged just right before curling up for a peaceful night's sleep.   It's one of her many charming little routines.   Friends, Family & Furry Roommates   Rosebud has lived peacefully with large dogs, small dogs, cats, foster kittens, and all the activity that comes with a busy household.   She'll happily coexist with other pets, although she does occasionally remind them that her favorite human is, well...her favorite. She may offer a little grumble if another dog crowds her person or her food bowl, but she's all talk and has never escalated beyond letting everyone know she'd rather not share.   She especially enjoys playful, friendly little dogs that respect her space.   She has been sweet with adults and older teenagers. Because she seemed unsure around younger children while caring for her puppies, we think she'd be happiest in a home without small kids.   A Few Things to Know   Rosebud prefers companionship and has blossomed in a home where someone is around most of the day. When she first arrived, being left alone made her anxious, but after settling in she learned to relax on the couch or in her dog bed until her family returned.   She does have some cloudiness in her eyes, and while she still gets around well, her vision may not be perfect. Keeping the hair around her eyes neatly trimmed helps her navigate more confidently.   She also isn't much of a marathon walker. She enjoys leisurely strolls, plenty of sniffing, and knows exactly when she's had enough.   The Retirement She Has Earned   If Rosebud could make one wish, it would probably be very simple:   Someone to love.   Someone whose lap she can claim.   Someone who will let her ride shotgun on errands.   Someone who smiles every time she does her tiny two-paw wave.   After raising five puppies in her lifetime, losing two, and even helping care for orphaned kittens, this remarkable little mama has spent enough of her life taking care of everyone else.   Now she deserves someone who's just as devoted to her as she'll be to them.   Because once Rosebud loves you—and she absolutely will—you'll wonder how you ever lived without your tiny shadow quietly following you through life.   She's waited long enough.   Now all she needs is the family who will make the rest of her story the happiest chapter yet. July 17, 2026, 1:43 pm

Caviar came to our rescue after her owner could no longer care for her, and she is now learning just how wonderful life can be with a little patience, consistency, and a family who will show her the world isn’t such a scary place after all.   A Sweet and Affectionate Companion   Caviar may start out a little shy, but her loving personality shines through once she feels safe. When she first arrived in her foster home, she was a bit unsure and would back away when someone reached out to pet her. But with a few treats, some gentle encouragement, and a little time, she quickly realized she was surrounded by people who loved her. Before long, she was walking up to family members for treats, waiting patiently under the kids’ table for a dropped sausage (her absolute favorite!), and acting like she had been part of the family forever.   Now, Caviar is a true cuddle bug. She loves being close to her people and will happily curl up beside you, snuggle next to you on the couch, or simply follow you from room to room to be part of whatever you’re doing. She is definitely a little velcro dog, but she also knows how to spread the love — when her foster mom is busy, she happily goes to her foster dad for some extra neck scratches and butt rubs.   At night, Caviar sleeps peacefully in bed with her foster family, curled up at the foot of the bed like the little princess she is.   Her Perfect Day   Caviar starts her day around 7–8 AM, waking up with her foster mom. Even if the rest of the family is already up and moving around, she patiently waits in the bedroom until her foster mom gets up. Once she’s ready for the day, she heads outside for a potty break and then comes back inside.   Breakfast is offered in the morning, although Caviar sometimes decides she would rather wait until after her walk. She enjoys getting out and exploring after the family has started their day. Dinner is served around 6 PM with the rest of the family, and unlike breakfast, she consistently finishes her meal.   During the day, Caviar loves simply being near her people. Whether her foster mom is doing chores around the house or working at her desk, Caviar happily follows along and settles nearby. She is the perfect little companion for someone looking for a dog who wants to be included in daily life.   Playful, Then Ready to Relax   Caviar has a wonderful balance of playful energy and couch-potato charm. She loves toys and will happily visit her toy box to pick out something fun. She enjoys bringing toys to her people for a quick game of tug and playtime, usually for about 5–10 minutes, before deciding it’s time to return to the couch for a cozy nap.   She also gets the occasional burst of happy zoomies around the house, showing off her silly, playful side. After a little fun, she is perfectly content relaxing by your side.   Walks and Adventures   Caviar enjoys her walks and is always excited to get out and explore. She walks nicely on leash, although she may pull a little when she gets excited about the adventure ahead. Her foster mom has been working with her, and Caviar is a quick learner — when her foster mom stops walking, Caviar stops too and checks back in.   Like many curious dogs, she loves chasing squirrels and may bark at some dogs she sees. However, she can be easily redirected and is learning appropriate ways to greet new things.   Great with Kids and Learning About the World   Caviar has done beautifully with children, including a very enthusiastic 10-year-old cousin who absolutely loves dogs. She is gentle, patient, and happy to receive affection from people she trusts.   She does need a little more confidence-building when experiencing new places and situations. Caviar is still learning that the world is safe, and unfamiliar environments can sometimes feel overwhelming for her. New flooring surfaces, busy buildings, car rides, and unfamiliar surroundings may cause her to freeze or become nervous. With patience and reassurance, she is able to move forward and gain confidence.   