Sadly, his adopter developed severe allergies and, despite their best efforts, it just wasn’t something they could safely manage long-term. With heavy hearts, they made the loving decision to help us find Basil an amazing forever home where he can truly thrive. Basil is the total package — a family-friendly, medium-energy sweetheart who knows how to balance playtime with cuddle time. He’s a certified lap dog who loves to lean in for affection and soak up all the love you’re willing to give but is also down for a good walk or hike! He’s a social butterfly who enjoys meeting new people and does well with dogs and kids. This smart boy is housetrained and a quick learner. He’s affection motivated and responds well to gentle corrections. Basil already knows an impressive list of cues: sit, stay, down, roll over, spin (ballerina), and stand — he’ll happily show off his tricks for praise and pets! He rides well in the car and can comfortably be left alone for 4–6 hours and does not require a crate. Basil is looking for a cat-free home where he can continue being the star of the show. If you’re searching for a loving, well-mannered companion who’s equal parts snuggly and social, Basil might just be your perfect match. 💛

Pug / Dachshund Mix Age: ≈ 4 years old Female, spayed 15 lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Cheerio came to the Sacramento County Shelter underweight and with an embedded foxtail in her neck. It was removed surgically, but post-op they had trouble stopping the bleeding. She tested negative for any blood clotting disorder - perhaps the surgery nicked an artery? Eventually, the bleeding stopped, but it left her anemic. The shelter needed a rescue group that specializes in medical cases to continue addressing her veterinary needs. Over time in foster care, her anemia improved and she gained her weight back. She is a very friendly, sweet dog. She likes attention and affection from her foster parents and volunteers. She likes roughhousing with the younger, larger dogs in her foster home. She doesn’t like being confined or kept away from the activities of the home. Crate training would be pretty difficult - lots of barking. Apartment living may not be the best option for her. We have no experience with her as an only dog. We would recommend that she go to a home with other playful, friendly dogs. Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13. Courtesy post Meet Rolo. He is a 12 week old Pug who somehow ended up homeless. Luckily he was quickly placed with a foster to has children, dog and cat so he is well rounded little guy. He is a baby so a home with someone home during the day rather than being alone for 8 to 12 hours per day is very important. Rolo is neutered and has had 2 vaccines. He is on his way to being fully crate trained and is doing great on the potty training. His new family will need to be able and willing to continue with his training. We don’t know Mama Hazel’s full story, but we know the chapters that matter now. She came to us as a stray, though her long nails suggest she may have once known the comfort of living indoors. Whatever her past looked like, Hazel is nothing but sweetness moving forward. She’s as loving as they come and will happily wiggle her whole butt across the room just to say hello! Hazel was a devoted mama to seven puppies, and after everyone else found their homes, she found her way into rescue. Hazel is dog friendly with proper introductions, wonderful with all humans, and is an absolute lovebug. She’s gentle, affectionate, and so ready to be someone’s spoiled, well deserved “finally my turn” girl. Mama Hazel has done her job raising babies now it’s her turn to be the baby. ##2649164##
