Story
Hi! My name is Rowdy Zane, and I’m a handsome Rottweiler—possibly with a little Black Retriever mixed in. I’m a big, lovable guy, at around 85 pounds, but don’t let my size fool you. I’m one of the sweetest, friendliest dogs you’ll ever meet. I get along beautifully with just about everyone and everything. Right now I’m living in a foster home with more dogs than you can imagine, and we all coexist peacefully. I’m respectful of the other dogs and enjoy their company, but I don’t really engage in play with them. I’m perfectly happy simply sharing my space, so I’d do wonderfully in a home with another friendly dog that enjoys the same laid-back lifestyle. I also don’t depend on having another dog around for companionship, which means I’d make a fantastic only dog, happily soaking up all the love and attention from my family. I’m an easygoing, happy-go-lucky dog with a gentle soul, but I definitely have my playful side too! I get bursts of energy where I love to run, play, and have fun, but once I’ve gotten my wiggles out, I’m more than happy to settle down and relax with my people. People are my favorite! My love language is touch, and I especially enjoy leaning against you for affection. Snuggles are one of life’s greatest pleasures, and if you’ll let me, I’ll happily stay close by your side. I’m very social and would make an excellent companion for dog-friendly patios, outdoor restaurants, breweries, and cafés. I’ll happily relax by your side while you enjoy a meal or a cup of coffee. I’m not much of a barker, and I’m not the type to jump all over people. I’m simply happiest being close to my humans. I’m house-trained and crate-trained, so I’ve already mastered some of the most important house manners. I’m very smart, highly treat-motivated, and eager to please, which makes me a lot of fun to train. Like many young, enthusiastic dogs, I can gently mouth your hands when I’m excited, so I’ll need some continued guidance to help me learn better ways to express my excitement. I could also use a little polishing on my leash manners, but with consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement, I’ll catch on quickly. My foster family is confident I’ll continue to blossom with a little training and structure. I’ve been told I have beautiful, soulful eyes, the sweetest smile, and a gorgeous mostly black coat with just a touch of wave to it. Because I’m a big boy, I’d probably be happiest in a single-family home with a yard where I have room to stretch my legs. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, easygoing companion who enjoys adventures just as much as quiet evenings together, I might be the perfect match. I can’t wait to meet my forever family! *Temporary Medical Update Rowdy is currently sporting a splint on his front left leg due to a broken toe that he came into rescue with. The good news is that it’s healing well, and he should only need the splint for another couple of weeks. The funniest part? Rowdy doesn’t seem to think it’s a big deal at all! It certainly hasn’t slowed him down, and he’s adapted remarkably well. He still enjoys life, loves being with his people, and is every bit the happy, affectionate dog described above. Rowdy is available for adoption now, and the rescue will cover all veterinary expenses related to his toe until it is fully healed and the splint is no longer needed. So don’t let a temporary splint keep you from meeting your new best friend - it will be off before you know it!