Her foster family has been taking her on short car rides every day, and she has already improved. She may still shake when she’s unsure, but she is proving that she is brave and capable of learning.   House Manners   Caviar is wonderfully housetrained and has not had a single accident in her foster home. She quickly learned to go outside for both potty breaks and understands the routine of the household.   She is not a fan of the crate. She tolerated it initially but made it clear that it was not her preferred sleeping arrangement. She now sleeps happily in bed with her foster family and settles beautifully.   A Little Watchdog in a Tiny Body   Caviar is not a constant barker, but she does like to let her family know when something unusual is happening. She may bark at knocks on the door, sounds outside, or unfamiliar noises. Sometimes she will give a little nighttime growl if she hears something outside, but she responds well to redirection.   The funny thing is, once she realizes the person is a friend, she immediately switches from “security guard” mode to “please give me affection” mode and happily greets visitors at the door.   Caviar’s Ideal Home   Caviar would thrive with a family who understands that confidence takes time and is willing to help her continue discovering the world at her own pace. She would love a home that can provide a predictable routine, regular walks, playtime, and lots of affection.   She does not need someone to entertain her every minute — she is perfectly content relaxing on the couch — but she would love a family who enjoys having a sweet little shadow following along throughout the day.   A patient adopter who can continue building her confidence will be rewarded with one of the most loving, loyal little companions around.   Why Caviar Is So Special     Her foster family says she has one of the softest coats they have ever felt, and her beautiful non-shedding coat is just an added bonus to an already wonderful little dog.   Her favorite trick? This adorable 10-12 week old, 8 lb pup is the last of the Ryan Puppies — his brother Gosling just got scooped up by his forever family, and now it's Reynolds' turn for the spotlight. Puppy Life is the Best Life Like any growing puppy, Reynolds spends his days mastering the fine art of play, nap, eat, repeat. His mornings begin around 8:00 a.m. with breakfast, wrestling matches, and toy adventures, alternating between energetic play sessions and snooze breaks before calling it a night around 11:00 p.m. He's using potty pads consistently and is off to a great start with his puppy manners — a smart little guy who's already showing how quickly he learns. The Curious Explorer Reynolds has all the puppy energy you'd expect, plus an extra dose of curiosity and brains. He's an observer — the puppy who pauses during playtime to carefully inspect his surroundings and figure out how everything works. He's incredibly clever and learns fast. He picked up 'sit' after only a handful of repetitions and loves showing off his new skills. He's also impressively athletic and agile — his foster family quickly learned that standard puppy pens were merely suggestions to Reynolds, who successfully climbed his way out more than once. Despite his adventurous nature, Reynolds loves checking in with his people. He likes knowing where his humans are and will happily hop into a lap for pets before heading back to his next adventure. Social Butterfly Reynolds is friendly, playful, and eager to engage with the world. He currently lives with a small resident dog and would love a canine playmate of his own, though he doesn't require one. Most of the dogs were Maltese and Spitz and were believed to have come from a breeding facility. After being abandoned, they were taken to a local high kill shelter. With no adopters coming forward, Tongky was placed on the euthanasia list. Thankfully, he was rescued before that could happen.After his rescue, Tongky joined his first foster family, where he lived in an apartment with a young elementary school aged child for four months. He then moved to another foster home with a quiet young couple, where he has continued to thrive in a home environment.Unfortunately, due to personal circumstances, his current foster family can only care for him until the end of June. We are hoping to find Tongky the loving forever home he deserves so he can finally settle into a family of his own and never have to experience another transition again.Personality and SocializationTongky can be a little shy when meeting new people, especially men. However, once he feels safe and comfortable, his sweet and affectionate personality quickly emerges. He forms strong bonds with his people and loves attention and companionship. He is currently very comfortable with his male foster parent and enjoys spending time with him.Tongky gets along very well with other dogs and has shown good social skills in foster care. He like dogs who are friendly and respecful and are not too dominant. He has also lived successfully with a young child and would be suitable for a home with respectful children.BehavioursTongky loves going for walks and is easy to handle on leash. He enjoys exploring the world around him and looks forward to his daily outings. He is cooperative during grooming and bath time and handles routine care very well. Tongky rides reasonably well in the car. He may whine a little if sitting alone in a car seat, but settles with reassurance and enjoys being close to his people.He does not show signs of separation anxiety and has not displayed any aggressive behaviours. Tongky uses pee pads when needed and prefers to do his bowel movements outside during walks. He has a wonderful balance of energy. He enjoys running around and playing when it is time for fun, but he is equally happy to relax quietly beside his family when the day winds down.Health and DietTongky is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and has been routinely dewormed. He receives monthly parasite prevention.When he was rescued, Tongky tested positive for heartworm. He successfully completed treatment and has been declared heartworm free. He has also received a full veterinary examination. He is healthy and ready for his forever home.Tongky eats regular kibble with a healthy appetite and has not shown any known food or environmental allergies.Ideal HomeTongky has experienced abandonment and uncertainty in his past, but he has never stopped believing in people.
