Story
Meet Basil 💚 Basil was originally adopted from Oakland Animal Services and spent the last four months in a loving home. Sadly, his adopter developed severe allergies and, despite their best efforts, it just wasn’t something they could safely manage long-term. With heavy hearts, they made the loving decision to help us find Basil an amazing forever home where he can truly thrive. Basil is the total package — a family-friendly, medium-energy sweetheart who knows how to balance playtime with cuddle time. He’s a certified lap dog who loves to lean in for affection and soak up all the love you’re willing to give but is also down for a good walk or hike! He’s a social butterfly who enjoys meeting new people and does well with dogs and kids. This smart boy is housetrained and a quick learner. He’s affection motivated and responds well to gentle corrections. Basil already knows an impressive list of cues: sit, stay, down, roll over, spin (ballerina), and stand — he’ll happily show off his tricks for praise and pets! He rides well in the car and can comfortably be left alone for 4–6 hours and does not require a crate. Basil is looking for a cat-free home where he can continue being the star of the show. If you’re searching for a loving, well-mannered companion who’s equal parts snuggly and social, Basil might just be your perfect match. 💛

Story
Meet Radish and Fennel! This adorable puggle duo is full of personality, love, and playful energy. Both Radish and Fennel are family-friendly, medium-energy pups who can’t wait to make friends — whether it’s with dogs, cats, or humans. They’re social butterflies who love leaning in for cuddles and showing affection at every opportunity. While playful with cats and sometimes tempted to chase, their soft mouths and gentle natures make interactions safe and fun with a little supervision. They’re affection-motivated, eager to please, and love learning new things, especially when it comes with love and attention. Radish and Fennel are bundles of joy who bring laughter, cuddles, and companionship wherever they go. They do not need to be adopted together and are each looking for their own loving homes. 🌟

Story
We love Grin's crooked smile  and his super-soft fur. Grin is about 8 years old and currently a bit over 16 pounds. He loves people and is super affectionate with his person; he loves to cuddle and would like a home where he is allowed on the bed. That said, he is not needy and he is crate trained and will sleep quietly all night in his crate. Grin needs an adult home. &#226&#128&#139Grin seems like a cross between a Puggle (Pug/Beagle) and   another breed. He has some of the looks of a Puggle, but not all. Grin lives with 3 other dogs and is great with them. He plays well with his foster sisters and respects the senior dog in the house. He would do fine with other dogs, or as an only dog. He is house trained and knows how to use a dog door. He does need a home with a private yard or patio. Grin doesn't pull on leash and is great on neighborhood walks where other dogs are also on leash. He will bark at off-leash dogs that run towards him, his foster is working on this and he is doing very well, but he does not do well in off-leash dog parks. He is fine meeting new dogs in his home or their home, and has made friends with some dogs he has met on walks (the key is when their people give him treats). If you are looking for love,  Grin may be the guy you are looking for.    Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Grin is $200. If you are interested in adopting Grin, please complete our online adoption application at https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/ . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area. See our other available dogs at  https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/available-dogs/ February 11, 2026, 7:27 pm

Story
Having produced some of the finest consoles in the video game industry, Nintendo is ready to "switch" from rescuing Princess Zelda on the streets of Stanislaus to being your best friend. A handsome brown-eyed fellow not unlike Donkey Kong, Nintendo is a chihuahua mix who qualifies as a Young Senior at only eight-years-old. He is great with other dogs, and loves long walks followed by couch time. Take him to headquarters in Kyoto, or stay home to play video games. As long as Nintendo is receiving your love and affection, he'll be your little Super Mario forever.
