Re-introducing Morty! Morty was pulled from the EU list in FTW south campus shelter the morning he was scheduled to be euthanized due to space. He is currently our foster who has been waiting the longest for his furever home. He is a big puppy at 75 pounds and is about 2 years old. Morty is confirmed to be a Rhodesian Ridgeback and German Shepherd mix. Morty wants to just melt into your arms as he just loves to be hugged. He Loves car rides and exploring. Morty loves to play with other medium to large dogs. Would do great with a big sister or brother. But he is not great with small dogs. He is a velcro dog that sticks close to his people. He has learned a lot from his foster family. He is kennel trained and food trained, he only eats from his bowl. He knows a few commands like sit, wait, drop it and he walks well on a leash. Morty would do better in a home without cats. He is a good boy. Beautiful red vibrant coat. Shepherd mix with bright eyes. Watching him chase butterflies, dragonflies, and any other bug is a real treat. Morty LOVES to play in water! He Blows bubbles in his water bowl! He is Very excited about play time. Would do better with an active owner since he is high energy. Loves to play ball and Frisbee toss! Still working on the retrieval part, though. Morty is a couch crasher, too. Loves to sit and watch anime, YouTube dog streaming, or Disney channels. He is motivated with treats and food. Morty will give you his undivided attention if he sees you have snacks! Meet Callie! Callie is a four-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. She is super loyal and loving to her people. She loves to hang out inside with her people but enjoys rolling around in the yard and sunning herself on a pretty day. When her mommy and daddy had a baby, she was a little stressed out by all the chaos and, they knew she would be happier in a home where she did not have babies crying or toddlers invading her space, so she is looking for her forever home. She is currently staying with her grandparents while waiting for a forever family. 

She is up to date with vaccines, spayed, and has an appointment to be microchipped soon. Her anxiety is well managed with medication. She weighs 90 lbs and has been working on getting to her ideal weight with daily exercise and weight management food. She would love to accompany you on your own wellness journey if you too are looking for daily exercise!

Callie LOVES her adult people. She will sit at your feet and hang out with you for hours. When she gets spurts of energy, she invites you to play and will go get toys and sticks you throw for her. She is not a big fan of giving them back to you, but loves the chase. She thrives when she gets her daily walk and would be your best friend if you took her on a neighborhood walk each day. She is super friendly to people and pets out in the neighborhood but needs to make your acquaintance before you come into her space. Her first family had babies and dogs, and she prefers life as the diva, free of children or other pets in the house.

Callie is potty trained, and sleeps in her crate. She is the best at walking on a leash and aced her obedience training. She is super smart and learns quickly. She is the type of pup who will take some time to warm up to you, but will be very loyal to her new family. She will thrive in an adult-only household where she can be queen!

Glory is a male Rhodesian Ridgeback mix.  He weighs 55 to 60 lbs and is about 2 years old.  His owenr moved and left him alone in a rental property.  The owner of the property loves animals and didn't want to take him to the shelter so we need to find Glory a forever home.  He is super friendly and loves everyone..  He is housebroken and crate trained and very eager to please. He is very sweet and laid back. He is good with children as well. He is the only dog but wags his tail when he sees dogs and he is submissive.   He has no known health issues. Harleigh is being returned to our rescue for the THIRD time, this time after almost a year and a half. We traced her microchip when we first rescued her and found she'd been in atleast TWO homes prior to us.  She is a WONDERFUL GIRL, just needs a specific type of home for her own comfort.  Harleigh is 6.5 years old and weighs 70lbs.  She is friendly with other animals BUT she does NOT like SHARING A HOME (or her humans) with other pets. She needs to be an ONLY PET.   She would play with multuple other dogs in boarding with no issues, but she did become jealous and growl if she was getting attention and another dog came trying to get in on her time.  Kids. She is kid friendly BUT kids being kids, running around, loud etc... makes her uncomfortable and she wants far away SO bigger or calm children if any are best. Just for her own comfort and sanity.  She's not an old girl by any means, but she much prefers the "retirement home type" living situation.   Harleigh is very chill and extremely loving and well behaved. She doesn't require long walks or anything crazy. She would much rather be at home napping with her humans close by than out playing ball or running a marathon.  She literally just wants a quiet home, a soft bed and a human or two to love.... it can't be that hard to find.... surely someone knows someone, or has parents, or even grandparents who could use a companion with four paws and a huge heart to love! ##981112##

Please read the bio & email the address listed in the bio.   Additionally for CATS you  may email  JShelton@eulesstx.gov and for DOGS, email trinitygapclub@gmail.com       Meet our newest Luke.  This Rhodesian Ridgeback/Blackmouth Cur mix is a big boy who found himself at the shelter when his owner passed away.   There was no family to step up for Luke, so he is stuck at the pound.  This is so sad and unfair for a dog who does not understand why he is now homeless or where his beloved owner has gone. Luke loves people and always has a big smile on his face.   He has shown no aggression to other dogs and appears to be very genial to others. Luke walks well on a leash and we think he is potty trained. Luke is a good looking dog, but at 95 pounds, could use to lose about 10 pounds.   He would be a great dog for someone wants a dog who is already trained to be a great companion.   He is neutered and up to date on shots. Manchas is a four-year-old 60 pound Catahoula Leopard dog that was surrendered to the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 4/18. His original owners had rehomed him. He was then found as a stray. The shelter called the original microchip owners. They are working out of town and can no longer care for this big boy! He was surrendered through no fault of his own. He's a good boy...obviously capable of deep love. He is also well trained. He knows to sit command and offers his paw. I can't say he did it for treats though because he didn't like my treats! He chased balls but did not retrieve them. He had a strong pull to get out in the yard. As soon as he got out of the yard, he did his business. He's very active, exuberant, playful, well mannered, and friendly. He comes when you call him, and he tries to get up on your lap--all 60 pounds of him. He will need a big yard to romp in, but will also enjoy going for a run with his new owners. Then the rest the time he'd like to spend chilling with his new family.

Meet Owen, Owen is a Black Mouth Cur with a bit of Carolina dog in the mix. He weighs 55 pounds, is approximately one year old and is neutered. This is one happy-go-lucky pup, fun-loving, and with a delightful personality. During our photo shoot, he ran and played in the yard, played with squeaky toys, and had the time of his life! He was so happy to be out of his kennel and romping about. When he wasn't running or playing with toys, he was doing some serious investigative work with his nose to the ground and covering pretty much every square inch of the yard. Oh, and he walks nicely on a leash. He is perhaps house trained as he did his business in the yard. When he wasn't running, playing, or investigating, he was happy to hang out with me and appreciated the loving touch he received. This fellow would seem best suited for a home with active people who would give him the time and energy he needs to fit in well with his people. Daily playtime, exercise and enrichment would be important for Owen. Manners training would also be beneficial.
