Story
“CHARLIE” is a 5-year-old (03/03/2020), black, AKC Miniature Poodle who has that old-fashioned long in body, short in leg look. He weighs a healthy 19 pounds and stands at 14” tall. He sadly came to us as his beloved senior owners died within a few months of each other. This pretty boy was deeply loved and well card for. However, he spent most of his time inside the house. So, when he came to us, it took him a few days to adjust to the idea of going outside. Now Charlie greatly enjoys going for his daily 1 to 2 mile “w-a-l-k” so he can see all that is going on in this beautiful world. We must spell that word, otherwise he gets so excited and will not leave us alone until we grab his leash and take him for his “w-a-l-k”. Charlie is super friendly and becomes excited to meet people, especially men. Sit down and he will jump into your lap so he can snuggle up to you. He will also quickly jump onto our bed knowing when it’s bedtime. However, we do not sleep with our Poodles, so Charlie is just fine sleeping in his kennel at night and when we are gone. He is fine with all our other Poodles, including our Standard Poodle, Lola. But Charlie is NOT looking for another dog friend as he has been an only dog all his life. He now considered himself a family member and not a pet. Your loving attention, warm hugs and a lap to sit in make Charlie happy. This is a smart boy who knows where the toys are and greatly enjoys playing with them when he needs to do his Poodle “zoomies” (as seen in the video on our web site). He is food motivated, knows all about treats and greatly enjoys watching TV, especially America’s Funniest Home Videos (AFV). When dog videos come on, he’s right there watching all the dogs doing their funny acts. One of Charlie’s strangest quirks is that when something comes onto the TV that he does NOT like, he will growl and let you know. We are still trying to figure out what he sees and why it upsets him!? He also doesn’t like you when you try to take his toys away from him. Hmmmm…. *Preference will be given to a family with a SECURLY FENCED YARD. *You must be physically able to handle 18-pound Poodle. *Preference will be given to a family with past Poodle experience. BUT PLEASE: *NO puppies or cats. *NO aggressive or assertive dogs (they scare him and me). *NO young children. *Like most rescue groups, we do NOT adopt our Poodles to homes more than 1 day’s drive (round trip) from our location here in central Minnesota. Yes. This is a very rare opportunity for the right family as we all know that a good Poodle is hard to find. Charlie has been neutered, teeth cleaned, is up to date on his vaccinations, worming, heartworm/Ehrlich/ Anaplasmosis (4DX) tested negative, placed on a heartworm preventative, and Home Again microchipped. While Charle is completely house trained (no accidents) and will go outside, we did notice he was having a difficult time relieving himself. A urine sample showed he had a severe urinary tract infection. After weeks of antibiotics, his infection went away, and he sure felt a lot better. So, do you know how painful a UTI can be? We recently had an ultrasound done and were reassured that he did NOT have any bladder stones. So now, it’s best that Charlie remains on his prescription dog food, “Royal Canine SO”, to prevent any more UTI’s. As with all the other Poodles we have adopted, Charlie’s adoption fee is 1 million, trillion, zillion dollars. However, for the right family his adoption fee is $500.00 which includes $34.00 for our 7.375% Minnesota state sales tax and helps pay for just some of his Vet work. Also included is his leash, collar, a bag of quality Royal Canine SO dog food, a 10-gallon dog food container, treats, a cute toy box, his wire crate, a dog bed along with lots of his old and new toys, and lots of good information to help your Poodle adoption move forward on the right paw! Again, Charlie is a very nice, smart, silly and friendly Poodle boy who wants and truly deserves a loving “forevermore” home. IMPORTANT NOTICE: We are re-working our application so that it is more compatible with the myriad of devices and browsers. At this time, please contact us for our “Adoption Application”. Thank you!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.   This sweet little miniature poodle is a local dog in need. His name is "Houston." He is approximately 1.5 years old, approximately 12 lbs. He came from a breeder and the owner does not have enough time for him. He was used to living outside with the breeder, the owner works long hours and is struggling to get him housetrained. He is not fully housetrained yet. He wears belly bands inside and goes outside frequently. He is making slow progress. Houston is used to living with dogs and because of his puppy mill type background, we think he needs to live in a home with other dogs as they make him more comfortable. Another smallish dog would probably be best, but he hangs well with the big ones too.   Houston is a very meek, somewhat shy (but wants to be loved) little muppet.   Houston likes to be near you, but kind of prefers to watch you from a few feet away while you are doing things and then if you sit he will come lay near you, and he will jump on the bed, but usually lays at end of bed, or sometimes on the floor.   He wants to be near his person, but has some skittishness in him too. Once you are holding him or he is approaching you for pets, he loves to be pet and cuddled. We can supply belly bands to the foster home (and send some with to an adopter). Whoever fosters or adopts, would just want to make sure he's on a routine, in and out frequently, praise when goes outside, and use of a belly band when inside.   This little guy is a total squish-ball sweetheart, but he will need a dedicated type of person, who is savvy to the under-socialized dog and stays on top of his housetraining schedule (processes).   Please let us know if you are interested in fostering or adopting Houston. Thank you! Interested in adopting or learning  more about this animal ? Please complete an interest  form on our website  here . Interest forms are not binding  contracts. Story
Are you an introvert at your core? Are you a homebody? Does the thought of leaving the house and socializing with people make you anxious? Would you rather hang out with Dogs than People?!? Then you should meet Wookie, he feels the same way about life!  Wookie is a 15 pound Mini Poodle estimated to be born in May 2017. Thanks to DNA testing from Embark, we’ve got a fresh take on how old he really is.  He does resemble his namesake a bit, do you see any Chewbacca in him? Wookie first came into rescue in August of 2023 after being released from his life of breeding and has been in his current foster home since June of 2024.   He has made lots of progress, but is going to need a special home that understands him and is willing to allow him to be who is he is.  He is a very shy boy and needs someone that is going to help boost his confidence, and flourishes best in a home with other dogs and very patient people.  It takes him some time to warm up to new people, but once he trusts you, he will share a couch, chair or bed with you and even allow pets.  His safe place is his kennel and he will sleep through the night in it without making a peep and is also in the kennel during the day while his foster family is at work. He also loves to hang out on the couch, chair or a dog bed and snuggle with his toys.  He enjoys being outside and does well in a fenced in yard, pen or on a leash.  He hasn't had an accident in his kennel or in the house while supervised, but does occasionally mark his territory.  He rides well in the car in his kennel.  He loves to play with his toys independently and is quite animated and goofy about it, but will stop if realizes he's being watched.  He doesn't play with the three other small dogs in his foster home, but he relies on them to show him the routine and to feel comfortable in new situations.  As a result, his new home must have another small and confident dog for him to bond with and to support him. Large does can be a bit intimidating for him especially if they are rambunctious.  He also enjoys the company of cats and does just fine with them.  He has a bit of a prey drive though for bunnies in the yard, so small animals in the home might be a challenge. In addition, he would do best in a home without a lot of chaos that would make him anxious such as loud noises and small children.  He is afraid of loud noises such as fireworks and thunderstorms and does best given sedatives in those situations.  He has graduated from a shy dog training program and his adoptive family will be taught how to best help him live a happy life.  He knows his name, comes when called, goes into his kennel on command, will wait, walks nicely on a leash and knows how to sit.  He needs to have the time and space to do things on his terms and as a result, he doesn't like to be approached, picked up or handled.  This of course makes grooming challenging and most successful with sedatives and regular grooming as he has a high maintenance coat prone to becoming matted. He is currently on a life long medication called Fluoxetine to help him with his anxiety and as a result he has made lots of progress with training and learning how to be a more confident and happy dog. Do you have a quiet home, another dog or two, more patience than the average person and lots of love to give?   If so, Wookie may just be your man!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, dental, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine, Distemper combo vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX,  Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $295.00  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 27, 2025, 9:25 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Meet Skippy, the adorable 8-pound senior poodle (or poodle mix) who’s got all the sweet vibes of a happy old man. Skippy’s a total lovebug who just wants to be by your side—whether it’s snuggling on the couch, curling up in your lap, or burrowing under a pile of blankets to make his perfect little nest. He’s all about cuddles, snacks (a soft milkbone after doing his business is a must!), and enjoying the simple pleasures of life. Skippy is potty trained and while he loves the comfort of a fenced yard to roam, he is leash trained and also loves the smells of the neighborhood when doing walks.  While he’s a little barker when left alone, he's generally a calm and docile soul who would do best in a home where he’s not left alone too much. Skippy enjoys the company of other dogs (especially those around his size) but could also be happy as a solo dog with enough attention and love. This sweet, tiny guy has a few quirks—his greasy skin and little "old dog" smell, which just means he may need some extra baths—but he’s just as cute as a button and full of love. As he has had more time in rescue and his skin has begun healing a bit, this does seem to be improving.  His vet thinks he’s around 12 or 13, but honestly, he might be even older, which just makes him even more of a little senior gem. Skippy is best suited for a home without too many stairs (he's small and has some old man joints) and would thrive with a family that’s home often and ready to give him the snuggles he deserves. If you're looking for a sweet, low-maintenance companion who will be your cuddle buddy and give you endless love, Skippy is the perfect match! He’s got a heart full of joy and is just waiting for the right person to spoil him. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.    ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  If you’re looking for a fluffy, four-legged best friend who doubles as a part-time comedian and full-time cuddlebug, meet Toto. This poodle prince is a people-loving, lap-seeking, food-dancing bundle of charm with a flair for the dramatic (especially if you're leaving the house without him). Toto is happiest when he’s part of the action—whether it’s tagging along on a walk, trotting behind you around the house, or performing his signature trick: walking on two legs when dinner is served. He’s great with calm, gentle kids and is hoping for either a playful pup companion or a human who can shower him with attention and belly rubs. Toto isn’t quite potty trained yet, but he’s incredibly close and learns quickly on a schedule. He sleeps like a dream in his crate at night, though he’ll voice his opinion if left alone in it during the day (what can we say, he just loves company). With a bit of leash training and maybe a puppy class or two, this little guy will be your loyal, goofy, heart-stealing sidekick for life. Story
Temp foster needed from 7/31 - 8/7! Please email fostersupport@thebondbetween.org if you can say YES to fostering this animal! Hi! My name is Cookie and I am from Minnesota. From her foster: Cookie a yorkipoo breeder release. She has diabetes and is blind, but still manages to be sweet and silly. She loves being with her humans and snuggles. She has strong opinions about being separated and will use her voice to let you know exactly how she feels. She is also pretty quick to settle down. She goes potty and poop on a schedule but is also still prone to have accidents in the house. She does enjoy small walks and does okay on a leash. She would need someone willing to keep a good schedule for her Insulin and to follow through with veterinarian appointments. From the Vet: I am Cookie and I have been cleared for adoption! After TBB helping to address my medical issues I will share where I am at with all of them. My diabetes is currently managed on insulin and a special veterinary diet. My diabetes will need to be monitored with a primary vet. I was seen for a mammary mass removal surgery recently and the good news is that the biopsy showed that the tumors were benign with good margins. This means that the removal procedure is likely to be curative for these masses and we do not expect me to need any future care for this issue. It is always good to routinely monitor for any masses and have them evaluated in the future should any present.
